500 - Sie kamen aus dem Nichts
They Came From The Void
K.H. Scheer

During the flight of the MARCO POLO from Gruelfin back to the Milky Way, Captain Terso Hospotschan damages the modification detector of the dimetrans (transdimensional) drive. This device prevents any time dilation effect from occuring while the dimetrans engines are operating and the MARCO POLO is traveling through the dakkar zone (space). Captain Hospotschan is a hyperphysician and, as an explanation for his actions that are responsible for this breakdown on 2 July 3438, presents himself as a new type of mentally superior human known as the species Homo Superior. He sees in Perry Rhodan a dictator. Through his act of sabotage, he had intended to delay the return of Rhodan to Earth so that his fellow two millions members of the species, Homo Superior, had time to disassemble all military and technical facilities and to bring back all Homo Sapiens to an agrarian and pacifist life style. The ally of Hospotschan, the dimetrans engineer Ricod Esmural, also a member of the new species, Homo Superior, destroys the five dakkarcoms on board the MARCO POLO thereby making impossible all contact with Gruelfin. The Dimetrans engine itself is saved in time but the dilation effects results in the MARCO POLO reaching the Milky Way three years later then intended - at the beginning of June 3441.

Eight thousand light-years from the edge of the Milky Way the crew of the MARCO POLO sees a small mobile galaxy, a stellar swarm of thirty eight thousand objects, which appears suddenly after an old-style transition. It surrounds itself with an energy shield and heads toward the center of the galaxy at half of the speed of light. One vessel, in the shape of a stripe provided with pikes, approaches the MARCO POLO and lowers the gravitational constant of 852 megakalups. This modification results in an immediate lack of concentration on the part of the crew who quickly begin acting confused and behaving like children - in effect they go crazy. Certain individuals are immunized against this effect: primarily those who have been mentally stabilized (both artificially and naturally), the mutants and the carriers of cell activators. They destroy the alien strip vessel and put an end to the manipulation of the gravitational constant. Later the MARCO POLO penetrates again into a zone of craziness - this time the zone appears to encompass the entire Milky Way. On June 4 the MARCO POLO finally reaches the Earth.

Roi Danton, Galbraith Deighton, Homer G. Adams and other immunized individuals try to fight against the chaos from their base of operations in “Imperium Alpha”, the gigantic installation in Terrania which constitutes the nervous center of the Solar Imperium (Empire). They let Rhodan know that the present mental craziness hit the galaxy on 29 November 3440.

Rhodan succeeds by diplomacy in dissuading the representatives of the Homo Superiors on Earth from committing any further acts of sabotage since these only accentuate the difficulties on the Earth and puts in danger the billions of Terrans who are now "idiots" and have been brought back to a primitive state of agriculture.

The light cruiser CMP-41 from the MARCO POLO is equipped for an expedition toward the swarm, the small vagabond galaxy. In remembrance of the Arkonide yawl from the first days of the Third Power, the CMP-41 is given the name GOOD HOPE II. It leaves Earth on 5 July 3441.

501 - In der Betonwüste
In The Concrete Desert
William Voltz

The exhausted humanity of the Earth endures famine. Thousands of people die per hour. The epidemics spread. The infantile mortality reaches 70%. The seven hundred immune humans working under the command of Roi Danton and Galbraith Deighton in “Imperium Alpha” try to put an end to the growing disaster. On 6 July 3441 an act of sabotage involving the main meteorological control station in Terrania results in massive storms and tidal waves. Three immune from “Imperium Alpha”, including Coden Opprus and Janus Pohklyn, fight their way through the severely damaged city of Terrania in order to seize an emergency station and put an end to the weather catastrophes. To make matters worse, at the same time “Imperium Alpha” must defend itself against a gang of mentally crazed humans led by the immune Terran, Garrigue Fingal. The galacto-psychologist wants to take vengeance for his undeserved release from the Terran space fleet.

The Knight With The Flame Sword
H.G. Ewers

Three times on Olymp, Shar Troyonas and a handful of immune individuals defend the container transmitters against the technological hostile Homo Superior. The Homo Superiors also destroy the pseudo-variable masks of the Vario-500 robot, Anson Argyris, thereby forcing it to deactivate itself. Roi Danton arrives on Olymp in a container to help Troyonas to equip the Vario-500 robot with a new program written by Nathan. Once reprogrammed, the robot appears completely equipped under the name of the Grey Knight. In a dream, Anson Argyris sends a latent immune Terran, Bossa Cova, with one of his merchant spaceships (controlled initially by the ship’s positronic brain until Bossa recovers his full mental faculties) toward the Free Trader life station “Square Seven”. By the time he arrives at the station, Cova is fully immune. Bossa Cova rescues Major Patulli Lokosham who has been trapped on the station. With Patulli Lokoshan and the Saurian Olga, Cova comes back to Olymp where the immune Oxtornian, Mundus Hawk, also arrives.

On July 14, 3441, Atlan has a short meeting with the immortal of Wanderer on the GOOD HOPE II. The immortal being warns him of the serious dangers that the Swarm represents. This includes significant challenges and perils which they will face on planets that have been affected by the Swarm. The GOOD HOPE II travels to Hidden World I, the first planet of the sun Ruby Omega situated behind the swarm. It possesses a small mining colony which searches for eupholite and olio hymenopterii, two fossils of an extinct giant termite species. The visitors face the aggressive mobile plants and bugs of the planet as well as the idiots (mentally crazed) of the colony. They meet the miner Flinder Tex Gruppa who is immune from the effects of the Swarm due to a chain of eupholite which he wears around his neck. With the help of eupholite, Icho Tolot, who is still half crazy, is cured and made immune to the effects of the Swarm. On July 28 the GOOD HOPE II leaves Hidden World I after having studied the effect of the Swarm on a world which it has just passed.

The Spaceship Of The Yellow Idol
Hans Kneifel

After one failed attempt on July 13, 3441, the mentally stabile Edmond Pontonac (the former commander of the moon Titan) finally succeeds, along with hundred twenty mentally crazed crewmembers, in leaving Caudor II aboard the GIORDANO BRUNO JUNIOR. On July 13, 3441, after almost 7 months of flying the GIORDANO BRUNO JUNIOR with great difficulties, he meets and joins a group of 15 Terran vessels which are bound together and are all trying to reach the Earth. Still 12 light-years removed from the Earth, 14 of the ships are piloted by immune Terrans. One of the Swarm’s stingray-shaped vessels approaches the Terran vessels. These foreign spaceships, which are responsible for lowering the gravitational constant thereby lowering the intelligence quotient of all living beings in the Milky Way, have now been named “Manipulators”. Pontonac penetrates inside the Manipulator which has been disabled by concentrated fire from the transform canons of the Terran convoy. He discovers a vaguely humanoid statue and hears a voice which says: "It is the Yellow idol. It is Y'Xanthymr who kills and cries for the red stones." When Pontonac tries to join the Manipulator to the rest of the convoy the vessel begins to alter and break into fragments of glass. The INTERSOLAR, under the command of Reginald Bell, appears on the scene shortly afterwards. The video recordings taken by Pontonac inside the Manipulator appear without value. Each person sees something different. On July 28 the convoy reaches the Solar System thanks to aid given by Reginald Bell and his fully immune crew.

