"A new future for the Earth - The Solar Residence is born."

On his return to Earth at the end of the thirteenth century NGZ, Perry Rhodan finds a confused political situation. The Earth is losing ground to the Crystal Empire every day, as they continue their aggressive expansion. Since most of the leaders were killed during the attack by the Cosmic Factory Wave, Rhodan decides to run for president. To that goal, he makes an agreement with Maurenzi Curtiz, the Arkonide ambassador. Camelot has to be dissolved, since it represents a symbol of secession that is no longer relevant. Rhodan asks Homer G. Adams and Monkey, the Oxtornian, who turns out to have a cell activator, to carry out this task. The two men reluctantly accept and take off for Ceres.

Tautmo Aagenfelt visits Rhodan and gives him bad news : on Troubadour, all the Syntronic computers have gone offline. The scientist has come to the conclusion that they have been infected by Korra Vir, the 5D-based computer virus that came from DaGlausch. Korra Vir had been brought to Camelot to be studied but it obviously escaped the laboratories.

A meeting is called, during which Bully explains his latest ideas. In front of the latest advances by the Crystal Empire, the Terrans need a new symbol. It will be the Solar Residence, a new city that will be constructed above Terrania. The hovering city will be a thousand meters high and will be able to retreat into the nearby sea in case of an emergency.

Homer G. Adams and Monkey arrive on Camelot and announce the bad news to its citizens. Contrary to Rhodan's plans, the two men intend to merely move Camelot to a new place. They opt for the former location of Quinto-Center, a hollow asteroid big enough to hold both personnel and equipment. A poll is conducted and out of the 500,000 people living on Camelot, 60,000 decide to stay there, 180,000 will return on the Earth and the rest will move to Quinto-Center.

On Terra, more and more mutants are born every day. They are teleporters, persuaders, telepaths, etc... but they suffer from the same problem : the are all color blind. For this reason, they are called Monochrome Mutants. Studies reveal that all Monochrome Mutants have at least one ancestor from Horrikos, a planet that was used for gene manipulations during the reign of Monos.

In front of the threat posed by the growing ranks of mutants too young to control their power, Rhodan appoints a young woman called Moharion Mawrey. She is not a mutant herself, but a hunchback, and therefore acutely aware of how it feels to be different. She accepts and as she leaves his office, Rhodan painfully remembers that Mondra Diamond, his own wife, was born on Horrikos, and that Delorian, their son, might very well be a mutant himself.

A temporary solution seems to appear with the Psi-Nets, the weapon that was used during the Algion conflict. They should make it possible to neutralize, at least temporarily, the capacities of the young mutants.

A young mutant called Trim Marath reports to Mohario that he has been in brief contact with a very powerful entity called Morkhero Soul-Source. He cannot tell much more about it except that Morkhero seems to be very hostile.

Bully is preoccupied by the latest outbreak of Korra Vir. He predicts that most of the syntronic computers will be affected in a near future and that the Solar Empire should start considering falling back to positronics until the crisis is settled. However, positronic chips are hard to find and there are only two main places where they are produced: Olymp and in the Hayok system.

Bostich, the Arkonide leader, turns out to be at the origin of the Korra Vir outbreak. He has been using the virus to increase his influence and conquer whole solar systems. He sends 200,000 ships to the Hayok system, therefore depriving the Terran Empire of its main source for positronic chips. Rhodan negotiates with Bostich. Pretending that self-destruct devices have been installed in the factories, Rhodan states that all current residents are allowed to leave unharmed. But the Arkonides are now in control of Hayok.

Rhodan is then contacted by Homer G. Adams who tells him that he saw the potential for this crisis years ago and has been stockpiling p-chips for the past few years. He now owns 4.8 billion units but he doesn't intend to give them to the LFT, but to sell them. Stunned, Rhodan asks how much he wants. Adams says that Camelot, now renamed New USO, needs fifty cruisers of the Odin class. Rhodan agrees. Meanwhile, Nathan and Prince Roger, the computer on Olymp, have been switched back to positronics and are therefore impervious to Korra Vir attacks.

Trim Marath has another contact with Morkhero that terrifies him: the evil entity is now on the Earth and is after Rhodan. Mawrey tries to warn him but cannot find him. Rhodan is busy talking with Tautmo Aagenfelt when suddenly, the physicist tries to kill him. Rhodan barely escapes a deadly shot of disintegrator. Aagenfelt is killed during the fight.

Later, Rhodan receives the visit of Lotho Keraete, It's messenger, who has stayed on Earth since they returned from the Pulse. Keraete tells Rhodan that IT has decided to reveal ITs past.

Millions of years in the past, IT was not a super-intelligence yet. He chose Ahn-Visperon, a Vojaridian in the galaxy Laxaron, as his messenger. IT was actually a split personality: the lesser known half part was known as Estartu, but she hardly ever manifested herself. Later, the Vojaridians were attacked by a mysterious entity and the only solution was for IT to switch to the next level of consciousness: becoming a super-intelligence. The process took thousands of years and the whole race of the Vojaridians had to give away their physical existence for this to happen. They became spiritual beings called Nocturnians.

Ambur, the home-planet of the Vojaridians, was split in half. One half became ITs new residence and the other half was turned into energy. Rhodan realizes that it was actually ITs switch to a super-intelligence that created Anti-IT, who almost destroyed the human race decades ago.

Wanderer starts evolving with the help of the Vojaridians and Ambur, the main city, is renamed Karbush. Millions of years later, IT receives the visit of a strange entity calling itself a Heliot. IT learns about a rare phenomenon that happened twenty million light years away: two galaxies collided in the past and formed a region of space completely devoid of matter. Such a place is unreachable for the higher powers and the Heliot would like an independent council, called Thoregon, to be created there. While IT is very interested by the project, Estartu seems to be extremely frightened. IT decides to postpone his answer. The Heliot says He understands but he will be back one day, and he will expect a clear answer then.

In the time that followed, it became clear that Estartu would never agree to join Thoregon, so IT decided that it would be better if both entities split. Estartu left for an unknown destination and IT remained in ITs Sphere of Influence, unaware that Estartu had left a counterpart in ITs conscience: Anti-IT.

ITs first challenge as a super-intelligence was to fight Strowwan, a negative super-intelligence. IT managed to defeat Strowwan with a trick, later to be known as the Strowwanian Paradox, forcing its enemy to destroy itself. Strowwan was turned into a Matter Sink and eventually disappeared from the standard universe. Strowwan's fate triggered the birth of Nisaaru, who settled its Sphere of Influence in the galaxy Chearth.

IT sends Ahn-Visperon to meet with Sirku, a split personality of Nisaaru. Sirku says that Nisaaru received the visit of a Heliot and that it accepted to take part in the council of Thoregon. Two other participants are known at this point: Metamorph, from Gorhoon, and Baikolt, from Plantagoo. IT asks Estartu again but his sister maintains her refusal to join the Council.

Rhodan is brought back to the harsh reality of the present when he is informed that Bostisch has sent 38,000 spaceships in the Topsid system, nine hundred light years from the Earth. Bully happened to be there when the system was attacked and all contacts with his team was lost.

