800 - Die Kaiserin von Therm
The Empress of Therm
William Voltz

In a distant past, in the galaxy Golgatnur, the civilization of the Soberians was blossoming. They had known space travel for over 180,000 years and their civilization had developed a very sophisticated computer-based science that they named tiotronics. However, a few scientists were beginning to foresee the decline of their civilization, and they started a project that would send a message throughout the universe in order to warn other intelligences so that they wouldn't repeat the same mistakes.

The hyperdimensional wave is finally broadcast, as the Soberian civilization falls into chaos. The communication ripples across the universe and one of its occurrences reaches a small cloud where a solar system is in formation. The conjunction of the hyperdimensional wavefront and of the local conditions creates a crystalline-based entity that starts developing over the third and fourth planet of the solar system, which contains eighteen planets total. A crystal layer soon covers the third planet -- called Drackrioch -- and starts influencing its evolution. Drackrioch develops a lifeform called the Kelsirens, who become servants of the crystalline network, now acting as a super-tiotronic device.

The Kelsiren are fish-like creatures that are about 1.60 meter high, and they have the ability to send mental calls to communicate with their peers. One of them, called Mitra, takes possession of a crystal and becomes the ruler of the Kelsiren. Mitra reports directly to the crystalline structure, which calls itself the Empress of Therm.

One day, a spaceship of the Choolks reaches the home system of the Empress of Therm. The super-intelligence decides to make them her bodyguards, and their first mission is to determine what happened to the Soberian civilization. The Empress is constantly creating new crystals, which are taken on board the Choolk spaceships, while the defective crystals are evacuated on the fourth planet. As the Empress of Therm slowly expands its sphere of influence, it eventually encounters the boundaries of another realm ruled by an entity called Bardioc.

In order to assist the Choolks in their quest, the Empress creates the Comp, a giant computer, which is fitted on the lead spaceship. After travelling to the confines of the known universe, the fleet determines that the Soberian civilization has disappeared. On a distant planet, the Choolks start digging a cave where the Comp is then taken. Shortly thereafter, the entire Choolk crew is assimilated within the Comp.

On the Sol, Dobrak tells Rhodan that the Keloskians will soon leave the Sol to find a new home, and that they will take the Shetanmargt with them. Also, thanks to his psychic skills, Bjo Breiskoll determines that Joscan Hellmut seems to be under the influence of the Empress of Therm, although he doesn't seem to be aware of it.

On April 11th, 3583, the Sol reaches the location of the Empress of Therm.

801 - Sirenen des Alls
Sirens of the Universe
William Voltz

The Sol arrives in the Yoxa Sant system, in the galaxy Nypasor Xon. The Terrans realize that the third planet, Drackrioch, is surrounded by a crystalline network which is nothing else than the Empress of Therm. The network exposes gaps that allow access to the planet, and the network contains thicker nodes, which turn out to be Comps. Dobrak tells Rhodan that the time has come for the Keloskians to leave the Sol, and to take the Shetanmargt with them. The Keloskian computer dissociates itself from Seneca and soon, all of them have left the Sol.

Bjo tells Rhodan about his suspicion: Joscan Hellmut has a crystal engraved in his neck, and he's therefore under the control of the Empress. Confronted about it, Hellmut accepts to have the crystal removed. As time goes by, the mutants start perceiving a soothing and constant psychic call coming from the planet, emitted by the Kelsirens.

Perry sends the three researchers of the Empress as a delegation on the planet, and two days later, the central section of the Sol lands on the main continent, where Rhodan makes contact with the Mother of the Kelsirens. While the Kelsirens seem to share a symbiotic relationship with the super-intelligence, they provide Rhodan with dry leaves that block the psychic calls the fish creatures emit, hence allowing the mutants to explore the planet freely. Rhodan and Atlan wonder if the Empress doesn't intend to turn the Sol into a new Module, since the original one is now prisoner of Bardioc's cosmic trap.

The Empress of Therm finally meets with Rhodan. The coordinates of the Earth and Medallion are delivered to the Terrans, but the super-intelligence still demands two favors from the Terrans. They must explore a continent called Troltungh and also the fourth planet, called Lugh Pure. Their mission is to break off the symbiotic relation that binds the super-intelligence to the Kelsirens, but the Empress refuses to give hints as to how to reach that goal. Rhodan accepts the mission and receives a crystal necklace as a gift from the Empress. When he puts it on, he feels some renewed energy flow through him.

Rhodan reports his conversation to Atlan and Bull, who don't hide their defiance of the Empress of Therm, and also their disagreement about Rhodan wearing the crystal. Rhodan sends Pucky, Tolot and a Kelsiren guide on Lugh Pure.

Pucky and Tolot land on Lugh Pure, where older Kelsirens are regularly dropped off by Choolk spaceships. They uncover vast amounts of black crystals that are piling up and emitting negative psychic waves. They meet with Zamya Lo, the leader of the Kelsirens on the planet, who tells them that the black crystals are increasing their power every day and that soon, guided by a black Comp that is hiding somewhere beneath the surface, they will turn into a negative Empress of Therm.

Zamya Lo asks Pucky and Tolot to help her locate the Comp, and she will take it from there. The Terrans accept and when they finally find the black Comp, Zamya Lo merges with it and manages to overpower it. The black crystals slowly disappear from the surface of the planet.