Caught In The Swarm
William Voltz

The immune crew of the INTERSOLAR witnesses several of the Manipulators (the sting-ray shaped vessels of the Swarm) as they seize the space yacht ANNIOK which had inadvertently strayed into the path of the Swarm. The Manipulators take the yacht into tow and enter the Swarm, in the process passing through the Swarm’s protective shield without difficulty. The owner of the ANNIOK, the Terran physician Powee Froud-Crofton, who had lost the ability to operate his vessel due to the stultification radiation produced by the Swarm, recovers his intellectual faculties once his vessel crosses through the shield and enters the Swarm. In a sphere of five thousand meters of diameter surrounded by artificial suns is a cubic structure. Within this structure Froud-Crofton is integrated with parts of his body into a mental collective. He has been chosen to serve as the “Selector” for the collective. This collective serves the Yellow Idol Y'Xanthomrier and the particular section of the collective which Froud-Crofton has been chosen to become a part of constitutes a radio station. Froud-Crofton learns that several races live in the swarm. Slaves of the Yellow Idol, these races are under way to the city of Aclar. Gathering his remaining strength, Froud-Crofton rebels against the collective and temporarily seizes power in order to send a message. Afterwards, he finally surrenders to the collective and is absorbed by the system thereby losing his individuality.

The INTERSOLAR receives Froud-Crofton’s coded message which states: "Protect yourselves from Y'Xanthomrier!".

506 - Die Göttin der Symbionten
The Goddess Of The Symbionts
H.G. Ewers

The GOOD HOPE II explores the surroundings of the Swarm. Aboard is Aronte, a Takerer who remained in the Solar System after the end of the Takerer-Terran conflict. He concluded a marriage contract with Alea Onadere, who has now become the victim of the Swarm (whereas Aronte is immune). On 30 July 3441, before the GOOD HOPE II reaches the Lignan System, which lies in the path of the Swarm, a robot of the Zahkses, an unknown race, is taken on board. The GOOD HOPE II lands on Caraprien, the third planet of the Lignan System. The vessel becomes lodged in a deep cleft when a fleet of Manipulators from the Swarm provokes severe earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on the three planets of the system. During a reconnaissance flight to the other planets of the Lignan System, Mentro Kosum, Toronar Kasom and Lesska Lokoshan are propelled temporarily into the past with the Gazelle DAPHNE by a mysterious eruption of energy. They discover in the space close to Ameln, the first planet, a double-cone spaceship which is fifteen-kilometer long. They are then just as mysteriously returned to the present where they discover that the Tontursters, the inhabitants of the second planet, Tonturst, live in symbiosis with the Amelnians of the first planet. In exchange for food, the Amelnians agree to serve as manual laborers on Tonturst. This cooperation is directed by the BORRO GANE, an intelligent cellular mass lodged in a crystalline double-cone. It influences the development of the Tontursters and the Amelnians. In the past it manipulated the evolution of the Amelnians, in conjunction with a station of the Zahkses on Caraprien.

The GOOD HOPE II is rescued with the help of the Tonturster Push-Push 2301. In return, Perry Rhodan saves the surviving Tontursters from their disintegrating planet and, when the INTERSOLAR arrives on the scene, Bell agrees to transport them to Hidden World I. On August 20 the GOOD HOPE II leaves Caraprien.

In mid 3441, after a long mission on the northern edge of the Milky Way, the specialist of the USO, Harm Davis, lands with his small ship, a Gazelle named BARKA, and its small four man crew on the colonial planet Eden V. Eden V is famous in the Solar Empire for its wine. It is here that he and his crew learn for the first time about the stultification (stupidity) caused by the Swarm. The crew of the BARKA helps some of the immune of the colony deal with the chaos caused by the Swarm. Harm Davis then leaves with the BARKA for Tahun, the medical planet of the USO in the Tah System. The chief of one of the clinics on Tahun, Truc Rotkel, owner of the semi-intelligent dwarf cow, Gesine, and the Takerer, Merceile, who remained on Tahun after her recovery from the Takerer attack on Titan, face supply problems and escape attempts by their addled patients. Harm Davis meets Roi Danton, who has come to the planet in order to visit Merceile whom he loves. Harm Davis and Roi Danton successfully help Truc Rotkel and Merceile with their difficulties. In fact, thru a secretion from the dwarf cow Gesine, an epidemic in the clinic which causes paralysis can be halted and, in addition, the patients lose their rebellious nature and become cooperative. Thus, the escape attempts end. Roi Danton returns to Olymp after he has tasked Harm Davis to travel to the USO headquarters, Quinto Center, and attempt to bring order to the chaos there.

When the chaos produced by the Swarm began, the cargo ship GERARDU MERCATOR escaped from Lepso on 5 December 3440 and found shelter in the Big (Great) Magellanic Cloud. Aboard are seventeen people: they include a Terran, an Akonen (Akonide), an Arkonide, a Barnitian, Siganesians, Antis, Springers and a Maahk. On 20 August 3441 the GERARDU MERCATOR meets the EX-8989 very close to the edge of the galaxy. The EX-8989 is returning from a long exploration flight. When the crew of the Explorer learns what has happened in the Milky Way, psychologist Korvey Wokon leaves on board of a Gazelle with his patient Skytho Karrora, mentally deranged from the exploration of a strange planet and culture a year before. As they enter the Swarm’s zone of influence, Wokon is addled but Karrora is healed and enters into contact with the INTERSOLAR. When the Gazelle returns to the two vessels, those of the GERARDU MERCATOR who are immune to the influence of the Swarm follows the call of Bell and comes back into the Milky Way to fight against the chaos. In order to find the unknown power hiding behind the organization of gangs attacking Terrania City, at the end of August 3441 Galbraith Deighton sends Serkano Staehmers, a collaborator of the USO, to investigate the situation. Staehmer succeeds in infiltrating one of the gangs. He kills its chief, Arlon, in a duel and becomes his successor. He enters into contact with Grohaan Opinzom, a Homo Superior who has been rejected by all the other Homo Superiors. He had controlled Arlon and many of the other gang leaders with his hypnotic faculties. He doesn't manage to control Staehmer, who is mentally stabilized (thus why he has not been affected by the Swarm).