2001 - Odysee eines Mutanten
Odyssey of a Mutant
Ernst Vlcek

Trim Marath joins the Lloyd Mutant School and meets other Monochrome Mutants. He befriends Startac Schroder, the teleporter who rescued Perry Rhodan in his fight against Ramihyn.

In the Solar Residence, Rhodan learns about an increasing number of incidents, the most dramatic being an attempt to sabotage Nathan, the moon computer. Each time, the perpetrator commits suicide or dies of a heart attack shortly after their act. Rhodan refuses to believe that one of the Monochrome Mutants might be at the origin of these incidents.

Rhodan asks Moharion Mawrey to bring Trim Marath before him. The little boy repeats what he knows of Morkhero : he is a mean entity that was born recently. Morkhero reigns over a realm called Dommrath, but Trim doesn't know where it is located. All he knows is that it is a dark and unreal place. Morkhero is becoming stronger every minute and he is still trying to assess his power. Trim suddenly spots Morkhero in the Solar Residence. He has taken possession of a body and is going to try to sabotage the Residence.

Rhodan and the security converge towards the man and corner him. Before they can do anything, the worker commits suicide. Trim tells Rhodan that Morkhero has just left the Earth.

2002 - Einsatz für Bully
Rescue Mission for Bully
Arndt Ellmer

The spaceship Vasco di Gama is sent to the Orion-Delta system to rescue the Terrans. On Topsid, the Arkonids have started installing fortresses and it becomes clear that they will use this world as a beachhead for future war actions, most likely against the Earth.

A commando led by Pucky and two monochrome mutants is sent on Topsid. They find out that the Arkonids are wearing Anti-Psi Nets, thus making them immune to telepathic influences. Also, the place is littered with parapsychic traps and Pucky soon passes out. Because of their inexperience, the two monochrome mutants make many mistakes and they put the whole mission at risk several times. The Terrans eventually find the prisoners but Bully is not among them. The Topsid governor informs them that he has already been transfered to Arkonis, and it occurs to Cistolo Khan that the whole Topsid operation might have been a cover to kidnap Reginald Bull.

Most of the prisoners are free but the mission clearly shows that the monochrome mutants are not up to the task yet. Even Pucky has been severely harmed by the parapsychic traps and he must be treated on Mimas.

2003 - Blockadegeschwader
Blockade Squadron
Rainer Castor

A new defensive weapon has been in development over the past years on Olymp. It is called the Aagenfelt Barrier, after the name of the scientist who came up with the idea. It is a new kind of defensive shield carried by four spaceships, called the Blockade Squadron. When it is activated, any spaceship entering the protected region will automatically quit the linear space. Six Blockade Squadrons, that is, twenty-four spaceships, are enough to secure an entire system.

Rhodan contacts Bostich, the Arkonid Emperor. He realizes that the Arkonids are not ready to compromise and will undoubtedly make a move soon against the Earth. Then Rhodan receives a bad news from Mimas, where Michael Rhodan had been under observation for several years : his son finally got better but he immediately left without a trace. Michael left a note for his father saying that he needed to start a new life on his own.

Rhodan deploys the Squadrons in the Boscyks system, in an attempt to protect Olymp. The system is soon attacked by eight thousand spaceships. Most of them are forced to drop from linear space and are rapidly destroyed. The others retreat. Contacted by Rhodan, the Arkonid Emperor says he didn't launch the attack but he is now aware of the new weapon developed by the Terrans.

2004 - Im Bann der NACHT
In the Ban of the Night
Horst Hoffmann

The Sol emerges in a dark region of space. Everybody on board is unconscious. Vincent Garron receives the vision of an entity that asks him to choose a side. He replies "the bad side". When he wakes up, he is no longer colorblind and his former personality has resurfaced. He starts killing the crew of the Sol one by one with his parapsychic abilities, starting with Tuyula Azik, the young Blue girl with whom he shared a privileged relationship.

Crom and Yessim are two Mom'Serimians. They live on Night-Eight, a group of eight planetoids. Night-Eight is at the fringe of the galaxy Segafrendo and the Mom'Serimians are servants of Estartu, the super-intelligence. Several thousands of years in the past, a war erupted between the Galactic Crown, led by Estartu, and the Mundanians. Nobody knows what happened exactly during this war, but Estartu disappeared without a trace and hasn't been seen again since then.

The Mom'Serimians are ruled by the Eunuchs, sexless individues who carry on the legacy and the history of their people. Crom and Yessim illegally venture outside the perimeter of Night-Eight and see for themselves what the surrounding space looks like. Shortly thereafter, Crom learns that he has been nominated to become the new ruler of the Mom'Serimians.

On the Sol, Vincent Garron detects the presence of someone on board who is impervious to his powers. He quickly realizes that it is Delorian, Perry Rhodan and Mondra Diamond's son. Thanks to Delorian's protection, Mondra regains consciousness and becomes aware of Vincent Garron's murderous intent. When he enters her cubicle, they fight and Mondra manages to kill the mutant with Delorian's help.

At the same moment, the Sol enters the Night-Eight Area area. Crom doesn't know if he should treat this unknown spaceship as friend or foe, but a scan of the spaceship reveals the hostile intentions of Vincent Garron before the mutant got killed. Crom no longer hesitates and opens fire on the Sol.

2005 - Gestrandet in der NACHT
Stranded in the Night
H.G. Francis

Atlan regains consciousness and a quick scan of the surrounding area reveals that the Sol has emerged in the proximity of another Mega-Dome, similar to the one they left in DaGlausch. The Dome is surrounced by a spherical force-field and further detection reveals a group of eight planetoids 336.000 away from their present location.

The planetoids are also surrounded by a force-field that Seneca cannot analyze. The computer also informs the crew that his syntronic circuits are off-line after the transition through the Cathedral. Only the positronic part remains active.

As Mondra Diamond tells Atlan what happened with Vincent Garron, the Sol is shaken by the attack from the Mom'Serimians, who think that the Terrans are actually Mundanians. While the transform cannons cannot penetrate Night-Eight, the Terrans quickly find out that their protection field will not block conventional bombs. The Sol returns fire and the attack stops.

A truce is declared and a delegation of the Mom'Serimians led by Crom, their new leader, meets with Atlan. The misunderstanding is soon cleared and Crom manifests an extreme interest about the cocoon left on board the Sol by Lotho Keraete, which is supposed to contain instructions about the mission of the Terrans in Segafrendo. When Crom arrives in its proximity, the seal breaks and a message starts playing.

It tells the Terrans that they have twenty-eight days to find a location called Auroch Maxos-55 and rescue a Kym-Jorian. Failing to comply will result in the destruction of mankind.

2006 - Cugarittmos Gesichter
Cugarittmo's Faces
Ernst Vlcek

Cugarittmo is a Mundanian. The Mundanians are a race of warriors at war with the Galactic Crown, the name given to the followers of Estartu in Segafrendo and led by a race they call the Slattys. The Mundanians have two physical particularities : just like the god Janus, they have two opposed faces, a peaceful one and a warring one. They also possess a special organ that allows them to know if somebody is telling the truth in their presence.