804 - Der Zeithammer
The Time Hammer
Kurt Mahr

On Intermezzo, an intriguing phenomenon hits the Terra Patrol: they turn into characters that used to live in the past of the Earth. One of them becomes an Inca princess and another one Iratio Hondro, the Plophosian dictator. The sickness is called "Time Hammer" by the Terrans, and it almost causes their downfall as Jentho takes off with the Baldwin Tingmer and almost opens fire on a Hulkoo ship that was doing a recon of the planet.

On Goshmo's Castle, a member of the Iti tribe discovers a new alien visitor -- who names himself Ofedam -- and makes him their new god.

The Sol approaches the Earth and quickly realizes that the human kind has vanished without a trace. The Terrans also realize the presence of the hostile mental impulse, and when they spot a Hulkoo ship in the vicinity, Pucky teleports on board and gets a glimpse of its commander, Gerogrosch.

The Sol flies to Goshmo's Castle where Rhodan finds traces indicating that Terrans must have been there not long ago. He sends a message on the Earth to find out if other survivors are available. The message is received by Raphael, who replies by explaining what has happened to the Earth since its fall in the Pharynx. A small commando is then sent to the Moon where a few enemy robots are standing guard. They are quickly disposed of and as Abel Waringer tries to restore Nathan, he also notices that the Aphilie is no longer in effect.

Kurt Mahr

On Intermezzo, Walik Kauk finds out that the Hulkoos have landed on the planet and are moving to capture them. As he tries to escape, he befriends a Hulkoo and they help each other to get out of a perilous situation. When he reports to the Terra Patrol, the Terrans decide to send an SOS, which is received by the Sol. When the generation ship reaches Intermezzo, it destroys a Hulkoo ship and the other flies away.

At the same time, Douc Langur, who's been separated temporarily from the Terra Patrol, meets a foreigner who seems to have lost his memory. The stranger disappears before Langur can find out who he is.

The Sol picks up the Terra Patrol, including Douc Langur and his spaceship, the Hops. As the Hulkoo commander reports to Clermac, the entity tells him that the Sol might lead them to the disappeared humanity, and therefore orders him not to undertake any action against the Terran ship.

On Intermezzo, Sagullia and Douc Langur both report that they met an unknown creature, who disappeared before they could figure out where it came from. On the Sol, Rhodan dispatches two teams: one made of Danton and Bull on the Moon, to investigate Nathan, and another commando led by Tschubai on the Earth, where the fight against the Baby Majesty begins.

On the Moon, Bull and Danton are deceived by a Shapeshifter, who takes Danton's shape.

On the Earth, the commando has to fight both Hulkoos and Shapeshifters, although the relationships between these two races is not quite obvious as they don't seem to be cooperating. When some of the Earth commando fall under the influence of the Baby Majesty, Pucky is sent on the Earth and manages to free them except for Hainu.

807 - Der Kampf um Terra
The Fight for Terra
H.G. Ewers

Partially under the influence of the Baby Majesty, Hainu learns that the incarnation is a direct servant of Bardioc without real personality. Hainu is fit with Brain Residue, like Bluff Pollard not long ago, but this has very little effect on him. Still looking for his companion, Rorvic meets with a Shapeshifter and manages to talk with the creature, which the humans once confronted in the Milky Way on the planet Moluk. The Gys-Voolberath -- their real name -- tells Rorvic that just like the humans with the Empress of Therm, they are following their own agenda, and that they are therefore not necessarily serving Bardioc.

Rorvic finally finds Hainu and together, they start an earthquake which kills the Baby Majesty by depriving it from iodine, a component that seems to be vital to its survival. Rhodan sends more people on the Earth, and assigns them the mission to lay the foundation for a new Solar Defense.

On the Moon, Naphoon -- the other Shapeshifter -- consults Nathan's database and learns about Moluk, concluding that in the past, other Shapeshifters once migrated to the Milky Way. After the Terrans find him, Naphoon escapes in a disc-shaped spaceship. Raphael, Nathan's emanation, appears and tells Bull that the positronic computer should be reactivated, but only partially, so as not to attract the Hulkoo's attention.

Three hundred Hulkoo spaceships arrive on the Earth, forcing the Sol to withdraw. On Raphael's demand, Bull, Danton and Waringer accept to stay on the Moon. Rhodan decides to wage war on Bardioc by seeking other planets enslaved by the Baby Majesties and to systematically destroy them.

808 - Chaos auf Lusamuntra
Chaos on Lusamuntra

The Sol reaches the planet Lusamuntra, where a Baby Majesty resides. The enslaved people is called the Dorls. The Terrans locate the brain and destroys it. As soon as the psychic radiation ceases, the whole population goes crazy and starts destroying methodically their habitations while mutilating themselves. A Terran commando lands and paralyzes them in an attempt to stop the slaughter.

One of the Dorls explains the reason for the situation: the Dorls are a very artistic people that used to be influenced by the radiations of a distant star. When the Baby Majesty enslaved them, it stifled their very nature. Now that they are free again, they feel the need to obliterate everything that once represented the Majesty.

On the Sol, Rhodan receives a report from Galto Quohlfahrt, who had been sent on a mission in a nearby system, and who seems to have gone through a rough time.

As the Dorls population seems to be finally recovering, a fleet of Hulkoo ship arrives in the system and forces the Sol to flee, leaving the small Terran commando stranded on the planet with twenty-four hours worth of air. The situation seems desperate, when a fleet of Choolks appears and destroys the Hulkoos. Puukar, who leads the fleet, meets Rhodan and tells him that from now on, he will assist the Terrans in their mission to destroy all the Baby Majesties. Rhodan doesn't immediately accept.