Aghast by the actions of Opinzom, the other Homo Superiors declare their readiness to collaborate with Deighton. Opinzom can only live in a sterile, dark and silent room because of his incredible sensitivity to all sounds, smells, sights and touch. After being exposed by Staehmer and removed from his isolated environment, he commits suicide.

The following day Perry Rhodan lands with the GOOD HOPE II for a short visit in Terrania City.

At the end of September 3441 the crew of the GOOD HOPE II come across a disk of twenty kilometers of diameter surrounded by a hemispheric energy shield that has apparently been expelled by the Swarm. Alaska Saedelaere, Fellmer Lloyd and the opportunist Juniper Whiilcont land with a Gazelle on the platform. One of the races that live on the platform, the Siloten, captured and mistreated the missionary of the Yellow Y'Xanthymona idol that "laughs, cries, perspires and kills." This creature measures one and a half meters in height and is covered with crimson scales. His bony skull carries a ponytail. His capture is the reason for the expulsion of the platform from the Swarm. When Whiilcont wants to help the “Purple” to leave his cage he is killed by the missionary. The Siloten, that control their prisoners with music, capture Saedelaere and Lloyd and bring them into a fortress. Before the master of the fortress, the insectoid-like alien Quarschotz-of-the-Broken-Voice, can activate the "Absolute Movement" of the disk the two Terrans free themselves and flee with the Gazelle. Lloyd sees the Purple breaking into pieces after his death.

Shortly after the disappearance of the platform a cubic vessel leaves the Swarm for an unknown destination. The GOOD HOPE II follows it.

The GOOD HOPE II follows the cubic vessel from the Swarm, baptized an Explorer, toward Exota-Alpha, the first planet of the sun Otinarm. Its inhabitants descend from a mix of Akonen (Akonides), Arkonides, Terrans and Springers. Before the arrival of the Swarm their culture was at a developmental level similar to medieval Europe. The Explorer lands and its four external walls lower down into ramps. Some Small “Purples” leave the ship and walk toward the four cardinal points. They kill everything that opposes them. The inhabitants of the village Crater are victims of the Purples. Only the young Sandal Tolk Feymoaur asan Sandal-Crater survives. Because of a previous injury to his skull he is the only native inhabitant on the planet immune to the effects of the Swarm. To revenge the death of his parents, his grandfather and his wife Beareema he attacks the Small Purples who are building several mushroom-shaped constructions. He kills some of them with a bow and arrows. He then leaves on horseback toward the spaceport. Because of the distress calls from a Homo Superior, Thamar Ben Kassan, the only one at the Terran commercial station immune to the effects of the Swarm, the GOOD HOPE II lands on Exota-Alpha. Sandal Tolk goes on board. Because of his warlike habits he then provokes Atlan and Perry Rhodan to a duel which he subsequently loses. However, this only results in admiration from Sandal and the development of a strong friendship between him and the two immortals (particularly Atlan).

When the Explorer takes off and returns to the Swarm the GOOD HOPE II destroys the mushroom constructions on Exota-Alpha. The Homo Superior remains on the planet.

512 - Der Flug der GATOS BAY
The Flight Of The GATOS BAY
Clark Darlton

In November 3440, at the time of its flight toward the Blue System, the cargo ship GATOS BAY is taken by surprise by the stultification produced by the Swarm. After the sabotage of the linear propulsion, captain Tschak-Hoa, the only one on board of the ship immune to the effects of the Swarm, pilots the vessel on a sublight flight of several months to the Graph-Tita System. The third planet, Pampas, is populated by colonists of the Blues. At the beginning of October 3441 the GATOS BAY lands on the spaceport on Pampas. Shortly before the landing, captain Tschak-Hoa has contact with a secret station of the USO called "Blue-South Stellar Power Station”, hidden on the flank of a volcano. Five immune and sixteen addled of the USO live there. The commander of the station is the Cheborparnien, Cheborparczete Faynybret, nicknamed the Boss (Chief), who looks like the typical picture of the Devil with his goat horns, three prehensile tongues, red eyes and goat hooves. In fact the Cheborparniens had visited the Earth three thousand years in its past. After the loss of the station’s transmitters, the Boss, the Terrans Hotchka Omolores and Gaddard Pen-Tukas, and the Plophosian Aidala Monehue bring their addled (non-immune) comrades to the GATOS BAY. The Blue, Haigra Whuy, parts with the group under the pretext to help his fellow Blues. Instead, he heads for the cargo ship, which has already been unsuccessfully attacked by addled (stupid) Blues, reaches it ahead of the rest of the USO personnel and kills the captain, Tschak-Hoa, in order to seize the vessel. He is later killed by the Boss when he tries to use the GATOS BAY against his former colleagues.

After the repair of the linear drive, the cargo ship leaves on December 15 for Quinto Center, the headquarters of the USO. The cargo ship’s original crew (which is still addled) remains voluntarily on Pampas.

Tai-Hun and his hundred forty-seven immune followers, known as the “Researchers of Paradise”, want to make the headquarters of the USO a gathering point for all immune in the galaxy in order to transform it into a paradise world. Ultimately, Tai-Hun’s followers gain entry into the station and an uneasy truce is established between Tai-Hun’s group and the immune personnel of the station. Roi Danton penetrates into the station with the Barnitian Stansch. He attempts in vain to settle the conflict diplomatically. The admiral’s “Researchers of Paradise” finally violate the truce and seize the hollow moon, to includes its central positronic computer. The Siganesian, Mortom Kalcora, gains entry into Quinto Center with Cheborparczete Faynybret, reaches the control center and modifies the programming of the positronic computer. Shortly after Terser Frascati and Nos Vigeland arrive and deposit a half million addled Etrusians who have been affected by the Swarm under the pretext of a lack of provisions on their home worlds. In reality, they are trying to destabilize Olymp. An identical attempt by Runeme Shilter in the Solar System fails due to the paratron shield surrounding the Earth. Roi Danton and philosopher Holtogan Loga, the spokesman of the Homo Superiors on Earth, develop a diversionary maneuver. Bossa Cova is sent as a fake messenger of Perry Rhodan with a false message. He travels to and then returns from a short visit in the stellar city Jawnee close to the Swarm where the Bàalol priest Ydrani and the Terran merchant Ranus Fliederbaum directs, with the help of 21 immune, thirty thousand addled of different races. In the Aslan System, where Frascati and Vigeland retired with their vessels, Bossa Cova simulates a breakdown of his Waring (linear) converter. They capture Bossa Cova and, through a surgical procedure, retrieve the false message hidden in Cova’s stomach. The message makes believe that the Swarm will leave the Milky Way in thirty days and that Perry Rhodan wants to use the chaos left over from the Swarm to seize the central worlds of the Carsual Alliance and the Central Galactic Union.

