570 - Die Stimmen der Qual
The Voices Of Agony
Ernst Vlcek

On 5 June 3443, at the time of the departure of the “Swarm”, humanity has recovered its mental faculties but for nearly all humans there is a spiritual unbalance that continues to linger, making them very unstable and influenciable. As a result, due to the turmoil of the previous year, a domestic crisis now prevails and this is having a major impact on the upcoming elections for the office of Great Administrator (scheduled for August 1, 3444). Criticism has grown regarding the behavior of Rhodan during the crisis of the “Swarm”. At the time of the elections for the Planetary Administrators in January 3444, one hundred and thirty Administrators on the side of Rhodan lose their seats. Several candidates for the position of Great Administrator benefit from the vacillating popularity of Rhodan. One of them is Munisho Aerce of the “Social-Galactic Federation for the Right of Citizens”, already elected as the new ruler of Plophos. He is an appreciated expert who is undisputed in social matters. Rhodan himself threatens to resign. He doubts that humanity needs him again. He does, however, get along well with Merytot Bowarote of the “Tolerant Galactic Union”, who also happens to be the new Planetary Administrator of the Earth (Terra). Bowarote has been given great credit for the Terran economy and contacts with foreign nations. Marshal Bount Terhera of the “League for the Galactic Solar Interests”, who also happens to be the chief of the 43rd Strategic Fleet, leads an aggressive electoral battle. He criticizes the hesitant behavior of Rhodan and his lack of toughness facing the “Swarm”.

At this same moment in time, the inhabitants of the planet Asporc are under the control of the Voices of Agony (Torment), a mysterious mental power. The voices force the Asporco, Alantor Myns, to investigate the Terran vessel EX-887-VRT. Back on June 4, 3440, this explorer ship had left the Earth with a small crew to catalog the Superior North Center sector. The ship had disappeared since. Unknown to the officials back on Terra, it landed on the then unknown planet Asporc and, due to unknown circumstances that are not very clear, the fifteen member terran crew killed itself during the stupefying phase of the Swarm. The Asporco scientists who go on board the EX-887-VRT to investigate the unknown Terran technology are trapped when the ship receives a hyperimpulse of mysterious origin which initiates a return trip to Terra. The Asporcos then trigger an automatic defense system by accident. They are all killed by combat robots except Heydrac Koat.

Heydrac Koat reaches the Solar System and lands in northern Siberia on February 12, 3444. He has a green humanoid body carrying vestiges of wings on the arms and the legs. The head is pear shaped and has two multifaceted eyes and two crimson crests linked (bound) by a metal hexadimensionnel object. Reginald Bell, Galbraith Deighton and seven other scientists enter the ship and discover Heydrac Koat. He is interrogated by the mutants (to include Pucky, Irmina Kotschistowa, Fellmer Lloyd, Merkosh, Ras Tschubai, Balton Wyt and Dalaimoc Rorvic.). They learn that the Asporcos utilize nuclear-power for space flight but they have not yet mastered faster-then-light space travel. The Voices of Agony then seize Heydrac Koat and trigger a psi-storm. The mutants can not resist the powerful parapsychic force. They are successful, however, in isolating Asporco under a paratron shield. Heydrac Koat eventually awakes from a death-like state and tells Perry Rhodan: "Help my people or it will disappear." In great secret Rhodan sends the cruiser OSSATA toward Asporc.

571 - Raumschiff der Besessenen
Spaceship Of The Possessed
Ernst Vlcek

Perry Rhodan swears the mutants into a “New Mutant Corps”. After the growth of a slanderous campaign against Munisho Aerce and Merytot Bowarote, Perry Rhodan faces Marshal Bount Terhera personally. He speaks with him about the criminal acts carried out by his chief of propaganda and his own mistakes in the past. He asks for his political adversary to compromise better. On 8 March 3444, the parliament meets in Solar Hall. It is generally expected that the Great Administrator will publically respond in this forum to the reproaches that have been leveled against him. However, instead Rhodan reviews the events that occurred following the landing of the EX-887-VRT. He announces at the same time that he will personally lead an expedition to Asporc in the Rattley System.