In an unknown place in space where cosmic fields intersect, the three incarnations Clermac, Vernoc and Shernoc, discuss the recent destructions of the two Baby Majesties and decide that as soon as the fourth incarnation -- Bulloc -- is born, they will strike back.

As the Earth was about to be precipitated in the Pharynx, It foresaw that the humanity would be enslaved by Bardioc as soon as the planet would rematerialize in the Sphere of Influence of the super intelligence. Therefore, It designed a plan with Nathan that was based on the Pill: any human who would eat it would automatically be transfered in It's consciousness when the Earth would fall into the Pharynx.

Everything went according to plan except that It had underestimated the pressure that the presence of twenty billion humans would impose on his consciousness. This pressure caused humans to materialize in various places, on the Earth, Goshmo's Castle and even in the Solar System. These humans were quickly recaptured by It, but the super intelligence now needs to find a way to release the pressure. It comes up with the "Concept", a new kind of human that hosts seven consciousnesses. Before the plan can be realized, It wants to see if this new creature is able to survive, and therefore exposes it to a survival test.

A multiple human named Kershyll Vanne is teleported on a deserted asteroid where he is exposed to several life-threatening dangers. Using the capacities of the seven hosts, Vanne successfully escapes all the traps and the two observers sent by It on the asteroid give the super intelligence a favorable report on the experiment.

Vanne then receives a mission from It: he must contact Julian Tifflor at the headquarters of the NEI and help him to complete the Eighty-Year Plan devised by the Keloskians.

At the same time, several Laren spaceships report to Hotrenor-Taak that they can no longer refuel on Mastibekk's pyramids. After a quick investigation, Hotrenor-Taak realizes that the rebellion seems to be happening galaxy-wise.

In Gaia, the headquarters of the NEI, Roctin-Par informs Tifflor about what is happening with the Mastibekks. The Laren rebel wants to take this opportunity to head for Olymp and destroy a Laren fleet immobilized there. When he arrives on Olymp with his fleet, Roctin-Par can easily destroy the Laren spaceships and even manages to refuel his ships on the Mastibekk pyramid, proving that the Mastibekks seem to be rebelling only against the Larens led by Hotrenor-Taak.

Roctin-Par makes contact with Anson Argyris and takes Vanne on board. When they reach Provcon-Faust, Vanne is able to steer the spaceship through the dark cloud without the help of the Vincranians. 812 - Der Howalgonier
The Howalgonian
H.G. Francis

On Goorn II, the Keloskians realize that the vast quantities of Howalgonium present on the planet impair their abilities to think in seven dimensions. They have to hide that fact from Hotrenor-Taak, though, or the Laren would probably decide to kill them. The Keloskians tell Hotrenor-Taak that a solution to the energy problem lies in a small star located at 8,000 light years from their current position. The Larens should turn this star into a black hole that would allow them to reach the Dakkardimension, where they could get in touch with the other races of the Council.

Meanwhile, a nuclear technician named Jaan Wegenrat becomes the victim of an accident that turns him into a being made partially of Howalgonium. Wegenrat deceives one of the Keloskians, who discloses the fact that the Keloskians are actually working for Perry Rhodan. Seeing this as an opportunity to leave Goorn II, Wegenrat attempts to tell Hotrenor-Taak about the conspiracy. The Keloskians manage to intercept him but using the Howalgonium on his body, Wegenrat accidentally incapacitates them. At this very moment, Laren guards enter the room and when they see the Keloskians unconscious, they kill Wegenrat instantly. Hotrenor-Taak then takes all the Keloskians with him to assist in the black hole operation.

On Gaia, Vanne tells Tifflor about the "Operation Pilgrim" designed by It, who intends to relocate the entirety of the NEI to the Earth. After hearing about the Larens gathering around an isolated star, Tifflor sends Vanne to investigate what is happening there.

When he finally locates the Solar System, Ernst Ellert is shocked to discover that the Earth is gone. He enters the transmitter and after rematerializing in the Maelstrom of Stars and not finding any more clues, decides to return into the Milky Way. The events that are happening around the star Arcur Beta draw him there and he enters the body of Vannes, the Concept sent by It. Without realizing what's happening, Vannes ejects Ellert from his body, and the disembodied spirit is cut loose again until it gets finally caught by It.

Ellert materializes in It's consciousness, who gives him some information about the recent events. The super-intelligence wants Ellert to contact Julian Tifflor, and to that purpose, he gives him a body and also the consciousness of a young genius kid called Ashdon.

Something goes wrong and Ellert/Ashdon rematerialize on a remote agricultural planet. Some time later, a spaceship commanded by a Gavok member called Marc lands on the planet and attempts to recruit some colons for the forthcoming rebellion against the Larens. Suspecting Ellert to be a Laren spy, Marc captures him and tries to interrogate him. Ellert manages to escape and, after taking control of the spaceship, heads toward a hidden NEI station codenamed Mosa North 444. From there, Ellert sends a message to Tifflor announcing him that he is back and that he needs to deliver a message from It.

The Keloskians are brought on Houxel, a planet located at 3.8 light years from Arcur Beta. While they are relieved to no longer be exposed to the Howalgonium radiations, they realize that their ability to calculate in seven dimensions is still severely impaired, and the Laren commander of the base starts having suspicions when the Keloskians fail to predict a neutron storm currently hitting the planet.

On the Pleyst, still hidden in a nearby sun, Anson Argyris and Kershyll Vanne intercept a Laren message and realize that the Keloskians are in difficulty. Argyris takes a shuttle and approaches Houxel, where he locates subterranean installations that were built hundreds of thousands of years ago by an extinct civilization. He receives a message from the mysterious buildings asking him if he is the "Guardian of the Heroes". Argyris ignores the question.