Tricked by this message, The Etrusian leaders immediately return to Olymp and pick up their fellow addled citizens. They bring them back to their worlds of origin in the mistaken belief they will need them when Rhodan invades after the departure of the Swarm. Rorvic, a big albino who worked on Tahun before the arrival of the Swarm, the Martian Tatcher a Hainu, who is united with Rorvic in a reciprocal feeling of hate/friendship, musician Cucula Pampo and Sandal Tolk land with a Gazelle on Test Rorvic. It is the second planet of the sun Structure-Alpha. Gigantic abandoned spaceports appear to support a theory according to which the Swarm passes regularly through the Milky Way. They discover robots dependent for their energy “food” on dwarf-creatures who resemble turtles. Rorvic, Tatcher a Hainu and Pampo discover a radiating device which immunizes against the stultification effect. They enter into conflict with the dwarf-creatures and the robots of the planet. Meanwhile, he has developed strong ties with the robots of the planet and refuses to leave the planet. A mushroom-shaped black vessel, five thousand meter high, lands. The Arkonide and the Halutian are forced to leave Test Rorvic without Sandal. Long and thin brown creatures two meters in height with multifaceted eyes, eight arms and eight legs, leave the mushroom vessel. Sandal Tolk names them the Swarm Plumbers (Swarm Installers). They anchor the vessel by the order of the Y'Xanthomonary idol, "that cries red tears and laughs at the same time", and install some antennas in the shape of towers. Sandal Tolk attacks the strangers with the robots and kills several of them himself with arrows. When one of the Swarm Plumbers dies, he witnesses them shrink to an eighth of their original size. He finally penetrates into the mushroom vessel, informs the GOOD HOPE II by hypercom of his plans to sneak into the Swarm and departs the planet hidden away in an auxiliary vessel of hundred meters of diameter which is lodged at the top of the mushroom vessel. Thousands of the Swarm Plumbers depart in the same auxiliary vessel, reduced to an eighth of their size so they all can fit into the ship.

The mushroom vessel left behind on the planet Test Rorvic turns into a Yellow idol head with four menacing faces.

517 - Notruf des Unsterblichen
Emergency Call Of The Immortal
Clark Darlton

On 14 November 3441, Pucky and Fellmer Lloyd receive the immortal's telepathic SOS. The adjustment of the gravitational constant by the mushroom vessels on several planets threatens IT. In the system of the sun Eyry-Ganaty the GOOD HOPE II finds the immortal’s artificial disc-shaped world, twelve thousand kilometers in diameter, which they name Wanderer-Beta. It is an exact duplicate of the original Wanderer which was destroyed over a thousand years ago. The immortal, very disoriented by the stultification produced by the Swarm, allows the GOOD HOPE II thru its hemispheric shield. Perry Rhodan and his companions meet men from all periods of Terran history. They then reach a pyramid. Homunk, that has the shape of a gigantic metallic mole, allows them access to the pyramid. Geoffrey Abel Waringer repairs the linear propulsion drive of the artificial world. Once Wanderer-Beta is in the linear space the stultification effect of the Swarm disappears. The immortal tells his Terran rescuers that it was the Swarm and not the Suprahet that was the reason for his disappearance back in the year 2326. Because of a small mistake his escape took place one thousand years too early. The most recent modification of the gravitational constant has, as its specific goal, to put the immortal out of the fight. Before the GOOD HOPE II leaves Wanderer-Beta, the immortal gives Rhodan the advice not to forget about the World of the Hundred Suns, which is situated out of the zone of manipulation of the gravitational constant.

Tracs Potschyben is the immune chief of a Solar Imperium base on the Terran colony Hitcher Pearl, the third planet of the sun Ynakcho. The base is utilized to refit and repair Terran spaceships and Tracs Potschyben is the Chief Quartermaster of the base. For the past many months he has been the only immune human on the planet besides a group of Homo Superiors who he has been in a continuous struggle with for control of the addled colonists. On November 15, he discovers that the symptoms of the stultification disappear after the landing of a mushroom vessel from the Swarm. At the same time, the intellectual faculties of the Homo Superiors on the planet decrease. With the help of the colonists he attacks several times the foreign vessel abandoned by the Swarm Plumbers (Swarm Installers). The gigantic idol head uses radiation weapons and cries “red tears” that divide and provoke strong nuclear explosions all over the planet. Potschyben orders the evacuation of the colonists to another continent, the fight against the mushroom vessel having become futile. The robots of the mushroom vessel attack the Terran base and destroy it. Ultimately, large parts of the planet are devastated. Tracs Potschyben establishes radio contact with the GOOD HOPE II which has arrived in the Ynakcho System. Exhausted from the battle, Potschyben reaches the vessel of Perry Rhodan with a Gazelle.

519 - Das heimliche Imperium
The Secret Empire (Imperium)
William Voltz

On 24 November 3441 the Conference of the Immune, which has been organized by Reginald Bell, begins on the second planet of the Heykla-Beru System. Perry Rhodan wants to establish a galactic alliance of all the races of the Milky Way in order to take some measures together against the Swarm. In the amphitheater of an extinct culture, ten thousand immune assemble. Halutians (Haluters), Blues, Akonides, Neo-Arkonides, Springers and representatives of the stellar empires of the humans assemble on the desolate world Dessopato. A black discoid vessel which is fifty meters in diameter unexpectedly arrives and causes confusion and mistrust among the other conference attendees. Identical humanoids clothed entirely in black leave the alien ship. The Etrusian, Nos Vigeland, who takes part in the conference with the two other Triumvers of the Carsual Alliance, suspects the strangers to be spies from the Swarm. He attempts to shoot them but without effect. The strangers declare that they are representatives of a Secret Empire (Imperium) threatened by the Swarm. They arbitrarily took the human shape.