Since, after three weeks, there still is no news from the OSSATA, Rhodan leaves on March 10, 3444 in the heavy cruiser TIMOR for the planet Asporc. During the flight the Asporco Heydrac Koat states that the “Voices of Agony” arrived on his planet three years ago. He indicates that his entire people, consisting of several billion individuals, were affected differently by the Swarm’s “stupidity phase” which resulted from the manipulation of the five-dimensional gravitation constants. Instead of suffering through a "stupidity phase" the Asparcos had an "awakening of the spirit" with a sudden increase of intelligence. Through this awakening of the mind, a rapid development of science and technology took place in three years. Tatcher A Hainu develops the theory that this is connected with the clip, which consists of a six-dimensional radiating material (metal) that all Asparcos carry on the head. It gives them the ability of “Dark Vision” and “Special Hearing”.

The atmosphere on board the TIMOR becames increasingly strained. At the time of a new attack, the “Voices of Agony” do not use Heydrac Koat but another crewmember, the pseudo-neanderthal Lord Zwiebus, as catalyst (although this is not realized immediately). The first incident involves the Emotionaut Mentro Kosum who subconsciously manipulates the course of the vessel. As a result, Alaska Saedelaere is forced to knock Mentro unconscious with a paralyzer weapon. During one of the questioning sessions with Heydrac Koat, Pucky suddenly materializes and knocks out Takvorian with a paralyzer weapon after Takvorian had included everyone present with Heydrac Koat in a time-restraining field. Tatcher A Hainu prevents Heydrac Koat from being murdered when methane is introduced into his quarantine cubicle. It is not determined who is responsible for introducing this deadly atmosphere into Heydrac’s room. Since the “Voices of Agony” have not attempted to take control of the TIMOR through Heydrac Koat, the assumption is made that now another crew member has taken over this function. Further incidents occur: Irmina Kotschistowa invokes symptoms of the smallpox of Lashat; Tolot runs amok; and Rhodan's symbiot, Whisper, tries to strangle him. Roi Danton realizes that Lord Zwiebus is the catalyst and places a trap for him. However, the trap fails and the “Voices of Agony” return to Heydrak Koat.. The attacks that follow cannot be repulsed by the mental block of the mutants, invoking chaos on the vessel. Atlan realizes that this time the para attack is more uncoordinated then the earlier attack on the EX-887-VRT. Just before Lord Zwiebus is about to kill Heydrac Koat, Perry Rhodan orders him to lower his weapon. Immediately the parapsychic attacks stop.

In orbit around Asporc, the mutants receive from its inhabitants impulses of craziness. By radio the last survivor of the OSSATA (before becoming a victim to the unknown power himself) informs the crew of the TIMOR that all the other members of the OSSATA crew had become mad and were eaten by monsters. Since everybody on board, with the exception of the mutants, demand to land on Asporc as soon as possible, Mentro Kosum lands the TIMOR in an uninhabited sector of the planet.

The Hour Of The Symbiont
Kurt Mahr

Protected by a SERT helmet from the parapsychic influence under which the entire crew of the TIMOR is victim, the emotionaut, Mentro Kosum, discovers that a crew member is responsible for putting in danger the vessel, the crew and the inhabitants of the planet. He brings the TIMOR a safe distance from Asporc.

The vessel approaches the Bieytl System. Colonists from Asporc reached this system and landed on the planet Portzschest one hundred eighty years ago. The hexadimensionnel radiation of the Asporco’s crest awakens in Whisper, the symbiont of Perry Rhodan, the desire for a new body. It seizes the Great Administrator psychically. It then forces Rhodan to manipulate the automatic pilot of the vessel. After the landing of the TIMOR, Whisper forces Rhodan to flee toward the colonists who have reverted back to a primitive state. Rhodan reaches their chief, the Morlch Vrakt, who possesses two ceremonial crests. Whisper then leaves Rhodan and joins with the Morlch Vrakt. The danger presented by the huge parapsychic radiance that is thereby created forces Mentro Kosum, who followed Rhodan, to kill at the last minute the Morlch Vrakt, and as a result, Whisper as well. The TIMOR leaves Portzschest.

