Kookanard, Commander-in-Chief of the Laichkanges, is aboard the FASFAKAAR
with his special guest: the Audh. Also included is Veurnbittar, a Vhasyr, but
not attuned to this Audh. That needs to change as Buunator is no longer alive.
On board the MONITOR-C, 13 November 2071 NGE, Pautpar system, three weeks
after the first engagement with the Audh: Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan and Shema
Ghessow are having breakfast when Holar Wolkwart joins them. The dwarf android urges:
The Chaos Fleet has been shelling Pautpar's Court for hours.
Soynte Abil is also there, as well as Cheborparner Loscozar Totuyeret
(LoT). Outside, researcher Laffima Pautpar studies the Episodic Biogate. They
want to take a closer look. The squad, which includes ten TARAs, must battle
their way through an unreal world while Laffima Pautpar moves with sleepwalking
certainty. A Munuam Tricube flies over the terrain, but behaves passively like
the other enemy starships.
Tensions arise between Soynte Abil and Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan. Who is the actual
leader? And Laffima Pautpar is not without authority either. It's not our war,
the researcher makes clear. But Soynte Abil wants to give the opponent a blow
that he will not soon forget.
Then the FASFAKAAR appears. A ball measuring 160 meters in diameter comes
loose from the Laichkange spacer: the Audh has come with his roundel. Back in
the MONITOR, Soynte Abil orders the destruction of the Audh and the roundel in
order to prevent the erection of the Sextadim Screen around Valotio. But
Wolkwart refuses, after which Soynte Abil paralyzes him. The former MdI wants
direct control over the MONITOR-C. But Wolkwart has taken appropriate
precautions to prevent this.
Soynte Abil doesn't want to lose sight of Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan. She wants
to leave the moon. The task force is to keep an eye on the enemy. Perry
Rhodan's granddaughter agrees and orders a ground attack on the Audhian roundel.
The task force is to be secretly dropped on the moon via the MONITOR-C.
It doesn't take long for barely covert animosity to surface between Farye
Sepheroa-Rhodan and Soynte Abil. Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan directs the conversation
to the damaged BJO BREISKOLL. The repairs are progressing. Abil prefers to
teach Rhodan's granddaughter a lesson, disrespectfully calling her a child:
Power is indivisible. To demonstrate her power, she summons a Maahk holding an
object with dancing indicator lights to appear from out of nowhere. Soynte Abil
confirms: The explosive force would atomize the Headquarters of the BJO
BREISKOLL.
Now Abil shows all her arrogance, calling Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan a child
again. The Maahk is Grek-1, Vanguard of the Invincible. Maahks that can
dematerialize and rematerialize with equipment. In their dematerialized state,
they move toward any target at 85 percent the speed of light. They are from
Andro-Alpha and more will be arriving soon.
The Maahk must be a Shadow Maahk, Sepheroa-Rhodan surmises. At Abil's
command, Grek-1 deactivates the bomb. And the lesson goes on: only fools share
power. And she's no longer a fool. Later, the two women talk again. The former
MdI makes it clear that she doesn't care about the individuals in Pautpar's Eye.
Sepheroa-Rhodan counters, but doesn't want to block the support from the
MONITOR. While Abil drives the battle in space, she wants to extract her people
with a company of the Invincible. This impresses Abil, who accepts a company.
Meanwhile, Kookanard and Veurnbittar prepare for the test run for the Sextadim
screen. At the same time, the task force that remained on the moon is in dire
straits. Shema Ghessow's abilities bring them to temporary safety.
At Soynte Abil's command, the battle breaks out in space. The Shadow Maahks
have done a good job planting antimatter-based demolition charges on enemy
ships. Destroying the Audhian roundel is just one of Abil's two goals. The
entire Chaoporter fleet is to be destroyed. Trojaners, Gaids and Tefroders as
well as the BJO BREISKOLL and the FELLMER LLOYD put the enemy through their
paces.
On Pautpar's Eye, 378 soldiers, 300 combat and twelve medical robots, 30 Shifts
and 30 combat gliders are deployed. The Galactic attack turns into a quick and
thorough victory. The occupiers are taken by surprise and eliminated for the
most part, but Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan has to mourn twelve victims within her own
ranks.
Veurnbittar also has to realize that a battle is raging and demands
unforeseen losses. He fears that the Chaos forces' plan could be contaminated, Cosmocratically
impregnated. Meanwhile, Damar Feyerlant, Shema Ghessow and Namm Tarrd are on
their own, having fled to safety in an ice crevice. Then a Shift appears.
In space, the Shadow Maahks use their new antipole cannons, wreaking
terrible havoc. But the enemy has the Arynne Shard carriers, which are also
leaving a trail of destruction. And Abil is missing the 100 Invincibles she
sent to Sepheroa-Rhodan. Time is ticking in favor of the enemy, who is
constantly mobilizing more units.
LoT has been taken prisoner by the Munuams. He sees the dance of the Audh.
Doubts arise in him. Does the LFG really stand for a lofty ideal, or is it just
a bugbear that only fools can be impressed by? The rescue team arrives in time.
The Shadow Maahks also intervene. They also fail when attacking the roundel.
The protective screen over the Audhic roundel continues to withstand the shelling.
Soynte Abil is aboard the Gaid spaceship GOULAPAS, which is on the verge of
being wrecked. Now she has to fear that her last hour has come. Strange things
are happening in space. Then the former MdI recognizes what happened.
Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan also sees herself in the fray. She heads for the
Audhian roundel, still protected by a Paratron screen. And the losses continue.
Farye Sepheroa-Rhodan sees the Audh and falls under the spell of the
incomprehensible being. At that moment everything collapses.
The LUMINOSITY with Vetris-Molaud has appeared in the Pautpars ystem. The
Audh dies, and its roundel is destroyed.
It is January 7, 2072 NGE, a month and a half after the costly battle in
the Pautpar system. FENERIK's forces are defeated here in Cassiopeia.
Vetris-Molaud urges a return flight to
the Milky Way. The BJO BREISKOLL and the FELLMER LLOYD are to dock with the LUMINOSITY.
What Vetris-Molaud has to accept: Soynte Abil has taken command of the cylinder.
And DAN agrees with that.