Shortly afterwards the Heykla-Beru System is reached by a massive structure disruption resulting from a new transition of the Swarm. Its mushroom vessels had already "marked" the space sector beforehand to which the Swarm has now jumped to. The planet is threatened by the severe space-time structure disruptions and the conference is prematurely ended. Before leaving Dessopato with his companions the spokesman of the Secret Empire counsels Perry Rhodan to search for traces of the past in order to solve the enigma of the Swarm. It becomes obvious that the strangers know the immortal. Vigeland tries in vain to destroy the black discoid vessel at the time of its departure.

Geoffrey Abel Waringer asks Rhodan to bring the thousands of addled members of his scientific team from the research planet Last Hope to the World of a Hundred Suns with the help of the immune USO agents stationed in Quinto Center. Once on the World of a Hundred Suns, his scientists will no longer be affected by the stultification of the Swarm and will be able to work on developing a weapon against the Swarm.

Lullog announces that it will appear in a few days on the planet Last Hope. On the 19th December Cova and Lokoshan land on Last Hope, the only planet of the sun Bolo. They discover that the planet’s famous Walkers (Marschiere-Viel), huge creatures which are five hundred twenty meters long and are shaped like a triangle, are undergoing a mysterious metamorphosis. They hatch from eggs and have the shape of dragons with three eyes. They then change into Walkers by absorbing a human's mind. The psi-robot Lucky Log (from the Master of the Islands Cycle) emerges and rescues Bossa Cova and Patulli Lokoshan from the trance induced by the three-eyed dragons. The robot then declares that it traveled into the past at the time of the Solar Imperium’s military actions in the Andromeda Galaxy in 2404 and that it merged while in hyperspace with the temporal eye Angekok. They parted after several thousand years together. Patulli’s statue Lullog was only the projection of Lucky Log’s hexa-dimensional energy into the normal space-time continuum while he was merged with Angekok.

At the same time that Cova and Lokoshan are experiencing their adventures on one side of the planet Last Hope, the GONOZAL, a cruiser of the USO, and ten transport ships of the Almanas Class land on Last Hope with Perry Rhodan, Atlan, an immune USO commando team from Quinto Center and the scientists of Waringer’s team. They fight the temporal researcher Avril Youngman and the researcher Ishi Tetagori who are both strong Hypnos. After the modification of the gravitational constant by the Swarm, Youngman and Tetagori developed suggestive strengths with which they mastered the few remaining immune scientists and the thousands of addled scientists of Last Hope. They now want the cellular activators of Fellmer Lloyd and Geoffrey Abel Waringer. They use their suggestive powers to hypnotize the Walkers and force them to attack Rhodan’s ships which have landed on the planet near the Terran Research station. However, they are successfully repulsed when Atlan draws off the energy from the gigantic animals by utilizing radiation absorber beams. Lucky Log, Patulli Lokoshan and Bossa Cova meet up with Perry Rhodan’s forces and help them to defeat the two scientists. Tetagori is personally defeated and killed by Rhodan. Avril Youngman then tries to destroy Rhodan’s fleet of eleven ships by traveling back several weeks in time and setting up Arkon Bombs with time-delay fuses below the future landing site of Rhodan’s ships. However, time travel is no problem for Lucky Log to understand and utilize. The psi-robot quickly realizes what Youngman is planning and is able to identify where in time Youngman has traveled. They successfully follow the scientist back in time and neutralize the Arkon bombs thereby preventing a catastrophe. Youngman is also eventually killed.

While Lokoshan leaves on 10 January 3442 with the psi-robot Lucky Log for his Kamash homeland, the transportation fleet departs for the World of a Hundred Suns with eighty thousand scientists, most of whom are still addled and will remain so until they leave the Milky Way on the way to the Posbi home world. However, when Rhodan’s fleet reaches the World of a Hundred Suns, the Central Protoplasm forbids them permission to land.

On 15 January 3442, Perry Rhodan, Atlan, Fellmer Lloyd and Irmina Kotschistowa arrive on the World of a Hundred Suns with a Gazelle. The latest mutant to be discovered by Perry Rhodan, Irmina can manipulate cellular structures in a para-mechanical way. Colonel Tahiko Anaka, who possesses hypnotic faculties, has seized power on the World of a Hundred Suns with the help of his outlaw group, the “Researchers of Paradise”. He kills the chief of the Terran colony on the World of a Hundred Suns, Admiral Cadro Tai-Hun. Then, by separating the biopon blocks, he succeeds in cutting the connection between the Central Protoplasm and the hyperimpotronic (robot brain) and to submit the two to his will.

While Irmina Kotschistowa attacks Anaka’s men with her unusual para-faculties, Rhodan, Atlan and Lloyd penetrate into Suntown, the Terran colony on the World of a Hundred Suns. They put the biopon blocks back in place with the help of some freed prisoners and this, in turn, helps the Central Protoplasm to take back control of its planet. Irmina kills Anaka at the time of his escape by destroying his brain while he is attempting to force her to commit suicide thru his suggestive powers. Against the wishes of Rhodan, the Central Protoplasm destroys the spaceship of the “Researchers of Paradise” as it attempts to leave the planet.

The Space-Jet, commanded by Gucky, is still trapped within the Swarm, which is now 11,000 light years in length, with an overall diameter of 2,000 light years. Ras Tschubai, Alaska Saedelaere and Toronar Kasom are members of the crew.

A message from Harno instructs Gucky to travel 3,000 light years to the Crystal Planet by following a signal. During the voyage, the Space-Jet is detected by the Swarm, but escapes by landing on the planet Yellow II, whose inhabitants are descended from insects, who have encountered space travelers in the past.

As the journey is resumed, the Space-Jet is destroyed but all reach the Crystal Planet, a prison for mutants. Only the best are allowed to survive, if they are victors in the Arena. Gucky helps Toronar defeat his opponent without killing him. Alaska's opponent creates total chaos by using telekinesis to remove Alaska's mask.

A message from Harno brings the crew to the center of the hollow planet, where Harno is imprisoned in the Y'Xanthomrier, a 60 meter tall and 25 meter wide telepathic amplifier, half robot and half organic, serving as its single ten meter diameter eye. As Gucky has trouble fighting off suggestive commands, Toronar begins firing his heavy impulse weapon at the goblin, which is eventually killed.

With Harno's assistance, the crew reaches the surface and steals a transistion drive spaceship. After a journey of 7,000 light years to the end of the Swarm, the crew hides on a completely consumed planet, a short time before it is ejected from the Swarm.

Sandal Tolk and Tahonka No survive and get to know each other better on the planet Vetrahoon. Tahonka No can read the writing carved on an old, partly buried rock and they become interested to the forbidden area, The Island of the Happy. The text gives a warning about the four dangerous zones.