Cugarittmo started as a mere soldier and worked his way up in the hierarchy. He is now in charge of a fleet of eight thousand spaceships and he has been assigned the surveillance of Hesp Graken, a turbulent region of space which is said to host the main headquarters of Estartu.

Atlan has determined that Night Eight is the counterpart of the Pulse in the Milky Way. After helping the Mom'Serimians fix the damage that their space station went through after the collision with the Sol, the Terrans head out of the Night through the so-called Chute, the only way out of the vacuum. When they emerge in Hesp Graken, they are immediately attacked by the Mundanians. The Sol is soon forced to surrender despite the effective use of the Virtual Creator.

Atlan meets Cugarittmo and the Mundanian unveils his plan : two hundred thousand of his warriors will hide on board the Sol, which will head back through the Chute. When they emerge, they will take possession of whatever lies inside. Atlan tries to explain that there is nobody inside but the peaceful Mom'Serimians, but Cugarittmo is blinded by his ambition and proceeds with his idea.

During the travel through the Chute, Daolin'Hay manages to recalibrate the Paratron shield of the Sol in order to warn the Mom'Serimians that they have hostiles on board. The message is received and as soon as the Sol appears near Night Eight, it is struck by the deadly defensive weapon of the Mom'Serimians, carefully tuned to not cause any harm to the Terrans. Cugarittmo and his two hundred thousand warriors are killed.

The Sol leaves through the Chute again, heading for Torm-Karaend, a system pointed out by Crom as being likely to give them information about their mission.

2007 - Die Schatztaucher
The Treasure Divers
Uwe Anton

The Treasure Divers are a group of twelve people who are exploring the mid-section of the Sol, supposed to contain either technological artefacts left by Cosmocrats, or possibly traps laid out by Shabazza or the Korragos. They uncover a metallic compound that suddenly turns into an organic squid-like creature which attacks them. When they manage to kill it, the creature is turned back into inert matter.

The Sol reaches the Torm-Karaend system and finds a lot of wrecked spaceships floating in space, within the main planets of the system. Two planets out of seventeen have been destroyed. The system is inhabited by Mom'Serimians, using spaceships shaped like flowers. They serve the Galactic Crown. They welcome the Terrans but ask that the Sol be landed on the main planet, because the Mundanians are actively looking for them. Asked about Auroch Maxos-55 or the Kym-Jorian, the representative of the Mom'Serimians pretends not to know anything about them, although he is apparently lying.

Atlan dispatches several groups on the planet in order to gather information about their mission. The Dookies learn that twenty years ago, two decisive battles were lost by the Galactic Crown against the Mundanians. The two planets containing the main factories to build spaceships were destroyed then. Torm-Karaend used to be the main planet for the Cosmologists, a group of scientists studying and intrepreting the reign of Estartu, but they have all disappeared since then. They used to build theaters where they would show their findings, but almost all of them have been destroyed as well.

On the Sol, Seneca finds out that Segafrendo looks like a galaxy called Hazel 14, situated at thirty-six million light-years from the Earth. However, its shape doesn't match the one recorded, and the computer quickly reaches the conclusion that the journey through the Mega-Dome actually sent the Sol eighteen million years in the past.

The Dookies manage to find the ruins of a theater underground and they salvage data cubes from what is left of it. Shortly after they get back on the Sol, several thousand Mundanian spaceships materialize in Tom-Karaend and demande the unconditional surrender of the Terran crew.

The operation is a success and seventeen mutants are promptly paralyzed and abducted, including Trim Marath. Perry Rhodan immediately locks the whole Sol system with the Aagenfelt Barrier and the search begins.

After a few days, the investigation has still yielded no results and the government is forced to reopen the Sol System. As Soi Maklur prepares to leave, a final clue leads the Terran forces to the Arkonid spaceship. Using a derived form of the Korrago virus, the ship is quickly conquered and thanks to the young mutants, Soi Maklur is captured before he gets a chance to commit suicide.

Unfortunately, one of the mutants, Nomi Seville, is killed in the operation. During her funerals, Trim Marath is psychically attacked by Morkhero Soul-Source. As it is being inspected by a V-Inspector, a robot whose mission is to make sure the new units comply to the norms, an Arkonid commando conquers it and takes the technicians hostages, killing most of them to keep only thirty.

Blo Rakane arrives on Earth and asks to speak to Trim Marath about Morkhero. The Halutian and the young boy immediately feel sympathy for each other and the discussions make Rhodan and Blo Rakane wonder if the birth of Morkhero was not due to the withdrawal of It from His sphere of influence to live inside the Pulse.

Trim Marath says that during a short time, he was able to see some blue creature through Morkhero's eyes. Rhodan asks the young man to take a look at their databases in order to find more about this creature. Marath finally recognizes the alien in Blo Rakane's database : it is a Kraverkian, from the planet Morbienne III, located 64 048 light years from Terra in the Eastern part of the Milky Way.

Helped by two technicians, the V-Inspector manages to incapacitate the Arkonid command by releasing a gas through the ventilating system. The Waylon Javier is freed and the hostages rescued.

Perry Rhodan heads for Morbienne III on board the Leif Ericksson. When they reach the Eastside sector, a fleet of two hundred spaceships of the Blues is maneuvering in the sector, delaying their arrival. In the meantime, Blo Rakane tells them that his information about the planet comes from the files of the Blue's secret services. Many years ago, the whole system was put in quarantine after an articifially created virus decimated the colony. The virus was eventually destroyed but the quarantine remained.

Kellmi is a Kraverkian living on Morbienne III. During a hunt, he discovers a village where some of his compatriots adore a god which they call Morkhero. The villagers have to give regular tributes to their god in the shape of food made out of Luut, a rare and fierce animal living in the swamps.

Kellmi challenges Morkhero's Prophet, Erwoschno. He manages to kill him and the villagers, fearing the anger of their god, decide to leave their village. As they are about to do so, Morkhero strikes and hundreds of Kraverkians are killed.

When the Leif Ericksson finally emerges in the Morbienne system, Pucky, Trim Marath and Startac Schroder are hit by a violent psychic wave and pass out. The whole system seems to be the source of extremely powerful psychic radiations. Protected by PsIso-Nets, the Terrans head for the surface of the planet.

Somehow, Morkhero seems to need, or even be addicted to, this substance, but by pressuring the Kraverkians, he is also condemning them to extinction.

On the Leif Ericksson, Trim Marath wakes up and shouts that Morkhero is on board. One of the doctors tries to kill him but the attempt is foiled by a robot. On Morbienne III, the Terrans are able to get an outline of what Morkhero looks like through sophisticated cameras : he looks like a small humanoid. Kellmi tells them about a meteorite he saw about thirty years ago, and which landed in nearby swamps.

The Terrans head there and find Morkhero's spaceship. The ship takes off and disappears before the Terrans can stop it. Disappointed, Rhodan heads back to Earth where he learns that Druu Katsirya, the new Second Messenger of Thoregon replacing Kaif Chiriatha, has just stepped out of the Mushroom Dome on Trokan. Atlan decides to send an SOS, hoping that the forces of the Galactic Crown will hear it and will come to help them. The message will carry the symbol of Estartu.