The Larens detect Argyris and capture him. Thinking they are dealing with a satellite, they hand him over to the Keloskians, who then proceed to tell their story to the Vario 500: the evolution of the star is progressing at a much higher rate than planned, but they are now incapable of predicting what is going to happen.

Argyris communicates the situation to Vanne and decides to investigate the Necropolis. When he enters the abandoned maze, he is confronted with traps and tests destined to see if he's worthy of being the new Guardian of the thousands of heroes who are conserved in that place. Argyris manages to reach the center of the maze and uses a fictive transmitter to teleport the remnants of the heroes into Arcur Beta.

When he rejoins the Keloskians, he receives a message from Vanne, who is on his way to them.

The Laren scientists on Houxel determine that Arcur Beta will turn into a black hole in one year, as opposed to the several decades that were initially planned. Vonks, the Laren commander, confronts the Keloskians about their error and they admit that their abilities have been impaired. To fix this problem, they ask the Laren to allow a man they call the Seven-D Man to come on the station so he can help them in their calculations. Vonks asks them to explain the story of this person. The Keloskians disclose the story that they just invented.

This "Seven-D Man", also called Kershyll Vanne, was a crewmember of the Sol back when the ship was in Balayndagar. Shortly before the Sol destroyed the galaxy, the Keloskians captured Vanne and manipulated his brain so that it would become capable of thinking like Keloskians. Then they returned him to the Sol where his mission was to destroy the spaceship. The plan failed and Vanne was imprisoned. When the Sol reached the Milky Way, Vanne escaped and started looking for the Keloskians. Recently, he learned about Arcur Beta and he is now on his way to Houxel.

With his multiple personality, Vanne has come to the same conclusion as the Keloskians and when he reaches the base, his interrogation by the Larens confirms the story of the Keloskians.

The incorrect calculations made by the Keloskians cause another violent hyperdimensional storm to erupt and Vanne, a Keloskian and a Laren disappear. They materialize on a world in another universe, in the proximity of nine towers. The Keloskian tells Vanne that these towers are built by a race called the Ruin People. All they know about this race is that the towers emit powerful hyperradiations at regular intervals, which is probably what caused the rip in the space time continuum.

Riding the next pulse, the three men are brought back to Houxel where Hotrenor-Taak has arrived in the meantime. First suspicious about Vanne, Hotrenor-Taak's are cleared when the Concept manages to prove him that he is indeed capable of thinking like the Keloskians.

Vanne realizes that while planned initially for eighty years, the plan devised by the Keloskians to chase the Larens from the Milky Way will actually take four years, of which three have already gone by.

816 - Meister der Gravitation
The Masters of Gravitation
William Voltz

On its quest to destroy all the Baby Majesties of the galaxy Ganuhr, the Sol is the witness of a battle between Hulkoos and unknown spaceships. The Hulkoos destroy the opponents and disappear. The Terrans manage to salvage a ship and bring its sole survivor on board. His name is Koerlaminth and he is a Varbenian. The Varbenians have a special organ that makes them sensitive to the surrounding lines of gravitation. Also, the belt that Koerlaminth wears causes a shock on Atlan, who is reminded of Atlantis and his former lieutenant, Razarnon. Before dying, Koerlaminth reveals the location of his home, where the Sol heads there to return the body.

The whole episode is actually a trap laid out by the three incarnations from Bardioc: Clermac, Shernoc and Vernoc. Their final goal is to destroy the Sol and the Terrans once and for all.

The Sol reaches the home of the Varbenians, called the Nest. It is comprised of three solar systems. The Varbenians live on the planets Daccomion and Baytuin, around the sun First Nest. The Sol is invited to land on Wassytoir, the only planet of the sun Third Nest.

The Terrans are welcomed on the planet but soon, three of them are reported missing. The mutants think that the missing people have been taken on Koriet, the second planet of the sun Second Nest. Rhodan sends Dalaimor Rorvic and Tatcher at Hainu to their research.

In the meantime, Rhodan fails in his attempts to convince the Varbenians of the threat of an attack from Clermac. After hearing about the mysterious ruler of the Varbenians called the "Heavy Mage", Rhodan sends Atlan and Breiskoll to find him. They don't suspect that the Heavy Mage is none else than the incarnation Vernoc.

Atlan and Breiskoll are discovered by the Varbenians who, irritated by the fact that their hosts didn't respect their world, sends the human delegation back on the Sol.

829 - Die List des Terraners
The Cunning of the Terrans
William Voltz

Three months have gond by since the gravitational catastrophe and Perry Rhodan decides to go back to the Varbenian system, hoping to get answers from the Heavy Mage. When they arrive there, they find a Varbenian civilization in chaos that still hasn't recovered from the alteration of the gravitational constant. Even the Heavy Mage is having difficulties and needs to be rescued, something that even the few Hulkoo ships left in the system can't manage.

The Mage, who is also the Incarnation Vernoc, decides to ask the Terrans for help. In exchange, the three Terrans that were kidnapped will be returned. Rhodan demands more in return: the Earth must be freed from the Baby Majesty and the Hulkoos have to withdraw unconditionally from the Medallion system. Vernoc reluctantly agrees.

Actually, Rhodan intends to kidnap the entity to make sure that it will respect its part of the deal. The operation begins and as soon as the Terrans are admitted in the residence of the Heavy Mage, the incarnation is immobilized by powerful paralyzing guns. The incarnation, contained in a five-meter diameter sphere that has now turned black, is brought back on the Sol which then flees immediately. The Hulkoos understand they have been duped but they react too late.