According to rumors, Munisho Aerce, the planetary administrator of Plophos, wants to support the proposition of Bount Terhera who is calling for the advancement of the election date for Great Administrator.

A message confirming that the chief of Plophos is the victim of blackmail is discovered on 14 March 3444 in a vessel coming from the Eugaul System. Galbraith Deighton sends Orana Sestore and Sandal Tolk to Plophos in order to discover if Terhera hides behind the blackmail. Tolk, who plays the role as Sestore Orana’s official bodyguard, is captured by the anti Horcyrov Vuzton. It is he that is actually blackmailing Munisho Aerce and, as a result, influencing her decisions regarding Terran politics and the election date. Sandal Tolk escapes and enters into contact with the Plophosian authorities. Threatened by the ultimate failure of his plans, the anti flees and is killed by Tolk.

Munisho Aerce remains in her position as the planetary administrator of Plophos and is now, like Merytot Bowarote, able to once again support the original date for the elections.

574 - Das Himmelsmetall
The Heaven Metal
Clark Darlton

During the return trip to the Rattley System, the TIMOR meets a generation vessel with which the Asporcos are trying to reach a neighboring solar system. A peaceful contact takes place between the Asporcos and the Terrans. The Terrans learn that the metal the Asporcos wear in their crests is of a gray and malleable origin. At thirteen years of age, it is surgically attached to a young Asporc in a rite of passage and, at that time, it takes on a hard shape and a turquoise color due to the influence of the quintidimensionnel mental impulses of its bearer. The Crest Metal receives the name “Para-emotional Changing Metal” - PEW Metal for short.

After arriving at Asporc, the fourth planet of the Rattley System, the positronic technicians begins to study the computer records of the OSSATA. Meanwhile, the TIMOR also discovers a strange meteoroid which has crashed into the planet surface sometime in the distant past. Atlan, Pucky, Ras Tschubai, Icho Tolot, Ribald Corello and Takvorian penetrate a system of galleries dug into the meteoroid which is seventy kilometers high and shaped like a horse-shoe. The priests of the Asporcos get their PEW-metal, which they call the “heaven metal”, solely from this meteorioid. In order to avoid detection by the Asporcos, Atlan and his companions hide in a cave. The unusually strong mental impulses of the mutants modify the PEW-metal surrounding them in the walls of the cave, transforming the metal into its hard and turquoise form. As a result, the cave becomes a para-jail preventing all flight by teleportation or the use of a transmitter.

On 5 April 3444 a new wave of influence, known as the “Voices of Pain (or Agony)” by the Asporcos, descends upon the crew of the TIMOR and the inhabitants of the planet Asporc. Mentro Kosum brings the TIMOR away from the planet when it is attacked by the Asporcos with atomic weapons. At the same moment this mysterious power allows Atlan, Pucky, Ras Tschubai, Icho Tolot, Ribald Corello and Takvorian to escape their jail inside the meteoroid. Under permanent attack by the “Voices of Pain”, the Arkonide and his companions manage to reach the ruins of a troglodyte city deep inside the meteorite. The city is surrounded by a sea of magma. For some mysterious reason, the “Voices of Pain” do not penetrate into the city itself. They meet the Asporco priest, Alombo Troyd-Samare, who doesn't hear the Voices anymore after a fall. In order to avoid other parapsychic attacks, Atlan and his companions have themselves paralyzed by Terran robots which were dispatched from the TIMOR before it fled the planet and have now caught up with Atlan and his group. The robots bring them to the OSSATA from where they are recovered by the TIMOR. During the flight back to the Solar System, new waves of influence occur. They stop when a robot which brought along some PEW-Metal is discovered and is cast overboard.