On Orllyndie, one of the main worlds of the Galactic Crown, political struggles are being fought. La Pharoke, a Tharoidonian, wants to shake the people of the Crown and encourage them to colonize new worlds, or they will soon be conquered by the Mundanians. Nevertheless, he is able to give them some information on the Kym-Jorrians : they are butterflies. Unfortunately, their race is nearly extinct, and La Pharoke has no idea where the Terrans could find them.

On the Sol, as Mondra Diamond is chatting with her doctor, Darla Marcus, Delorian starts coughing and vanishes suddenly. Panicked, the two women search for the baby but can't find him. Atlan understands that the monk is talking about Delorian.

Mondra Diamond and Darla Marcus decide to go after Delorian in the forest where Arystes is said to live. They meet Yhata-Satnaky who tells them that Arystes, also known as the Plant-Father, is actually the whole forest. They bring back Delorian safely to the Sol. After their departure, Arystes tells the monk that he saw the future in the baby's mind. The Crown will lose the war to the Mundanians and several centuries in the future, a new super-intelligence called Kuhgar will incorporate Segafrendo in his Sphere of Influence.

Sorrmo contacts the residents of the Auroch-Maxo system and asks their permission to stay around while it waits for its natural death. They accept. Several centuries later, a new gigantic entity in the shape of butterfly is headed toward Auroch-Maxo.

The cloud and the semi-material butterfly merge in a huge explosion, resulting in the creation of a new entity called Estartu. The ensuing blast projects particles everywhere throughout Segafrendo, creating new species and new ecosystems. Some of these new organisms cover whole planets and are called plant-fathers. The semi-organic creatures choose the Tharoidonians as their spokespersons.

Estartu develops its realm over Segafrendo, resulting in the creation of a race of small butterflies that essentially represent her psychic energy. They are called Kym-Jorians and thrive on planets inhabited by plant-fathers. The community baptizes itself the Galactic Crown.

Alien spaceships appear in Segafrendo and attack its defenseless inhabitants. It will take them several decades to build up a defense force and slowly conquer their galaxy back. The Galactic Crown decides to develop its defensive arsenal while searching for mercenaries willing to help them. Estartu concludes a pact with the Josminians, warriors who, when they die, do not leave dead bodies but obelisks that cast no shadows.

The Josminians are offered total control of the military forces in the galaxy in exchange for their help. Several Josminian fortresses are built throughout the galaxy, allowing them to develop the galactic defenses.

The Galactic Crown creates the Rose Spheres, powerful organic spaceships piloted by Josminians that successfully repel the second assault on Segafrendo.

Time passes and Estartu is contacted by a Heliot. The energetic creature tells her about the forthcoming creation of a region in space devoid of matter. The super-intelligence quickly understands that this neutral region of space will be impervious to any influence from the Cosmocrats. She accepts to withdraw in this void, called the Night, in order to develop it.

Dark cylindrical spaceships materialize in Segafrendo. While they outnumber the forces of the Galactic Crown, they do not attack anyone, so the council of Segafrendo decides to wait and see. After tapping into their communications, the Crown learns that the strangers call themselves Mundanians and come from two galaxies : Dubensys and Pikh-Delta. They also learn about a mysterious class of carrier spaceships supposed to carry a destructive firepower called the S-Zentrants, but they fail to locate any.

Several decades go by and Estartu comes back to Segafrendo to check on the situation. As soon as the super-intelligence appears in the galaxy, a colossal psychic explosion emanating from the whole Mundanian fleet goes off. Estartu is heavily hurt as the blast annihilates most of her psychic energy, including the plant-fathers and the Kym-Jorians. Nothing is known about the entity who launched those three waves against the Galactic Crown, except its name : K'uhgar.

The final battle is fought in the Torm-Karaend system. Using a new technology, the Mundanian spaceships are able to destroy the totality of the Rose Spheres through kamikaze attacks. The two factory planets of Torm-Karaend are also destroyed in the battle. However, the planet where the Cosmologists have withdrawn is unharmed. They keep writing the history of the Galactic Crown, in the unlikely event that Estartu would rise again.

The Terrans feed Seneca with these new information and the conclusion of the computer is alarming : even though Estartu seems to be alive and well in the present, it is likely that the current time is a critical point in the timeline, and failing to accomplish the mission they were assigned might end up in changing radically the future.

Mundanian Alarm
Horst Hoffmann

On Orllyndie, Atlan learns from La Pharoke that the place the Terrans call Auroch-Maxo, and which saw the birth of Estartu, is known as the Tauu Dark Cloud in Segafrendo. It is situated more than one hundred thousand light years from Orllyndie and it is in the middle of Mundanian territory. Suddenly, the alarms sound : several Tharoidonians have been found dead, murdered by Mundanians. The enemy commando must have penetrated on the planet through one of the transmitters.

Actually, only one Mundanian has survived the encounter, and he has seen the Sol. He is now trying to find a hypercom in order to inform his people. On his way, he meets an enigmatic creature called Mautsch. Mautsch claims that the Mundanians decimated his world and his people, the Quatronians, and he wants to know why they are so hostile. The Mundanian ignores him and goes on his way.

Atlan and Tekener eventually corner the Mundanian in the main city. Just as he is about to give his last fight, Mautsch appears to him and kills him. The Terrans find the dead body but don't understand how the death occured.

As the Sol prepares to go on his way toward the Dark Cloud, the Tharoidonian government is in chaos : one of its main representatives confesses that he was recently negociating with the Mundanians. As a result, a fleet of several thousand Mundanian spaceships materialize over Orllyndie.

Falo Gause is one of the best Terra football players. After a brilliant victory of his team, he is suddenly accused of being a mutant. Tests are conducted that reveal he possesses a variation of telekinetic skills appliable to football only. Since this discovery ends his career, he decides to create an organization that will strive to have monochrome mutants accepted as normal citizens.

In order to raise funds, Gause organizes an exhibition where he will play his last match, despite Moharion Mawrey's opposition. The event is a complete success and raises enough money for a new organization of mutants to be created : the Mutant Ring.

2021 - Monos Enkel
Monos' Grandchildren
Arndt Ellmer

In the Solar Residence, Perry Rhodan meets with Druu Katsyria, the Second Messenger of Thoregon, who just emerged from the Mushroom Dome on Trokan. She says that hostile aliens have appeared in Plantagoo and they are mercilessly destroying all life they come across in the Galornian galaxy. Similar events are happening in the other galaxies of Thoregon : Karakhoum, Shaogen-Himmelreich, Gorhoon, Chearth, all the galaxies are fighting different threats.

Rhodan tells her about the situation in the Milky Way but without mentioning Morkhero. He shares with her his interpretation of the recent chaos : the void left by the super-intelligences when they moved inside the Pulse is now being filled in by other intelligences, hostile to the members of Thoregon. Rhodan and Katsyria reach the conclusion that there is nothing they can do to help each other for now and the Galornian returns to Plantagoo.

