Atlan da Gonozal remembers dancing with Mu Sargai. He
learned from her that his Thezian cell activator and Knight aura are merging to
make him a Singular Factor of Order that will soon be needed.
The Chaoporter FENERIK reaches a few light years
before the Yodor Sphere. From the Fissure emerge thousands of Munuam Tricubes,
a few hundred Arynne Shards, and Addanc the Diver's LUCTU. The Quintarch
demands safe conduct to the Yodor Sphere, otherwise he will release Chaofacta.
On his flagship TRANTAGOSSA, Atlan embarks in his Sextadim
capsule RA. He consults by radio with Perry Rhodan, who is currently on board
the THANA, the Sextadim capsule of Castellan Alschoran. The RAS TSCHUBAI flies
camouflaged as best as possible in the wake of the Chaoporter and serves as the
ultimate operational reserve. Rhodan asks Atlan to come to him on the THANA so
that the three of them can then fly to the Yodor Sphere and persuade the Cosmocrat
Mu Sargai to form a defensive alliance against FENERIK. Atlan uses a transmitter
to go to the RAS TSCHUBAI, where the THANA is located.
Addanc issues an ultimatum to enter the Yodore
territory, then quickly fires two Chaofacta at the Vector Inverter Field, the
sphere's shield. Through an emerging crack, the LUCTU flies inside along with
the assembled Chaos fleet. Several thousand Yodore cobra ships oppose them, but
are almost casually completely destroyed. Arym Immitag's flagship, the RAUTNO,
also ends up as a wreck. Then Mu Sargai calls the Arkonides for help. A
paramental 6-D-beacon that alone Atlan can perceive should direct the capsule
to her. So Atlan has to take the helm of the THANA, which the Castellan only
reluctantly allows.
Atlan steers the THANA into a hypercrystalline
charged dark cloud in the construction site district. Within it is a solar system
with four planets in the habitable zone, which the Yodores refer to as the Yosh
Clearing. The THANA lands on Preparatory I. The centaur robot Steward VII
welcomes Atlan, Rhodan and Alschoran. He should bring Ataln to Mu Sargai. Atlan
insists on all three men going. The trail takes them via a base station at the
foot of a mountain with a cog railway near the summit. The whole mountain is
the manifestation of the Cosmocrat in a parareality. After a long trek, a
mounted group appears, led by a Mu Sargai avatar in the form of the Takerer Merceile.
But the troop leaves again after a short conversation, as she only represents
Mu Sargai's vanguard.
The hillwalkers encounter other avatars, including
Srimavo, Atlan's first love, Farnathia, Ishtar, the golden goddess of the
Vargans, and Hirsuuna, one of the twelve Arkonide Heroes. They learn that Mu
Sargai can only partially protect herself from the Chaofacta, since they attack
the basic structure of the Moral Code, in which positive superintelligences and
also Cosmocrats are rooted. In addition, an aeon-long companion,
comrade-in-arms and rival of Mu Sargai is nearby: the Chaotarch Zou Skost.
Rhodan loses a game in a parareal casino and
therefore has to reveal secret information: He tells of the unusual access to
the Chaoporter's Primordial Corridor, which Alaska Saedelaere and Gry O'Shannon
have at their disposal. The corridor is completely unknown to the Cosmocrat.
Atlan asks about the DaGlausch Treaty: This is meanwhile irrelevant because it
was based on false premises and was also made completely absurd by the passage
of the TRAITOR Terminal Column.
At an altitude of 12,000 meters, the hikers reach a
shelter secured by an energy screen. Its resident is a woman of indeterminate
age who combines all the attributes of Miss, Madame, and Mother Sargai (those
three foils of the Cosmocrat Atlan has encountered before). In exchange for the
help of the Galactics and Castellans, Mu Sargai reveals to them that due to
various events (presumably those related to the Atopic Tribunal and Thez), ES
has been fragmented into several parts that have retreated to different
retreats; she knows the locations of two refuges and will announce them after
the end of the assistance campaign.
Then the centaur robot Steward VII reports that the
Chaos fleet has arrived at the Yosh Clearing. The hiding place in the dark
cloud is therefore in acute danger.
Atlan, Rhodan and Alschoran are immediately brought
to the THANA and launch. At the edge of the dark cloud, the Arkonide takes over
command of the Yodorian fleet. With clever maneuvers, the LUCTU is isolated at
the edge of the Chaos fleet, then the Sextadim capsule jumps there. Alschoran
uses the Sextaferer built into his protective suit to teleport to the LUCTU,
and he carries along a bomb. He places the bomb and returns. The explosion of
the Sextadim bomb causes heavy damage, but Addanc’s ship is not completely
destroyed. The Yodores attack the LUCTU, but the LUCTU still fires a Chaofactum
at the Yosh Clearing as it retreats.
In a desperate action, the Castellan brings Atlan and
Rhodan onto the Yodorian flagship BAYOCO and then steers the THANA towards the
Chaofactum. Both are completely destroyed in the collision, but the Castellan
teleports back to the BAYOCO just in time. He appears mentally confused by his
experience. The Chaos Fleet retreats and exits the Yodor Sphere.