830 - Die vierte Inkarnation
The Fourth Incarnation
William Voltz

The SZ-1, that contains the incarnation, is separated from the Sol for safety. Rhodan ignores two things, though: the sphere contains actually the three incarnations of Bardioc: Vernoc, Clermac and Shernac. But the kidnapping has caused another unexpected event: Bulloc -- the Fourth incarnation -- awakens. This incarnation is more powerful than the other three combined and it decides to get rid of them, because they are useless to its plans.

Bulloc realizes that it is prisoner in the Sol but the Terrans are no match for it: it quickly takes mentally control of the crew of the SZ-1 and forces the rest of the Sol to put the spaceship together. The ten thousand crewmembers of the Sol are now under the control of Bulloc. Only one person has escaped Bulloc's influence: a man called Gahlmann who developed a disease that caused him to regress to the status of a rodent. Unfortunately, Gahlmann's intellectual abilities have also degraded and he cannot understand what is going on.

Alerted by Rhodan's crystal which suddenly started emitting strong impulses, Puukar and his fleet of three hundred ships heads toward the Sol. When they arrive, they realize that the four incarnations are on board the Terran ship and get ready to destroy it altogether. Rhodan contacts Puukar and manages to get a one hour reprieve by reminding the Choolk that he is also a loyal servant of the Empress of Therm, as his crystal proves it. Puukar reluctantly agrees.

On his way to the sphere, Rhodan bumps into Gahlmann who bites him. Bulloc is at a standstill: he cannot escape with the Sol since the Choolks will open fire immediately, and he cannot flee by himself or the Terrans will destroy him as soon as he leaves the Sol. Rhodan offers to come as a hostage inside the sphere. This way, the Terrans won't open fire on the incarnation, and he can disappear before the Choolks realize what's happening.

Impressed, Bulloc accepts. He asks Rhodan to get rid of his crystal and then incorporates him inside the sphere. Then he disappears. The Choolks understand they have been duped but the sphere is out of sight before they can react. Atlan tries to find clues as to where the sphere went, but except for a dark stain left where the sphere used to be, Rhodan's crystal left on the floor and the body of Gahlmann, who committed suicide, he has no idea where the incarnation fleed.

Atlan has no choice but order that the Sol return to the Earth since it has now been freed from the Baby Majesty. He hopes that some day, Rhodan will give them a sign.

Ronald Tekener and Jennifer Thyron left for the planet Terzrock aboard the PHORA. The Haluter on board are still extremely aggressive despite the shielding devices to protect them on Terzrock from the broadcast of the cannibal crystals. They are planning to destroy the crystals. Tekener and Thyron want to protect the intelligent crystals and embark via transmitter back to Terzrock, accompanied by the Haluter Erger Darg.

Tekener succeeds in establishing mental contact with the crystal forest. The crystals store emotions and radiate it again intensified. That they produce the chaos on Terzrock, is known by the crystals, but they can not help it. But they show Tekener that there is still a chance: The Brindors who live in the world Nosar, just 23 light years from Terzrock. They are the most peaceful and most sluggish creatures that Tekener has ever seen.

Cornor-Lerz picks them up from Terzrock, just in time before they fall victim to a maniacal giant Haluter. Then the three spaceships go to Nosar and pick up a total of 4,000 Brindors. The Brindors are so sluggish, they do not even respond to a volcano that killls some of them.

The experiment succeeds: as the Brindors are brought to a larger crystal forest, they quickly lose their inertia. But the Haluter present are finally normal again and lose their aggression. Tekener and Thyron can also bring to a crystal forest Croor Ross, the leader of the aggressive Haluter.

Five months later, the situation has normalized again on Terzrock. And the Brindors are also helped. They have lost their inertia, which in the end would mean their doom. Tekener and Thyron now persuade the Haluter to go to the Milky Way with a fleet of 112 ships in support of the NEI and the GAVÖK. The Haluter install a time-slot in which the cell activators can be safely stored prior to mitosis radiation.

Arriving in the Milky Way, Croor Ross once again loses control of himself and engages a superior group of SVE spacers. His ship, the TORGORTH, remains as a wreck. Although Tekener and Thyron are saved, their cellular activators have been left behind on the destroyed ship. Just in time Tekener rescues them. 850 - BARDIOC
Bardioc

After it successfully destroyed the incarnations Clermac, Vernoc and Shernoc, Bulloc reaches the planet Parfox-Par, in the galaxy Barxoft, which is where Bardioc lives. Though the super-intelligence is nowhere to be seen, Rhodan realizes that it lives in symbiosis with the whole planet, directing the plants, the animals and also Hulkoos, who have entire fleets of spaceships in the vicinity and are busy picking up Baby Majesties off the planet and taking them to unknown destinations. Bulloc decides to tell Rhodan the history of Bardioc.

In a distant past.

The seven Mighties -- also called the Timeless Ones -- Ariolc, Bardioc, Ganerc, Kemoauc, Lorvorc, Murcon and Partoc used to live in the Cosmic Castles until one day, they received the Call, a message from an area of space beyond the Matter Sources. They all met on the Plane, an area in the middle of space where they were received by a one-eyed robot called Laire.

