1800 - Zeitraffer
Time Lapse
Robert Feldhoff

On September 15, 1222 NGE the detection ship POLYAMID registers that a cavity is being formed under the surface of Trokan, the new fourth planet in the Sol system, during an artificially steered process. Geo Sheremdoc and Boris Siankow observe, how a thirty centimeter large, drilling head like object projects from the crust of the planet and rapidly extends to a height of one thousand eighty-nine meters and a diameter of four hundred one hundred-nine meters. A five-dimensional wave front shakes the solar system, and the lapse of time begins to accelerate on Trokan. The POLYAMID, with which Sheremdoc and Siankow penetrate into the Strangeness field of the puzzling planet, explodes killing everyone onboard.

Perry Rhodan and the other immortals returning to the Milky Way on October 1 of the same year are met with a wave of reserved rejection from Terra. They are not thanked for fact that they bring along a screen field projector, which can free the Imprint victims of the Milky Way from their insanity. Only Myles Kantor, whose scientific authority is needed for the study of the time field around Trokan, is welcomed.

Kantor, whose lover Kallia Nedrun has been in a coma on Mimas since the incident with the spindle beings, takes up work together with Benito Grink. In a dream Kantor sees how a gigantic slit-eyed, reptilian being from space reaches with its claw hands for Trokan. On November 1, NATHAN is able to supply the first snapshot of the planet, which had been screened from sight by its faster than light rotation under the time-lapse field. The scientists recognize that on the planet is undergoing geological changes at high speed.

Meanwhile a commission of the League of Free Terrans, led by Gia de Moleon decides that the BASIS is no longer repair worthy. The carrier ship steeped in history is finally sold in the year 1229 NGE to a consortium, which makes it a casino over the planet Stifterman III.

For their search for the "Bridge to Infinity", the cell activator bearers acquire the one hundred and fifty meter long, lens-shaped spaceship BOOMERANG, which launches on its first expedition on December 31, 1222 NGE with Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull, Alaska Saedelaere, Gucky and the Vandemar twins.

On February 12, 1223 NGE Koka Szari Misonan’s competitor, the Plophoser Buddcio Grigor is selected as the First Terran, by the inhabitants of the seven hundred and eleven systems of the LFT with a large majority. Grigor publicizes a policy of strength and demarcation in relation to the other nations of the Milky Way and the complete transfer of the Cosmic Hanse into the property of the LFT. The Hanse HQ becomes the new seat of the Terran government.

Nationalistic movements also gain power on Arkon. Within a short time more than ten thousand worlds come under the control of the Arkonide Crystal Imperium, where Atlan’s former lover Theta of Ariga becomes the first Imperatrice. In reaction to the increasing power struggles of Terra and Arkon, the Akones, Antis and the non-humanoid races of the Milky Way create a loose, third union, which is called the Ragland Forum after the planet of their first meeting. The Galacticum, which succeeded only imperfectly in the decades after the Monos era to work against deep controversies and smoldering conflicts increasingly loses influence.

Not the least in order to keep the immortals out of his way, Grigor continues to finance the unsuccessfully running flights of the BOOMERANG. The cell activator bearers had undertaken their search first in Fornax, where the Galactic Guardians, the "thousand armed Kraken" is consolidating the basis of its future power.

In the year 1235 NGE Rhodan and his companions however secretly begin Project Camelot, the creation of an independent small power block. By the organization Taxit, a group of clever dealmakers, Homer G. Adams procures money and spaceships. While Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull, Atlan and Gucky advance the project, Ronald Tekener, Dao Lin H'ay, Julian Tifflor and the Vandemar twins ensure by numerous actions that the public reputation of the immortals is enhanced. Icho Tolot maintains contacts to the Raglund Forum. Although he works officially on the investigation of the time-lapse phenomenon, Kantor also secretly supports the Camelot project. Ronald Tekener and Dao Lin H'ay withdraw themselves however to M-33 and Hangay soon after, and Julian Tifflor and Michael Rhodan disappear without a trace in the year 1238 NGE on a secret mission in Fornax. Their space jet GRINDEX is found by the remaining immortals, abandoned but completely intact. Atlan, who is implicated in some unknown manner in the death of Theta of Arigas, creates the underground organization IPRASA, in order to brake a further expansion of the Crystal Imperium, at whose head stands the Imperator Bostich as a puppet of his backers. Tifflor’s former lover Nia Selegris dies, and Adam's friend of many years Serena leaves him, because she cannot bear aging at the side of her immortal partner any longer.