576 - Ein Mutant verschwindet
A Mutant Vanishes (Disappears)
William Voltz

After the landing of the TIMOR on the Earth, Perry Rhodan informs the Terran Parliament about the events on the planet Asporc. He falls into the trap of involuntarily playing Bount Terhera’s game who had already announced ahead of time that Perry Rhodan would try to consolidate his position as Great Administrator by presenting the Earth with an extraterrestrial danger.

Alaska Saedelaere meets Kytoma again. She informs him of a suicide attempt by Ribald Corello in one of the engine rooms of the TIMOR. The Supermutant is saved by Alaska but soon afterwards he disappears from the ship by teleporting himself from his cabin. On 20 April 3444 he penetrates into the power station of a factory located near the city of Addardin in South Asia and tries to reach the reactor core in order to kill himself thru exposure to high levels of radiation. Corello is trying to kill himself because he realizes that he has fallen under the power of an unknown force which poses a serious threat to the Earth. The mutants of the New Mutant Corps hurry to the scene but cannot capture him. Corello runs away again (by means of teleportation) and hides in a cornfield.

Meanwhile, Kytoma, who belongs to the race that built the Swarm, brings Saedelaere and Captain Chirkio Rakkells to an unknown planet. She wants to find the access to a hidden city of the Swarm buildiers. This race was composed of the mental union of thirty-six highly civilized races. They wanted to bring intelligence to the entire universe with the help of the Swarm. By doing this, they hoped to bring other races into their union until finally all life in the universe was united. Kytoma remained in the Milky Way as an observer after the swarm had been handed over to the Cynos. As a result, she lost contact with her people. She takes Saedelaere and Rakkells to the talking waters of the sea of Talsamon and then opens the gates of the hidden city of her people. This city, which Kytoma enters with Alaska, is a harmonious disposition of transparent bodies. It unites three planes of existence. The city also received the soul of its builders. Kytoma finds the evidence which will enable her to return to her own people. When she leaves the city with Saedelaere, they discover that Rakkells has disappeared. Kytoma explains to Saedelaere that Rakkells didn’t have any luck while fighting to enter the city after them. The city forcefully ejected him and he has been lost forever in a different plane of existence. She brings Alaska back to Earth where he ends up landing in a cornfield. Could it be the same one that Corello is in?

Alaska Saedelaere meets Ribald Corello and is enslaved mentally by the Supermutant who is himself controlled by foreign minds. He is forced to help Corello to flee before the mutants of the New Mutant Corps. In fact, he must finally carry the Supermutant when Corello loses his robot carrier in a confrontation with Fellmer Lloyd and Ras Tschubai. Corello and Saedelaere penetrate into the TIMOR after having wandered all over the surface of the Earth. They obtain a new robot carrier, some additional equipment and micro-bombs. Bount Terhera uses the worldwide search for Corello to his advantage in the electoral battle with Perry Rhodan. He agrees to help in the hunt for Corello and rushes in with his specialists who include many from alien races. Corello is forced by his masters to hide with his slave Saedelaere on the GNOMA, a boat of leisure, in the South Pacific. Eventually Corello and Saedelaere leave the boat by teleportation for an unknown destination in or around the many islands of the South Pacific.