The Mighties receive the mission to create a gigantic structure made of planets called the Swarm and to drive it through areas in space in order to disseminate life using to a special radiation coming from Spore Ships. They assign the control of the Swarm to a people called the Cynos. However, Bardioc has a lot of ambition and wants to create his own kingdom. As he is on his way to assist in the creation of the Swarm, he finds Laire on board his ship and realizes that the robot has similar intentions. Since he doesn't have any use of the robot for now, Bardioc abandons him on a planet of the Swarm, telling him he will pick him up later.

Following an intuition, Ganerc decides to become a Swarm Guardian. He changes his name to Gallibso, changes himself into a gnome and dons the Suit of Annihilation, a suit with unique capabilities, and sets off to make sure that the Swarm is proceeding as planned. The first race picked up by the Swarm is a race called the Karties, and as centuries go by, thirty-six more races join in the construction of the Swarm.

The Swarm was supposed to cross the Milky Way in five hundred thousand years, however, a complication happened: the Suprahet, a creature made of pure energy appeared in the Milky Way but was successfully defeated by the thirty-six races and then turned into antimatter. A warning in the form of an observatory was left for future races about the Suprahet (this observatory was discovered by the Terrans in Heft 152).

Afraid that the creation of too many intelligent races would get in the way of his plan, Bardioc decides to sabotage the Swarm. He manipulates a race of insects which become the Karduuhls after an evolution period of twenty thousand years. Bardioc also needs to neutralize Ganerc/Gallibso, so he steals the Suit of Annihilation and hides it on Stato II, a planet inside the Swarm.

Laire finally finds Bardioc and asks him about his plans. Bardioc complies and suddenly realizes that he has been tricked: he is actually talking to Kemoauc, who took the shape of the robot in order to confront him. Kemoauc brings Bardioc back on the Plane where he is put on trial. The other Mighties decide to condemn him to disembodiment: his brain will be placed inside a hermetic capsule and abandoned on a planet.

Millenia go by and Callibso eventually recovers the Suit of Annihilation. He returns to the Plane but finds it partially destroyed. Puzzled, he flies to the Cosmic Castles of his former compatriots to figure out what is going on. Ariolc's Castle is abandonced, Lorvirc's is destroyed and Murcon's is controlled by strangers. Kemoauc finds a skeleton inside Partoc's Castle and discovers that Kemoauc's Castle is the only one intact, but that it's locked.

Discouraged, Callibso goes back to his Castle. More time goes by and as he has lost all hope to ever see anyone again, he receives a new Call. However, he realizes, this Call is destined to different people, who are probably the successors of the Mighties.

In a distant past.

The galaxy Barxoft has the particularity to have a strong blue radiance emanating from its center. The radiation affects Bardioc's capsule which slowly starts to erode from the inside. Bardioc's brain makes contact with the surrounding plants and soon, the animals on the planet. He falls into a deep sleep while keeping a strong control over the whole planet. His power keeps getting stronger and he soon hypnotizes a spaceship from a race called the Hulkoos, that was visiting Barxoft. The Hulkoos fall under the influence of Bardioc who orders them to take portions of his genetic matter, the Baby Majesties, to other planets within the galaxy in order to enslave them.

In an attempt to recover his lost body, Bardioc creates the first incarnation: Clermac. However, the creature is so ugly that Bardioc has to hide it behind a Psi Reflector, some sort of shield that appears as a sphere. In the next centuries, Bardioc creates the incarnations Vernoc and then Shernoc, thus increasing his power, but in his eyes, these experimentations are failures since he can't use them to recover a body. Bardioc decides to be more careful when creating the fourth incarnation.

As Bardioc's expansion is progressing, the Hulkoos finally meet another race that shows some fierce resistance and eventually manages to defeat them. They claim to serve a super-intelligence called the Empress of Therm and tell Bardioc that he shouldn't try to expand his Sphere of Influence any further.

The present.

Bulloc releases Rhodan periodically while he goes on a mysterious quest. Rhodan realizes quickly that Bulloc is trying to find Bardioc, whom he has never met. After learning about Bardioc's history, it becomes clear to Rhodan that Bulloc has no other intention than killing the super-intelligence in its sleep and take its place.

Rhodan makes contact with a creature who was brought by accident in a Hulkoo spaceship named Onklantson. Onklantson turns out to be a precious ally but he can't help Rhodan contact Bardioc. However, he acts as an intermediary and allows Rhodan to talk to a Hulkoo commander. The Hulkoos are defiant from Rhodan but the sudden appearance of Bulloc interrupts the meeting. Rhodan knows that his fate is sealed: since he can't fight Bulloc's mental power, he will soon be killed by the incarnation.

As he runs away in a futile attempt to escape, he is suddenly surrounded by hundreds of animals. Bulloc's mental attack reaches him but very weakened. Rhodan understands that somehow, Bardioc heard his call and that the super-intelligence is now trying to protect him. Rhodan realizes that the only reason why an intelligent being has finally made contact with Bardioc is thanks to the bite he received from Gahlmann on the Sol earlier. Rhodan falls asleep on the ground and plants soon recover his body, creating a symbiosis between him and Bardioc.

In his Cosmic Castle, Ganerc finds a message from Kemoauc, who tells him that Ariolc has turned crazy, Murcon has been killed by strangers, Partoc is dead and Lorvorc has built a tomb in his Castle. The message ends by a warning telling him to stay away from the Sources of Matter. Ganerc shuts down his Castle and leaves for Bardioc's world.

The Ghost of the Spirit
Ernst Vlcek

Boyt Margor tells his story to the psychologist...

In 3491, Virna Maloy, a resident from Gaia, followed a Karzel-Kold, a Vincranian, inside Provcon-Faust. Karzel-Kold wanted to investigate the Zwottans, a civilization that creates objects called psychods using their mental forces.