In Terrania, two Monochrome mutants have died mysteriously, but the doctors can't come up with an explanation. Rhodan is not pleased with the Mutant Ring organization, now fifty thousand mutant strong, because it might introduce a new fracture between mutants and Terrans, something he's been trying to fight. He talks with Moharion Mawrey about his concerns but the woman seems to be encouraging this initiative for reasons Rhodan doesn't understand.

The doctor conducting the autopsies of the dead mutants makes a stunning discovery : the genes of all the mutants' ancestors have been subtly altered during the Monos era by the Cantaros on Horrikos. Startac Schroeder and Trim Marath, who have also noticed that Mawrey has been behaving strangely lately, break into her home and discover the missing piece to the puzzle : not only have the genes of all mutants been altered several generations ago, but they have also been programmed to die shortly after their majority

The genetic program initiated by Monos was meant to create a race of mutants based on the genotype of the Antis, thus giving the dictator an army able to oppose Rhodan's mutants. The experiment failed and resulted in the birth of the Monochrome Mutants, several generations later. The alleged cause for enabling the mutant genes is a violent hyperstorm that erupted thirty years ago.

Startac and Schroeder interrupt a reunion of the Mutant Ring in a stadium, and they inform the thirty-five thousand mutants of their discovery, and also the fact that Moharion Mawrey had been concealing it from them.

After the shocking revelation about their fate, the Monochrome Mutants decide to isolate themselves from the Terrans. Falo Gause asks Perry Rhodan to give them a city where they can all move and live there until their programmed death. Despite Moharion Mawrey's protests, Rhodan accepts. The place will be Mor Jueglo, a deserted city in the Andes, which will be renamed Para-City.

A charismatic mutant from Lepso called Parkinson, who refers to himself as the Para-Prince, contacts Falo Gause and asks to take the lead of the mutants. Gause refuses and Parkinson and his men accept to move to Para City and participate in the research against the genetic defect. Shortly after the mutants have moved in the snowy city, some of them are the target of a sniper who seems to be trying to kill Parkinson. The perpetrator is Henner Mushcot, a mutant that Parkinson once humiliated, and who is now seeking revenge.

The mutants decide to form a para-block : hundreds of them will get together and will try to send a mental message for help, hoping that someone who could help them with their genetic disease might hear them.

During her investigation, Moharion Mawrey catches a glimpse of Alaska Saedelaere. The illusion quickly fades away and leaves the young woman puzzled. Alaska is on a Virtual Ship on an unknown mission, and there is no way he could be on Earth. Meanwhile, the para-block is formed and suddenly, a fugacious contact is established. The connection breaks right away. Somewhere, something has responded, but the mutants have no idea what or who that might be.

Koo Parkinson continues to extend his influence on the City. He is a strong para-persuader and he manages to hypnotize Moharion Mawrey so that she now defends his interests. He tries to subjugate Falo Gause as well but the mutants intervene in time to make the attempt fail. However, Gause dies during the attack and Parkinson has finally won : Rhodan has accepted to erect a force field around Para-City. The Para-Prince is now in control of the mutant city.

Obviously, the Gilgamesch will be involved in this operation but Kineda needs to gather more information.

Meanwhile, Roi Danton and Monkey are exploring their options, and the chief of the USO surprises everyone by telling them that the Gilgamesch has been trapped by his agents, and that it will only take someone on board to ignite several bombs that will completely destroy what used to be Camelot's flagship.

Kineda finally uncovers another of the Arkonids' secrets : they are moving the fleet command into a place called Ark'Thetran. Meanwhile, Reiser discovers bombs of an unknown type onboard. A quick analysis reveals that they are interval bombs, similar to those used by the Perlians in the past. Since their blast range is much more limited than that of standard bombs, the plan behind the "Operation Quiet Giant" starts making sense to the agents : the Arkonids will use the transform cannon and the interval bombs to neutralize the defense forts of the Solar System, allowing them to conquer planets without destroying them.

The two agents get ready to detonate the USO bombs, and therefore sacrificing themselves, but they are arrested by the Arkonids. They receive an unexpected help from Merlin, Gilgamesch's computer, which has been observing the recent events and has reached the conclusion that it must be destroyed for the wellfare of Humanity. Since the regular bombs have been disarmed by the Arkonids, Asnas has no other choice than detonating an interval bomb.

The Gilgamesch, still hovering over Mirkandol, explodes, blowing away major parts of the City and killing all its crew members.

On the 26th of September, the Arkonids start deploying several fleets in various locations occupied by the Terrans. Perry Rhodan suspects that these are the first steps of the operation Quiet Giant, but he is puzzled by the seemingly incoherent strategy put forward by the Emperor Bostich. After making sure that the vital systems are effectively protected by the Aagenfelt Barrier, Rhodan boards the Melbar Kasom and heads for Ertrus, which hasn't been threatened by the Arkonids yet.

Rhodan is worried by one detail, though : the Fourth Arkonid Fleet is nowhere to be found, which leads him to think that all the other deployments are actually diversions. He quickly sees his doubts confirmed as 20,000 spaceships arrive in the Etrus system and request its immediate surrender. Comforted by the Aagenfelt Barrier, Tam Sorayto, the Ertrusian president, ignores the request.

What Rhodan ignores is that a scientist on board of one of the Blockade Squadron orbiting Ertrus has been blackmailed by the Arkonids. The traitor detonates a bomb on board, and the Barrier collapses, opening the way for the Arkonids. Disruptive radiations neutralize the transmitters as the Arkonid fleet attacks the planet.

The Terran forces are no match for the Arkonids and the Melbar Kasom is almost destroyed in the battle. Perry Rhodan and Tam Sorayto barely survive and try to escape through a transmitter. Ertrus falls, along with the Emotionaut Academy, and the whereabouts of Perry Rhodan are unknown.

On Terra, ravaged by the news of his friend's death, Bully decides to take the matter in his own hands and takes off for Ertrus, accompanied by a small fleet. When he arrives, he contacts Kraschyn, the Arkonid commandant in charge of the Arkonid offensive. Kraschyn ignores Bully's warnings and returns to his tasks, mainly focusing on making Ertrus a bona-fide Arkonid colony.

Tam Sorayto explains to Rhodan that the main supervising computer of Ertrus is now offline, which is preoccupying because the planet is still very young and subject to frequent Earthquakes.

The resistance strikes, taking the unsuspecting Arkonids by total surprise. Erbossa is freed in a matter of hours and the Arkonids flee in disarray. Mad with anger, Kraschyn decides to take revenge and drops an interval bomb on the Ertrusian capitol. The whole city is wiped out, along with several hundreds of thousands of citizens.

While Rhodan and the surviving Ertruser Emotionaut set off from the proximity of the destroyed capital, a hyperradio call from Arkon reaches Mascant Kraschyn. It is Bostich himself, and he points out how extremely dissatisfied he is over the developments on Ertrus. The destruction of the capital does not please Bostich and the Mascant harvests strict criticism for it. For Kraschyn this situation is deadly, because should he fall out of favor with Bostich, then his life is will not be worth a Chronner. Bostich decides to send a Tato, who will worry about the infrastructure and administration of Ertrus. Kraschyn is given the instruction to keep control over the 4th Imperial Fleet.