Possessing great knowledge, the mysterious psychic masters of Ribald Corello force the Supermutant to go to the island of Vavitoe in the South Seas (South Pacific). When Alaska Saedelaere tries to escape, these mysterious minds warn Corello. As a result, the Supermutant brings Alaska back under his control. Corello and Saedelaere penetrate into a hidden Lemurian installation. They awaken the Lemurian biogeneticist Vauw Onacro, who has been in a state of suspended animation for fifty thousand years. Posing as Lemurian (Tefrodian) ambassadors from the Andromeda Galaxy, they convince Onacro that the war against the Halutians was won by the Lemurians thirty-two years before. Corello orders Vauw Onacro to complete his original mission: to accelerate the growth of the bodies of androids (clones) to the stage of development of a man of twenty-four years of age. These bodies, however, lack minds which will have to be electronically imprinted on the organic brains of the androids. Originally meant to help repopulate the Lemurian worlds in the Milky Way after their great manpower losses in the war with the Halutians, it is unclear why Corello has been ordered by his mysterious psychic masters to initiate the production of billions of mindless androids. Meanwhile, Perry Rhodan, Fellmer Lloyd, Dalaimoc Rorvic and Tatcher a Hainu are attracted by the numerous unexplained hypnotic influences to the underwater city of Vahoe at the base of the island of Vavitoe. They save two children who, while trapped in an underwater train station, were able to escape certain death with an escape capsule installed in an adjacent underwater base built several centuries before by a Master of the Island who was an opponent of Factor I. Unfortunately, Perry Rhodan and his team have still not been able to locate and capture Ribald Corello. The search must continue!

While Vauw Onacro wakes up other Lemurian scientists he receives the order from Ribald Corello to construct eight normal synthos, a woman and seven men, in an accelerated manner from the remaining cells still available in the ancient lab. Alaska Saedelaere, who succeeds in freeing himself during a short moment from Corello’s power, informs Onacro on the truth. In secret Onacro conceives six identical sextuplets from one of the eight cells. They are used like psychic vampires against the Supermutant. Corello and his unknown masters kill five of the six sextuplets but must flee with the eight synthos and Alaska Saedelaeres before the end of the program. On 9 May 3444, Perry Rhodan and a commando team enter the Lemurian station following the detection of the increasing energetic activities. Rhodan and his people cannot stop the nuclear reactor of the station from exploding and killing all the remaining Lemurian scientists.

In mid May 3444, Nathan affirms on the basis of the facts presented that the minds that control Ribald Corello are the consciences of the mutants Tako Kakuta, André Noir, Wuriu Sengu, Son Okura, Kitai Ishibashi, Tama Yokida, Ralf Marten and Betty Toufry - in effect, the mutants who all died at the time of the Second Genesis Crisis in the year 2909. At the same moment seven illegal identification cards are created on the Earth through the secret manipulation of registration robots.

For the past three hundred years, the sect of the Time Knights has voluntarily lived in nineteenth century conditions in Porvenir, a village on the coast of the Tierra del Fuego in far southern Chile. An unknown man named Hatco Illroy arrives in the village. Pucky travels to Porvenir, followed by Perry Rhodan and Atlan. He recognizes in Illroy one of the Lemurian Synthos. When Rhodan paralyzes the artificial man, the Syntho is rescued by Ribald Corello and brought to safety in the last moment.

Professor Lorc Muhinau studies the remains of the planet Zeut. He discovers a research installation of Vauw Onacro in the asteroid LM-411, baptized Anorrom. On a recording the Lémurian states that the synthos received, as a security measure, the faculty to decide between friend and enemy. They are vowed to defend the Lemurian Empire against its enemies.

The detective Rock Looman is enrolled in the service of Bount Terhera who wants to prove that Perry Rhodan utilizes the New Mutant Corps in an abusive manner. Looman follows the trail of the Supermutant Ribald Corello. His investigation leads him to the Central Administration of Statistics directed by doctor Eldor Savrin in the city Sayn Shanda. One of the synthos has even entered the service of Eldor Savrin under the name of Bivar Onrain in order to obtain an identification card. When the mutant ghosts, who must constantly fight their synthos bodies, try to force Savrin to deliver to them the ID cards, Savrin rebels and tries to inform the Solar Defense. The synthos Bivar Onrain flees with the help of Corello. Looman knocks out Savrin in order to erase all traces of his presence.

On 22 May 3444, Rhodan makes an announcement on all the media outlets which is directed specifically at the eight mutants in the synthos bodies. He proposes to meet with them on the following day in Complex 14, a former base of the Supermutant. Unfortunately, Looman discovers the position of Complex 14. The meeting is disrupted by the troops of Terhera and the eight synthos flee.