A year later, Virna Maloy gave birth to a child who seemed to be influenced by the psychods. She went back on Gaia but left the child with the Zwottans. Six years later, a Vincranian brought the child back to Virna Maloy, who baptized him Boyt Margor. Soon, the boy started showing powerful parapsychic abilities.

After his mother's death, Boyt Margor decided to use his skills to create a power by enslaving people, not hesitating to kill anyone who would get in his way. A few years later, he confronted three other Gaian mutants, Howatzer, Vapido and Gedan, who freed his slaves and forced him to flee.

Margor destroyed the psychods that his father had left him so that nobody else would be able to use them.

At the end of the interview, Margor kills the psychologist.

Meeting on a Dead World
H.G. Ewers

Guy and Mabel Nelson discover an unknown part of Tengri Lethos' Eternity ship. As they explore it, they trigger a protection that miniaturizes them. They end up in a place called the Eternal City. They try to call Tengri Lethos for help but the Hathor doesn't respond.

Responding to a call from It, Kershyll Vanne arrives in the area of space called Porpoulo-Danger, where a dust coat several million kilometers big is preventing further detection. Vanne enters the dust coat and discovers a planet he names Lavallal. On the planet, he finds dead bodies and realizes that Tengri Lethos' Eternity spaceship is on the planet. Lavallal was just transfered from another universe and collided with the Eternity ship.

Vanne meets with Wastor, an android sent by It, who tells him about a mission that the humanity must undertake. The Terrans must put together a fleet and head toward a location that the android gives Vanne. There, they will find something called Pan-Thau-Ra that must be restored in its original role, or numerous galaxies will sink into chaos and millions of people will die.

The area around Lavallal becomes instable and Tengri Lethos is forced to abandon his ship. Vanne takes him on board his spaceship and they both leave Lavallal, which soon disappears, returning to where it came from. Lethos is injured during the escape but he is decided to recover his Eternity ship one day.

The Aphilie Legacy
Kurt Mahr

On the Moon, a whole sector of Nathan starts requiring huge amounts of energy. Payne Hamiller goes investigating but before leaving, he informs Boyt Margor, who has enslaved him mentally.

Nathan makes contact with Hamiller through Raphael, and he explains that what he is undertaking is destined to serve the humanity. Raphael walks Hamiller through the sector and explains to him that in order to achieve this mysterious task, Nathan is using jellyfish-like creatures called the Verknotians. The Aphilians discovered these creatures in the maelstrom and discovered that they were able to miniaturize any kind of components, hence making up for the absence of Sigan technology.

The Aphilians started a program to create a big fleet in case they would have to evacuate and Nathan took over in order to undertake the project. However, Raphael tells Hamiller that the Verknotians need an extra supply of howalgonium in order to finish their task.

Hamiller decides to trust Nathan and has howalgonium shipped to the Moon. In exchange, he learns the name of the object that Nathan is creating: the Base.

859 - Ring der Gewalt
Ring of Violence
Hans Kneifel

Ninety-six years ago, the heavily damaged spaceship KARMA, on the run from the Laren and the Uberheavies, made an emergency landing on the planet Vorcher Pool, the second planet of a small, red sun, about 30,000 light-years away from the Sol system. There the small settlement of refugees in the jungle world is surrounded by the ring of violence, a five-kilometer-wide zone full of deadly plants and animals that kill everyone in the apparatus’ vicinity.

The only exception is the twenty-six year od Hytawath Borl. His mother had been bitten shortly before his birth by a tiny Spring snake and died during his birth from the venom of the snake - the same poison, equipped by thousands of different plants and animals in the ring of violence. Apparently Hytawath Borl has thus received a sort of immunity, and the beasts of the planet shy away from killing him. The 3,000 inhabitants of the settlement are dependent on him, because he is the only person that can penetrate the ring of violence and bring food to the settlement, which he procures from the primitive natives of the planet and their leader Rrussu.

But the road through the ring becomes more dangerous for Borl. On the way back to the settlement he is attacked by a new species, whose sole aim is to kill him. The massive animal is heavily armored and can withstand a direct radiator shot. Finally, the animal is killed by Rrussu with a spear. But now the settlement is attacked by the ring of violence. Mighty roots penetrate under the electric fence surrounding the settlement, and thousands of animals sacrifice themselves in order to penetrate the electric fence and a four-meter-wide acid moat. More than a hundred units of the new species can only be stopped by the last still-functioning ship guns, and in the end the attack is once again repulsed.

The settlement is at its end, and some of the settlers begin to fall into madness. Trubohn Cherkel believes Hytawath Borl can bring him through the ring of violence and to safety. At night he forces Borl to lead him through the ring. But Borl‘s immunity does not help Trubohn Cherkel and when it comes to more and more attacks against him the two just manage to  save themselve getting back to the settlement. On the other hand, Donar Welz imagines that Borl cooperates with the planet, and that one needs to kill only Borl to end the attacks against the settlement. Hytawath Borl is forced to leave the settlement.

Then a collector ship flies to the planet. The GRYZ had first taken on board 500 Terran from a small colony, but then followed a call for help to escape a colony on Tharok III where the crew was overwhelmed by 300 Ertrusers. The Ertrusers abandon the Terrans and decide to search for the KARMA and, if necessary, to destroy the Hyper station. But their plans are overheard by Hytawath Borl.