They discover cactus plants that shoot deadly spines through the air, killing their riding animals, but Tahonka No discovers he is immune to their poison. The intelligent but speechless Thoen that accompanies them saves their lives by detecting the numerous patches of deadly quicksand. They build a balloon from the bark, sap and noxious gas produced by trees that have exploding bark and use it to cross the deadly swamp. To get across the sea, filled with predators, they ride on the back of a gigantic, reptilian, flying carnivore that uses the heat from volcanic vents to speed the development of its youngster.

The Island of the Happy is protected by a force field and surrounded by carnivores, which are fed with prey that is raised inside. Sandal Tolk and Tahonka No start a fire to distract the guards and sneak aboard the transporter that brings prey for the carnivores to eat.

The Servants Of The Yellow God

Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No have successfully reached the Island of the Happy on the planet Vetrahoon. Sandal believes this is where the God of the Swarm, Y’Xanthymr, lives. They rest in a well furnished control room before they begin their advance to the center of the island, which consists of a 1500 meter in diameter building complex. A fellow member of Tahonka-No’s race from the planet Gedynker Crocq discovers their hiding place and Tahonka-No is forced to kill him in a short fight. The man carries a yellow badge that serves as an ID card on the island. Tahonka-No takes this badge and places it on his forehead.

Meanwhile: Joaquin Manuel Cascal flies a Hunter Jet to the planet Aggres where Pucky jumps down to the surface of the planet. He materializes in the proximity of an accumulation of honeycomb cells from the alveolar (honeycomb) ships. He examines one of the honeycombs and finds only a yellow tissue mass. He then discovers a mucous track from which comes the hypnotic order: “remain far away - adore me!”

On the way to the center of the island, Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No first must penetrate a park. Again, they are discovered and are attacked, and again, they can kill their aggressor. As a result, Sandal Tolk also gets a yellow badge. They then advance into a gigantic machine hall and go up onto its roof. From there, they clearly recognize five rings that surround the central building.

The most outer ring is a metallic death zone. Whatever enters this ring evaporates like on a hotplate. The only exception are some cleaning robots. Sandal and Tahonka-No are able to easily steer the cleaning robots while riding on them by throwing pieces of fruit on the metal surface. By this manner, they are able to reach the other side of the metallic death zone. The second obstacle is a ten meter high wall; this can be overcome with the help of some high trees. Admittedly, an alarm is triggered on that occasion and they are attacked by some wolf-like animals, however, they are eventually able to escape their pursuers.

Next they enter a dome-shaped building that seems to be a type of exhibition hall filled with a confusing array of different object. The dome is also filled with strange music that becomes louder and louder and gives off weak hypnotic commands that say: “remain far away - adore me!”. The hypnotic commands originate from the eye of a 200 meter tall idol statue. While looking at this statue they do not notice two armed members of Tahonka-No’s race who appear behind them. However, they hold Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No for servants and disappear in the central dome by way of an Antigrav-field.

Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No reach into the central dome by the same antigrav-field and find a small control room in the basement of the building which contains hundreds of observation screens. On one of the screens, they see a big yellow nature with a pear-shaped body two meters in length. The yellow creature is suspended in an antigrav-field and appears to be sick. The antigrav-field and the music seem to serve as its treatment. There are also doctors who belong to the same race of creatures. However they are dressed and move by means of movable ribs at the flat underside of their bodies. They leave a mucous track on that occasion. Sandal Tolk suspects that these aliens know more about the God Y’Xanthymr.

As they force their way further into the central dome on the next day, they disturb a plant-similar creature who produces the healing music. This unfortunate incident is noticed and an alarm is triggered. Several Swarm Plumbers (Installers) appear and chase them. Sandal Tolk kills 22 Swarm Plumbers (Installers) with his arrows, however, then a new alarm is triggered. At this point they observe how the yellow pear-shaped beings are shipped in 20 meter big honeycomb tubes. Tahonka-No remembers that he heard about these natures already once before and suspects that they will be taken away from the planet Vetrahoon. Sandal Tolk finally realizes that he won’t find any goal for his revenge on this planet. Therefore, they go into a honeycomb tube with one of the pear-shaped creatures.

The tube flies with many others to a space harbor and lands there. While they wait for the tube to be loaded onto a spaceship, Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No take a look around. They observe a group of Swarm Plumbers with one single alien from the planet Gedynker Crocq who has been sentenced to death because he was too curious. They try to save the man, however, the Swarm Plumbers and several wolf-similar animals, who should enforce the death sentence, kill the man before he can be saved by Sandal and Tahonka-No. With time running out, Sandal and Tahonka-No return to their hiding place in the honeycomb tube.

Shortly afterwards, their tube is loaded into a mushroom spaceship. The ship starts and, after two transitions, it lands on another planet within the Swarm. Their tube, along with many others, is then installed on a honeycomb (alveolar) spaceship. Finally, this ship, along with several accompanying ships, takes off and leaves the Swarm on 19 March 3442.

529 - Die letzten Tage der Amazonen
The Last Days Of The Amazons
Ernst Vlcek

On 29 November 3440 the planet Diane, the third planet of the sun Emanzopa, is hit by the mental stultification effects of the Swarm. The male known as 12777-0181-NZ is the only one on the entire planet who is immune to the effects. Following genetic modifications due to a reproduction program, the males of the planet constitute a minority deprived of rights in the matriarchal society. They serve only one purpose - reproduction. The Diane are the descendants of five thousand women who landed on the planet Diane in 2434 in the company of two hundred fifty men in order to undertake a sociological experiment. Their technological level subsequently fell over the centuries and now is equivalent to that of the Earth in the Twentieth Century. At the time of the arrival of the Swarm and its accompanying stultification effect, 12777-0181-NZ lives with four women in a bunker. Following the landing of a mushroom vessel on the planet Diane on 4 January 3442 the stultification effect lessens in its intensity. 12777-0181-NZ and his companions once again find themselves involved in a full civil war between three different female power groups: the Virilists, the Egotists and the Néogolists.

Tahonka-No and Sandal Tolk are on board of one of the honeycomb vessels which lands on the planet Diane on the 19th of March. Perry Rhodan orders the GOOD HOPE II and the INTERSOLAR to intervene on Diane when he receives Sandal Tolk’s emergency radio call. Three Space Jets (Gazelles) reach the surface of the planet Diane. Rhodan, Tolk and Tahonka-No witness one of the creatures shaped like a pear and named Yellow Conquerors dividing into seven other individuals in one of the hexagonal shaped tubes that make up a honeycomb ship. It becomes clear that the gravity of 2.2156 Gs and the temperature of 62.7134°C produced by the mushroom vessel correspond to the necessary conditions for the reproduction of the Yellow Conquerors. According to Tahonka-No they occupy two to three thousand planets in the Swarm.