When the new Tato arrives in the Kreit system and faces Kraschyn for the first time, it is immediately clear to the Mascant that he will never come to terms with the Tato. A deep chasm of mutual dislike develops between the two men and Formann da Ricce recognizes later, that Bostich had taken this into account in his plan. The Imperator is consciously playing the two leaders against each other.

As Forman da Ricce places his residence near the destroyed center of the former capital, it shows that the Tato does not recognize that the resistance of the population is far from broken. Assaults on food depots and patrols are on the agenda of the resistance. The plan of the new Tato to use a stooge as President quickly fails for lack of candidates.

To make matters worse for him, an unknown Ertruser, who calls himself simply "The Reporter", feeds news about the resistance movement's actions into the public communications network, whose manifesto is summarized in a single sentence: Ertrus will not fall! The reporter, behind whom the old trader Eden Arukitch hides himself, is in the area of the Buckligen Riders and meets a group of Ertruser resistance fighters, who report to him of the choice of a new underground government. The transmissions of the reporter are awaited for with anticipation and help support the will for resistance of the population. Therefore, the group of fighters invites Eden Arukitch to be there during the choosing of the underground government.

Rhodan and the small group of Emotionauts move toward the city Fin Calley, which is now the largest city on Ertrusafter the destruction of Baretus. On the way they find a badly injured Ertruser amongst the rocks and identify him as Kim Tasmaene, the mayor of Fin Calley! Tasmaene was one of the most popular personalities on Ertrus and obviously fled before the occupying forces. The group is able to revive the half starved Ertruser back to life with the remainders of their food reserves.

After Tasmaene has recovered, he informs Rhodan that he had by no means fled, but had been on his way in the Mattun Gor volcanic country, in order to stand up as a candidate for the office of the new president of the underground government. He demands that Rhodan accompany him and support the Ertruser’s plan. Rhodan has the greatest doubts about it, but eventually agrees and follows Tasmaene with his group. With an age-old vehicle, a camouflaged grain transporter, they get going on their way. When the group must march on by foot, it becomes critical for Rhodan, because he must switch off his antigrav, due to the detection danger. The force of gravity of Ertrus is deadly in the long term and Rhodan goes to the borders of his body’s physical maximum stress to avoid endangering the group. When they finally reach the meeting place and Tasmaene can nominate himself, thousands of Ertrusers have already arrived, which want to make their voices heard.

Forman Ricces continues to work to find a collaborator that could be used as a new president, but remains unsuccessful. Finally the Tato seizes to an unorthodox means and uses a "virtual president", who announces his assumption of office to the entire Milky Way. On October 15,1303 NGE Kim Tasmaene is selected as the President of the resistance movement by the clear majority of the Ertruser’s present and personally sworn in by Rhodan.

2031 - Die Sprinter von Ertrus
The Runners of Ertrus
Susan Schwartz

While the new Tato of Ertrus, Forman da Ricce threatens to bring the resistant population under control with ever more drastic means, the Ertrusers on their part seize to ever more drastic means to pay to the occupiers for their crimes, an eye for an eye. The Arkonide soldiers soon refuse the instruction to arrest any natives. The Arkonides fear being hunted down and killed by the Ertrusian rebels. The high-ranking Arkonide on Ertrus soon understand, that one cannot incorporate this race so simply into the Crystal Empire, as the plan of Imperator Bostich intends.

The rebels, under the leadership of the underground president Kim Tasmaene grow ever bolder and even attack the Arkonides in their own bases. The men and women of Ertrus will not give up following their guiding principle, which was coined by "Radio Free Ertrus" and do their best to make their planet as uncomfortable for their occupiers as possible. Ertrus will not fall!

Nevertheless the problem remains, that Ertrus stands under occupation and blockade. Reginald Bul’ls LFT fleet is located at a safe distance, but embodies more moral support than military with their presence. Rhodan is on Ertrus and the Solar Resident is extremely endangered in the Arkonide’s sphere of influence.

However, in spite of all difficulties the rebels succeed in protecting themselves and Rhodan from the grip of the Arkonides. But how can Rhodan get back into a position from which he can intervene actively in the events? And how can they transmit information to the LFT to declare that Rhodan is still alive?

He swears during the swearing of the freely chosen president, to stand by Ertrus with all possible means, should he be able to leave the planet. Once again time it is the New USO, which seizes the initiative at the correct moment. In spite of the blockade of an enormous Arkon fleet, a group from the USO under the direction of Roi Danton goes on the attack and approaches Ertrus with a crafty maneuver. Some of the retinue of the USO fleet, robot steered "junk spaceships", are shot during the fighting and rain down as debris on the planet. In the protection of these ruins the USO succeeds in setting down a man to look for Rhodan.

It is no less than the Oxtorner Monkey. The chief of the New USO manages to produce contact with the rebels and reveals a plan for them, by which Rhodan and the ten Ertrusian Emotionauts can be saved from the members of the occupying forces. The USO will repeat the approach maneuver at an exactly planned moment and again sacrifice some ships in whose rain of debris will be not armed forces or agents, but special transmitters whose operation cannot be disturbed by the Arkonides. But there is one difficulty with the plan. The transmitters are so sensitive that they must be intercepted shortly before the strike from free case by an antigrav-cushion. However, the energy emissions of the antigrav-generators can be located by the Arkonides. Because Ertrus lies under a complete detection screen, they must count on, shortly after the activation of the antigravs, a destructive bombardment in which everything within several square kilometers around the landing place of the transmitter will be burned to ashes.

To avoid losing the precious equipment Rhodan suggests digging tunnels in the ground near the landing points and establishing secured spaces there. In these underground chambers a human or Ertruser should be able to survive the bombardment from space. As the response time of the Arkonides must be assumed to be only some minutes, they must be able to take the landed device and bring it together with their own bodies to safety n a tunnel within that period.

A group of Ertrusers and Monkey announce themselves as volunteers for the task and will be come to be written in the annals of Ertrusian history as the "Runners of Ertrus". The USO fleet appears punctually and throws down the special transmitters, which are taken by the harried Ertrusers to safety in the prepared tunnels. Shortly after the predicted bombardment by the Arkonide fleet takes place and transforms the landing area into a glazed surface.

In spite of the high risks the men and equipment are successfully retrieved. Using one of the delivered transmitters Rhodan can leave Ertrus and is met on the USO ship by his son Micheal, who has gone back to calling himself Roi Danton. Once again the new USO has performed astonishing work.

Meanwhile on Ertrus, Tato Forman da Ricce is caught by his destiny. When he is recalled by Imperator Bostich to report on Arkon, he succumbs to an attack on the way to his ship and is killed. The assassination by the rebels of Ertrus is meant to call him to account, punishing Forman da Ricce for his inhumane reign.