He returns to the settlement, and when the Ertrusers get there, they will be met. In a two-hour long battle the Ertrusers are overwhelmed. They are left in the settlement and the GRYZ takes the settlers. The original crew is picked up and then flies the GRYZ to Earth. On 20 February 3586 they arrive there and are greeted by Ronald Tekener. Now Hytawath Borl is waiting for new duties.

860 - Rückkehr des Zeitlosen
The Return of the Timeless
William Voltz

Perry Rhodan is now participating actively in Bardioc's dream. He tries to send him a message and warn him that Bulloc is trying to destroy him, but he can't find a direct way to talk to the super-intelligence. He decides to influence the dream by planting images coming from the past of the Terrans: the Masters of the Island, the Supermutant, Anti-It, the Takerians and the Ulebs. However, Bardioc seems to refuse the realities that Rhodan is trying to superimpose.

Ganerc-Callibso lands on Bardioc's planet and meets with Bulloc. He quickly understands that the incarnation has become an enemy of Bardioc and tells him he doesn't intend to help him find the brain. Ganerc learns that Rhodan is also on the planet and while he never met him directly, he remembers hearing his name while he was the guardian of the Swarm. When Bulloc realizes that he won't get Ganerc to help him and that he can't kill him either because the Timeless is wearing the Suit of Annihilation, he flies off and resumes his search for Bardioc.

Ganerc is then contacted by Kytoma, who is sent by Kemoauc. She is the new guardian of the Swarm. Kytoma is actively looking for her people, who were once manipulated by the Timeless but finally broke free, and then decided to go beyond the Matter Sources. Kytoma never heard from them since then and is afraid that they might have disappeared in a Matter Sink. Kytoma promises Ganerc that she will help Bardioc recover his spore-ship so that the fragile balance between Matter Sources and Matter Sinks don't get destabilized.

Rhodan's vision of the Ulebs finally wakes Bardioc up. His influence on the Baby Majesties immediately ceases and across his Sphere of Influence, hundreds of races suddenly recover their freedom. Ganerc-Callibso finally meets Rhodan and tells him that they must help Bardioc in order to recover his spore ship.

Guided by the strong mental impulses broadcast by Bardioc and Bulloc, the Sol locates Bardioc's planet and reaches its orbit. Informed of the situation by Kytoma, the mutants form a powerful psy-block and chase Bulloc, who runs away.

A shuttle picks up Rhodan who tells his friends that he wants to take Bardioc's brain to the Empress of Therm.

Before he leaves the planet, Bulloc instructs the Hulkoos to attack the Terrans and to destroy Bardioc. The Hulkoo commander is baffled by this order and he decides to contact the Terrans to clarify the situation. Perry Rhodan meets with him and explains the recent events. Realizing that Bardioc as he knew it no longer exists, the Hulkoo commander calls off the attack.

Callibso finally finds Bardioc's brain and the transfer to the Sol starts. However, the Solanians are resolutely opposed to the operation and Rhodan has to negociate with them in order to complete the mission. He promises them that soon, he will give them the Sol, but that they need to take Bardioc to the Empress of Therm first. The Solanians comply reluctantly.

The Sol heads out toward Drackrioch, however, Bardioc is now beginning to realize the extent of what he has done and he attempts to commit suicide several times. Realizing that Bardioc's attempts might endanger the Sol, Rhodan tries to communicate with the brain and finally gets his attention. More discussions follow and Rhodan slowly gains Bardioc's confidence, who is beginning to realize that there might be a future for him once they reach the Empress of Therm's sphere of influence.

Rhodan manages to get the coordinates of Bardioc's spore ship and as he is about to leave, asks if the ship has a name. Bardioc answers Pan Thau Ra.

On the Earth, Tifflor receives a message for help from Harno, who is still in Gaia. Worried, Tifflor dispatches Homer Adams coupled with the consciousness of Betty Toufry to Provcon-Faust. Hotrenor-Taak volunteers to join them.

In Gaia, Harno has developed an area around himself that Hotrenor-Taak identifies as a time bubble. Harno asks Hotrenor-Taak to take him to Mugnammor, a planet two hundred light years away. When they get there, Harno's time bubble expands and both of them are hurled eight thousand years in the past, on the Earth.

Harno and Hotrenor-Taak witness a ceremony on the island of Crete where a woman called Demeter, and obviously not of Terran origin, is receiving gifts from natives adoring her.

In the present, Homer Adams and Betty Toufry arrive on Mugnammor and after being sent to a more recent past themselves, they return to the present where they install a project that soon brings back Hotrenor-Taak and Harno to the present. Harno says that what happened was caused by an entity that he can't identify. Hotrenor-Taak then leaves for an unknown destination.

Boyt Margor assumes that a signal was sent when they moved the sarcophagus, taking the young woman under its influence. Convinced that she knows how to revive Demeter, Margor orders Jandra to open the sarcophagus, but the young woman, who seems immune to Margor's influence, refuses. A fight ensues, in which Kays gets killed.

Margor forces the sarcophagus open and the psychic blast that results kills all the scientists. The mutant flees with Demeter, still in a coma. The three mutants on Margor's tracks arrive at the laboratory but it's too late, Margor is gone.

However, Seneca now opposes the initial plan, which was to merge Bardioc and the Empress. It pretends that the association of Sol and Bardioc is destined to become a new super-intelligence.

Rhodan begins to realize that all this time, he has been manipulated by the Empress of Therm, who had predicted that he would be able to awake Bardioc and thereby, destroy him. Thanks to the help of the two robots Romeo and Juliet, Bardioc manages to get rid of Seneca's protective field.