The male 12777-0181-NZ barely reaches the sacred shrine of the inhabitants of Diane alive due to the increased gravity and temperature. He discovers that the shrine is, in reality, the spaceship which brought the original colonists to the planet. It is still functional and run by the positronic brain which has transformed the vessel into a biologic laboratory whose sole purpose is to ensure the continuation of the human race on Diane with the few remaining viable males. 12777-0181-NZ leaves the ship again in order to look for Gaby, the only one of his four female companions whom he loved. Rhodan and his companions stumble across 12777-0181-NZ just before they get ready to leave the planet. He dies after he learns that his companion, Gaby, who wanted to have a child by him, has already died. The INTERSOLAR and the GOOD HOPE II, with Sandal Tolk and Tahonka-No on board, leave the system of the condemned planet.

The GOOD HOPE II and the INTERSOLAR attack the force shield surrounding the Swarm in vain. Hoping that the Swarm absorbs the solar system named Opus-Nurmo and providing the possibility for the introduction of a fifth column, a commando team led by Atlan lands on the second planet of the system Opus-Nurmo on 24 March 3442. Shortly after thirty-two vessels of the Swarm Plumbers (Installers) land at the north pole of the planet. The natives of the planet are the insectoid Kartas, who possess three legs and have a very developed philosophical culture. However, they live in primitive caves. They attack the invaders with moderate parapsychic powers. Pucky and the physicist Krovzac make contact with the Karta named Rauhvertikal and, through him, convince the insectoïd race to quit their attacks against the inhabitants of the Swarm who have landed on their planet. On March 31 the vessels of the Swarm absorb the energy of the sun in order to displace the system of Opus-Nurmo over a distance of five hundred thirty-two light-years. As a result, the system is moved out of the path of the Swarm and is not absorbed. The fifth column of Atlan returns to the GOOD HOPE II.

Their attempt fails due to the parapsychic powers that Rorvic seems to have developed through meditation. On November 29 the Gazelle reaches the Yuyda System whose third planet is given the name Redmare. The Redmarians, humanoid beings with a head like that of a frog, are at the beginning of their space age. From a base close to the north pole of Redmare, Rorvic and his companions learn that the two political powers (or nations) of the planet are controlled by seven Cynos. Rorvic and Tatcher a Hainu eventually discover and penetrate the hidden Cynos base. Two of the Cynos, capable of taking on any shape as Para-modulators, oppose them. The two Cynos are overpowered by the Terran team but they commit suicide following a telepathic order. With his unique mutant abilities, Ribald Corello serves as a living fictiv transmitter and teleports a hexagonium (sextagonium) bomb before the shield of the Swarm. The explosion and the subsequent release of six dimensional energy, successfully rips open the shield. The Gazelle GEVARI, manned by a small commando team led by Alaska Saedelaere, is too close to the rip in the shield and is projected by a discharge of energy into another continuum. However, it is ultimately emitted by this same energy disruption through the shield and, thus, into the Swarm. As a result, the Terrans have successfully inserted a “fifth convoy” into the Swarm at a location of its own choosing. The GEVARI lands on the fourth planet of the red sun Praspa, of which the third planet, Cocoon, is surrounded by a greenish energy network. The fourth planet, Praspa IV, is covered almost entirely with water. In an underwater city on Praspa IV, Alaska Saedelaere and Pucky meet the degenerated descendants of the city’s builders. They inform Alaska’s team that their ancestors retired to the bottom of the ocean due to the “Beaming Gigantic Demons” of the planet Cocoon. On April 26, 3442, the GEVARI departs from Praspa IV in order to study the planet Cocoon that the inhabitants of the fourth planet call the “World of the Degenerate”. On 28 April 3442, Alaska Saedelaere, Balton Wyt, Pucky and the Blazon brothers land with two space lentils on the planet Cocoon, which is covered with ocher protoplasm mountains. It is generated when the Yellow Conquerors prematurely divide following a mistake in the normal process and before they can leave the planet. The cellular explosion occurs - an infectious illness that forces the protoplasm to constantly divide. Pucky establishes telepathic contact with the protoplasm which is basically one huge collective being. The landing party also discovers that a nine hundred meter high fortress moves on rails covering a large portion of Cocoon and limits the growth of the Yellow Conquerors by shootings energy rays which destroy part of the plasma mountains (overgrowth). Saedelaere and his companions leave the planet and come back to the GEVARI which then returns to the planet and is hidden by the protoplasm in an artificial cave. Pucky and Ribald Corello learn that the Yellow Conquerors are pushed by a migratory instinct to cross the universe. They reproduce on worlds outside of the Swarm. The protoplasm appears skeptical when the Terrans speak to it about the atrocious actions of the Purples and Swarm Plumbers. The protoplasm still remembers an old law which is supposed to protect against division incidents. They also learn that because of the infectious cellular explosion the inhabitants of Cocoon were isolated in the Praspa System inside the Swarm.

To put an end to the threat coming from the citadel of the Black Demon, Pucky teleports himself with Saedelaere, Wyt, Corello and Merkosch into the gigantic fortress. For the first time in thousands of years the tranquillity of Magallion, the Black Demon, is disturbed. Magallion has a formless body of twenty meter in height covered with a black gleaming skin, two stumps and two short legs which separate into innumerable members looking like roots. In effect, he is a modified Yellow Conqueror. The creature gives birth to nineteen offspring per hour that dissolve themselves immediately into a cloud of energy. When Magallion attacks Balton Wyt, Ribald Corello destroys the hypno-crystal embedded in his head. As a result, the Black Demon, who has filled his mission mechanically and without critical sense for thousands of years, is killed. Following the will of the protoplasm the fortress continues to carry out its mission, at least for appearances sake, in order to avoid attracting the attention of the masters of the Swarm.

On May 7, 3442, a hypno-broadcast of the Swarm reaches Cocoon and promises the happiness of the division. It in turn attracts the attention of Alaska Saedelaere and his companions to the nine thousand five hundred normal Yellow Conquerors who, up to this point in time, have been living undetected on the planet. They live below the protoplasm and are immune to the cellular explosion although they are still contaminated by the illness. This immunity protects them from the aftermath of a retarded division and even makes some of them into telepaths. To stop the dangerous reproduction of the Yellow Conquerors the members of the fifth column decide to bring the immune Yellow Conquerors on Cocoon in contact with healthy Yellow Conquerors. The chief of the eight hundred immune Yellow Conquerors is brought on board of the GEVARI. He informs them that the Swarm, which has crossed the Milky Way once before millions of years in the past, had the mission to increase intelligence. Unfortunately, it is no longer directed by its real masters but by degenerate gods.