2032 - Suche in der Silberwolke
Search in the Silver Cloud
H.G. Francis

Segafrendo, deep in the past: the SOL is on its way to the dark cloud Auroch-Maxo to retrieve a being with the mysterious designation Kym Jorier by order of IT. According to the information from the superintelligence, the future of mankind depends on the success of carrying out this order. The Auroch-Maxo system has been wrapped since its birth by ESTARTU in a silvery dark cloud. The dark cloud is almost spherical and still twenty light hours wide four hundred thousand after its creation.

Unfortunately, the Auroch-Maxo dark cloud seems to be the area of concentration of the Mundänes, because the SOL locates massive naval concentrations of the warriors from the galaxy Dubensys around the target area. Because the deadline for the task put to them is trickling down, Atlan has no choice. With a risky maneuver the SOL drops from hypertime shortly before the dark cloud and is immediately attacked by the Mundänes. When the barbell ship penetrates into the dark cloud, no more detection is possible due to the special structure of the cloud and the ships of the Mundänes cannot follow the SOL.

The deeper the SOL penetrates into the dark cloud, the less the ship’s sensors can pick up. But in that case, how is the SOL supposed to locate the coordinate point that is designated Auroch-Maxo 55? Atlan and the crew do not yet even know whether the term designates a coordinate, a planet or even a space station. For some time the SOL penetrates deeper and deeper into the silver cloud without being able to look intelligently for Auroch-Maxo 55. Without functioning sensors the barbell ship moves practically blindly forward.

In parallel to these events the SOL treasure divers at their work in the center section. The Dookie Necker Ravved and his team have returned to the cinders of the destroyed center section and dig out mysterious objects to the light of day. This time Ravved discovers a collection of objects, which faintly remind him of petals and piece together like a puzzle. Laboriously he frees them piece by piece from the ash and put the mysterious object together. When the object is seemingly composed, a strange event occurs. The object disappears into nowhere.

It is possible that the object has converted itself to psionic energy, because at the same time a reaction takes place with young Delorian Rhodan, who gives the signal to his mother Mondra Diamond to stop the SOL on its trip through the dark cloud immediately. Atlan gives in to Mondra’s energetically presented wish and stops the ship.

A short time later they come upon something in the dark cloud. The SOL bumps into the wreck of an ancient ship of the Rautak! Without Delorian’s warning, this meeting would never have occurred. Judging by the extent of the devastation, the wreck must have already been floating here in the fog for hundreds or perhaps thousands of years by the fog. Only the original ship’s hull and dimensions can be told.

Atlan instructs the treasure divers to examine the wreck, and they soon retrieve a heap of burned out computers. Atlan, who had hoped for far more is slightly disappointed. Nevertheless the Arkonide has the treasure divers work on the evaluation of the retrieved devices. With the help of Icho Tolot, SENECA, Tangens da Falcon and Myles Kantor, the specialists actually manage to read and restore some memory fragments of the destroyed devices.

One memory component shows a picture of a humanoid being that is said to be a Rautak and inhabitant of the Auroch Maxo system. The crew of the SOL learns details about the extreme changes, which were caused by spore clouds in the Auroch Maxo system. First of all, the reduced solar radiation led to massive climatological problems on the worlds of the Rautak. The crew of the SOL learns that the Rautak were working on a project with all the resources available to them to make a planet close to the sun Auroch Maxo 55 habitable by terraforming. At the end of the recording the crew learns that the resettlement supposedly failed and that the Rautak built a generation ship in a final effort to evacuate their most capable people to another solar system. This plan also seems to have failed, as Atlan easily recognizes by the wreck.

Shortly after this, it comes to another frightening meeting in the spore cloud. At a relatively small distance a gigantic object passes the SOL, which shows nearly planetary dimensions. It can only be one of the legendary S-Zentrant’s, one of the gigantic command ships of the Mundänen. In front of the S-Zentranten flies a blue cylindrical ship that is obviously leading the Mundänen ship. In the blue cylindrical ship, Atlan recognizes a vessel of the same type as was used by Cairol. Did that mean the force of Order had their hands in the game with the events in Segafrendo?

When the S-Zentrant disappears again in the spore cloud, a kind of freely floating hologram abruptly appears, directly near the cocoon delivered by IT, which is still in the Main Bridge of the SOL. The hologram shows the picture of a Rautak, which lifts both hands and introduces itself as an "envoy". The events are becoming much more mysterious and the crew of the SOL has only a few hours of time left to successfully conclude their task.

2033 - Tod im Türkisozean
Death in the Turquoise Ocean
Andreas Findig

Auroch Maxo 55 is a water world full of life. Originally intended by the Rautak as a new home world, the humanoid race could never bring the enormous resettlement project to fruition, however. Nevertheless, there is life on Auroch Maxo 55. Paumyr, the first of the spores of the combined entity Sorrmo and Korridec, is an intelligent plant that floats like an island about the ocean of the water world.

The planet has a diameter of 11,654 kilometers and, therefore, is a bit smaller than the Earth. The surface gravitation amounts to 0.94 G’s, the planet possesses a breathable oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and its surface is eighty-six percent covered with water. The planet spanning oceans are rarely deeper than four hundred meters.

Paumyr populates Maxo-Auroch with a number of artificial creatures who are copies of the Rautak. The Rautak created by Paumyr spend their life on the water world and are not conscious of their true origin and descent any more. They spend the night in so-called sleep mussels that arise from the ocean’s floor, open up and serve the artificial creatures as a place to sleep. It is also, in fact, a form of symbiosis with which the sleep mussels give the Rautak sleep and the mussels nourish themselves on the dreams of the Rautak. At the same time, a so-called dream pearl forms inside the mussel, which grows a bit more after every night and dream phase.

One of the artificial beings created by Paumyr is the female Rautak Jamaske. Her dreams manifest themselves in the form of an unknown male lover. She begins to question her life and that of the other Rautaks. She eventually learns the truth about her people and their existence. On the way the Rautak even comes upon her "dream man" and finds direct contact with the plant intelligence Paumyr. Finally, using Jamaske, Paumyr takes up contact with the SOL.

While Runrick penetrates the spore cloud with the MASMOKO, the Mundäne muses upon how his life has gone so far.

Runrick is born blind. When a young man he come to the planet Rauber Baan, well known in Dubensys as a training place of the "seers" in the service of K'HUGAR. Contrary to the remaining pupils, who are already born without eyes at all, Runrick possesses still his pair of eyes. From the outset, Runrick draws the attention of the Mismatiker Cael Ogor upon himself, who mentors and supports him. The Mismatiker, likewise a race from the galaxy Dubensys, is humanoid, but looks bloated and corpulent in contrary to the Mundänes. Although the Mismatiker has also two faces, the turning head does not show a different facial expression. With the Mismatikers the two faces constantly alternate and the head constantly goes back and forth one hundred eighty degrees.

Runrick begins to be noticed among the other blind "seers", because his combat face does not regress and degenerate, as is usual with the seers. It comes to daily outbreaks of rage by Runrick, with which he loses control and turns out his combat face for the first time. To the surprise of all those present, the eyes of his combat face can see! For the first time in his life he sees his environment like a normal Mundäne. When Runrick’s everyday face returns, the formerly blind eyes can now see!