The immune Yellow Conquerors are taken on board the GEVARI which then leaves Cocoon for the planet where the Yellow Conquerors are gathering to be picked up. During the trip, it is determined that the immune Yellow Conquerors no longer are prevented by their illness from dividing. However, it is assumed they are still carriers of the illness. To allow the GEVARI to land on the planet, Pucky teleports on board of one of the guard vessels protecting the foreign world. He becomes friends with an android named Spider (named this because of his shape which resembles a spider). He confirms the declaration of the Yellow Conquerors. Thanks to Pucky’s actions on the guard vessel, the GEVARI successfully evades the ring of sentry ships and lands on the planet where it drops off its cargo of immune Yellow Conquerors. When the Gazelle leaves the planet after dropping off the immune Yellow Conqueror, the Blazon brothers remain behind in order to leave the Swarm in one of the honeycomb tubes of the Yellow Conquerors. They hope to inform Perry Rhodan on all the events since the Terran fifth column entered the Swarm. On May 12, the GEVARI returns to Cocoon after observing the departure of the honeycomb vessels with three billion Yellow Conquerors who are ready to divide.

538 - Die Panikmacher
The Alarmists (Panic Makers)
H.G. Francis

On board the MARCO POLO, the Virologist Jacobi succeeds in isolating the regulating virus which triggers the cellular explosion of the Yellow Conquerors. In its isolated form, the virus is dangerous for humans but after much work Jacobi succeeds in making it non-lethal for all major races of the Milky Way. The MARCO POLO lands on Cocoon and makes contact with the fifth column and the immune Yellow Conquerors.

On 12 June 3442, Perry Rhodan with the GOOD HOPE II and two other cruisers attacks the solar systems Infection I, II and III which are situated at the head of the Swarm. The attacks are meant to increase the unrest among the inhabitants (and rulers) of the Swarm which has already developed due to the prior failure of the Swarm on Trantus-Tona. He utilizes the regulation virus against the Yellow Conquerors who are ready to divide in these three systems. The GOOD HOPE II, led by Atlan, fulfills its mission without problems. However, hypno-crystals arranged on the surface of a Swarm vessel forces the CMP-49 commanded by Toronar Kasom to land. Kasom and Sandal Tolk must defend themselves against numerous Black Demons before the CMP-49 can finally escape from the planet’s surface. The CMP-13 commanded by Kainoro Matatsi is attacked by Manips with stultification radiations and is destroyed.

539 - Das Experimente der Cynos
The Experiment Of The Cynos
H.G. Ewers

An agent of the Solar Defense reports that the inhabitants of the planet Heytschapan in the Eppyla-Pharo System have recovered their original intelligence. The commando team “Discover Cyno”, is activated on 15 June 3442. Dalaimoc Rorvic, Tatcher a Hainu, Riev Kalowont, Peitrow Batriaschwili and Bescrilo Nonderver leave with a Gazelle for the third planet of the Eppyla-Pharo sun. The Commando-DCY discovers an underground station for the activation of intelligence and an emitter simulating the radiance of the howalgonium on the surface of the planet. Four Cynos are discovered among the natives. Dalaimoc Rorvic and Tatcher a Hainu attempt to subdue and capture them. It becomes clear to the Martian Tatcher a Hainu that the Cynos are attempting to provoke the Swarm to absorb the Eppyla-Pharo System by the simulation of howalgonium. By suppressing the stultification of the two hundred twenty thousand Free Traders of Heytschapan, the Cynos hope to introduce a large group who can effectively face and fight the Idols (thus, the rulers) of the Swarm. The psi-powers of Rorvic help him as well as Tatcher a Hainu to flee. On June 19, the Cynos destroy their station and abandon the planet to Commando-DCY.

540 - Die Attacke der Cynos
The Attack Of The Cynos
William Voltz

On 22 June 3442, the “Commando of Intelligence Research” led by Prino Balbote brings a group of scientists led by professor Goron Terhint from the planet Heyschrik to the World of a Hundred Suns. Four Cynos that took the shape of scientists in Terhint’s group also arrive on the planet of the Posbis. Julian Tifflor arrives on the World of a Hundred Suns and warns the scientific colony that the Cynos are attempting to clandestinely direct the fate of all the races of the Milky Way. Despite this warning, the four Cynos still succeed in hypnotizing a part of Geoffrey Abel Waringer’s Team. Even Waringer (who is mentally stabilized) is not completely immune to the hypnotizing capabilities of the four Cynos when they act as one unit. He is rescued and brought by a Matin Willy close to the Central Protoplasm and, as a result, is freed from the influence of the Cynos. Before this occures, Warrenger saw in a vision where the strangers bring the World of a Hundred Suns into the center of the Milky Way. Having developed a means of identifying the four intruders, Tifflor evacuates Suntown and brings all scientists into a dome of the Central Protoplasm. The Cynos mentally attack the Central Protoplasm itself with their supra-sensory strengths but they fail and disappear without leaving a trace. At their place four black stones projecting no shade are discovered.

541 - Im Banne des Panikfeldes
In The Ban Of The Panic Field
Clark Darlton

With Pucky’s help, Harno comes back into his spherical body on the MARCO POLO on 20 June 3442. He informs the Terrans about an important system situated near the head of the Swarm. Under the command of Atlan, the Gazelle GEVARI leaves for this system which is given the name Internal-Alpha. The gigantic planet Pladang-1 (Dangerous Planet 1) is surrounded by a cloud of asteroids and projects a hypno-field that provokes panic. Pucky and Tolot, who are immune to the hypno-field, operate the GEVARI out of the dangerous field. They then witness a pyramidal vessel of the Swarm which is disabled by the hypno-field and then transported by a spherical transmitter, the “Eye of the Delivery”, onto the asteroid Porter, which is the size of Mars. Ras Tschubaï and Pucky bring a portable transmitter onto the asteroid. The mouse-beaver eventually falls into a trap and is imprisoned in a base under the surface of the asteroid. He frees himself before a rescue team composed of Atlan, Ras Tschubaï and Takvorian can discover him. They return to the GEVARI, where meanwhile the rest of the crew has been paralyzed by Tolot after they had once again fallen victim to the hypno-field. Pucky destroys Porter's station with bombs. As a result, the hypno-field is eliminated.