Runrick is thereupon ejected from Rauber Baan and the school of the seers. Robbed of all his prospects, Runrick joins the army, where he goes through twenty-eight years of long, hard training. The Mundänes are preparing at this time for the conquest of various galaxies, one of them being Segafrendo.

On the training Zentranten LAICMOKO Runrick learns the art of war. The Mundänes fight for the goals of the entity K'HUGAR, which has its seat and sphere of influence in the galaxy Dubensys. The residence of K'HUGAR is called the eternal dead city of K'u by the Mundänes. The warriors of the Mundänes are convinced that they will rise into K'HUGAR after death as thanks for their achievements and services. In their deepest core, they are convinced to be fighting for a good cause and are taught that one who supports K'HUGAR to fighting for Order against Chaos.

By surviving countless battles on other worlds and in other galaxies, by his capacity for strategic thinking and not least due to his special aura, Runrick rises ever higher in the ranks of the warriors. Finally it becomes Runrick’s task, his final one as a warrior, to seek out the remaining remnants of the presence of ESTARTU. Runrick determines the Auroch Maxo dark cloud as a possible location for this and begins his investigations.

Seeking out the remaining presence of ESTARTU within the dark cloud however proves to be difficult venture. Despite the escort of Scout ships, on which seers attempt to locate the remaining fragments of ESTARTU, the search is unsuccessful. Runrick’s ships find the planets Auroch Maxo 13, 19 and 20, on which there are artifacts of a people that called themselves the Rautak. As the Mundänes find out, the Rautak had given up their planets to look for better living conditions. Their goal was a planet close to a sun with the designation Auroch-Maxo-55, a planet that the Mundänes are not able to locate yet, despite an intensive search.

When Runrick is given the chance one day to go to K'HUGAR, the superintelligence permits him a view into the past. Runrick experiences the whole history of the confrontation between K'HUGAR and ESTARTU.

Runrick, meanwhile an army leader with the rank of a Mun-2 and a commander of an enormous S-Zentranten, asks K'HUGAR for support. The superintelligence promises to send assistance. After some time elapsed a cylindrical blue ship suddenly appears. The ship identifies itself as the XIRMICCA, which was sent from the galaxy Erranternohre, in order to support Runrick with his search in the dark cloud. The ship, Runrick learns, is equipped inside with Mundäne technology, however the blue hull of the ship is animate. Runrick is informed that the XIRMICCA is something like an entity and will be able to track down ESTARTU’S fragment.

Guided by the XIRMICCA, Runricks takes the S-Zentrant on its way through the dark cloud, until finally and completely unexpectedly, a blue planet emerges from the silver fog. Auroch-Maxo-55! Runrick is at the goal!

2035 - Exodus der Herzen
Exodus from the Heart
Uwe Anton

With the arrival of the blue cylinder ship, the destiny of the world Auroch Maxo 55, Paumyr and the other Inzailas are felt to be sealed and at an end, because it is too early to become an Inzaila Onda. However, they also feel that the crew of the SOL can help them. The SOL is sent an envoy in the form the Rautak Jamaske Paumyr, the oldest Inzaila, to guide them to Auroch Maxo 55.

After Jamaske materializes aboard the SOL, the Galactics are only shortly surprised, before gladly accepting the offer of help by the bioprojection, because the deadline from IT to rescue a Kym-Jorier from Auroch Maxo 55 is mercilessly running down. When the Terran research ship reaches the planet, only nine hours remain. But Paumyr announces that there are no more Kym-Joriers, as they had died a year after the battle with Cours. But there are still Kyms on Auro Maxo 55. Atlan should proceed alone, with a space jet, to Paumyr. Meanwhile the Galactics measure a strange transmitter like field in the South Pole of the water planet and nineteen Inzailas, which are heading for it. According to Jamaske the mysterious apparition is the Alshma Ventor, the passage to the INSHARAM.

As Atlan reaches the plant island Paumyr, its psionic radiation almost kills him. Two more Rautak projections escort the Arkonide to the inside of the island. When the immortal Arkonide reaches the center of the plant intelligence, he is disappointed at first, for as Paumyr already said, there is on Auroch Maxo 55 and all Segafrendo no more Kym-Joriers, but it offers Atlan eggs which it has been carrying for a thousand years, which are the eggs of Kyms. And one of these eggs actually seems to still be filled with life. Atlan takes the egg, when a shaking suddenly runs through Paumyr. Something crucial seems to have happened, the Arkonide just succeeds in activating the Paratron of his protective suit, as he is in the middle of energy chaos.

Meanwhile the cobalt blue cylinder and the S-Zentrant MASMOKO have appeared above Auroch Maxo 55, but before the Terrans around Ronald Tekener can make a decision, eighteen Inzaila, all but Paumyr, send out a gigantic psionic energy wave. Only its spurs touch the SOL, but nevertheless all the crewmembers fall into a condition similar to a coma, leaving only Icho Tolot active. The target of the psionic impulse is the S-Zentrant whose protection screens can give no resistance to it.

Some time later the activator bearers and the Emotionaut Roman Muel-Chen come around again, only to watch on the detectors how eighteen plant islands pass into the psionic fires, the "exodus of the hearts". They have sacrificed themselves to save Paumyr, the oldest Inzaila. Then follows "Hauchmén Zovirasch", the end of the world, as Jamaske declares to them. Tekener recognizes that the S-Zentrant is only disabled, while the cylinder ship is active again. The Smiler gives to order to push the cobalt blue cylinder, which was slightly thrown from orbit by the energy wave, away from the planet.

On the S-Zentranten, Runrick, the Mun-2, is close to death. He recognizes that the eighth important station in his life is bringing him death. He still recognizes that some surviving Mundänes are taken over by Paumyr and boost the gravity machinery of the gigantic ship to kill the people on it, but cannot do anything about it. He dies and goes to the eternal necropolises of K'u, becoming a beautiful diamond with only a single impurity.

The SOL, in the protection of its Carit hull, succeeds in pushing the blue cylinder deeper into the dark cloud, and finally destroying it. With their return the Galactics see how the plant island comes undone from the dying world and floats to the S-Zentranten. It is the rescue of the Inzaila, as Paumyr leaves the world on the S-Zentranten MASMOKO, which it now controls. Atlan is told to leave the plant island as quickly as possible, because the Inzaila would like to say goodbye as quickly as possible to this space sector. It knows that that with the destruction of the other Inzailas, the psionic protection of the dark cloud will also break down and the cruising Mundäne units will get better and better detection results. It is only a question of the time, before more units arrive at Auroch Maxo 55.

Later Atlan, back on the SOL, brings the Kym egg to the Main Bridge where he takes it to the cocoon from IT. A projection of IT, in the form an old white-bearded Terran, informs the crew that they have succeeded in rescuing the Kym-Jorier in time. But the next task already awaits them; the SOL must reach a place in the fastest way possible, which is named the INSHARAM. When Atlan gives SENECA the order to fly, the Biopositronic refuses.

The ship brain of the SOL is determined not to leave the system. But Atlan is determined to not go through the strange Alshma Ventor. Only when it is almost too late, the Mundänes having located the Galactics, and only this daring alternative remains as a way out, does he use it.