In the year 1240 NGE Perry Rhodan says good-bye to the old painter Johnny, who he had made friends with by his residence on Goshun Lake, and leaves the Earth with the remaining cell activator bearers. Gia de Moleon tries in vain to follow the trail of the immortals for many years. Of them, only Kantor remains in the Sol system and observes the racing progression of evolution on Trokan.

After a Hanse caravan states the fact on September 1, 1255 NGE that the entire population of the planet Siga disappeared without a trace takes, the LFT takes over Glador’s star as protectorate, in order to protect the abandoned planets from the access of the Crystal Imperium or the Raglund Forum.

The Tower is built at the edge of Terrania, the ninety-eight floors deep into the ground headquarters of the Terran League Service, the new secret service of the LFT, whose leadership Gia de Moleon assumes in the year 1262. At the same time new heavily armed space stations are built in the Sol system with facilities to secure the solar system with a Paratron screen, and Kantor is convinced that they are working in addition on an anti-temporal tidal field.

Camelot gradually becomes mythic in the Milky Way. On the legendary planet the immortals and their aides decide to build the GILGAMESCH, a completely new type of spaceship. Its core is the five hundred meter diameter, twenty-angled central module MERLIN, at whose twelve pentagonal exterior surfaces twelve docking elements can be coupled. Since each of them is one thousand meters long and resembles the central module in its form, the GILGAMESCH overall results in a pentagonal dodecahedron with a diameter of two thousand five hundred meters.

By an inconspicuous, mysterious way Rhodan recruits highly qualified coworkers for Project Camelot from secured offices on Terra, Olymp and other important worlds. Among these workers belong the Ertruser spaceship commander Kalle Esprot, the five-D mathematician Medina Obeck, the hyperphysicist Borran Skarros and his brother Cerron, a spaceship designer, the implant surgeon Dr. Julio Mangana and the Koko-interpreter Gernot Blume, who is needed for the contra-computer of the MERLIN.

In the year 1278 NGE, Grigors successor Medros Eavan is defeated in a new election for the office of the First Terran by Paola Daschmagan, who shows wise restraint in comparison to the showy displays of power by her two predecessors. The new First Terran appoints the mighty Cistolo Khan as LFT commissioner on September 4, 1280 NGE. His flagship is the eight hundred meter diameter PAPERMOON, the first of a set of sixty spherical battleships ordered by Sheremdoc. Khan makes the inconspicuous Empath Bruno Drenderbaum, who prevented on January 12, 1281 NGE that the LFT planet Stogg in the Stoggos system becoming the center of a conflict between free industrial planets interested in the Howalgonium of the distant world and the Ara descendants settling in its neighborhood of the Raglund Forum, his assistant.

On October 22,1286 NGE, the GILGAMESCH grabs attention for the first time, by striking a dozen Arkonide cruisers which want to take over the mining industry of the asteroid Gruvtrav, in the protection of a highly effective virtual blinder, which produces perfect detection image copies of the ship.

At the beginning of the following year, Kantor’s attempt to penetrate the time lapse field around Trokan with the experimental ship PLICKER in the protection of a mini ATF fails. NATHAN’s photographs show that a city developed around the drill head object. On October 12,1288 NGE an explosion takes place on Trokan, releasing four and five dimensional energies, after which the time lapse field swiftly dissolves. While it was up, two hundred fifty million years of relative time had elapsed. Just as quickly, the GILGAMESH appears on the edge of the Soar System.

1801 - Die Herreach
The Herreach
Robert Feldhoff

We return to the year 1222 and learn what has been happening on Trokan within the time-lapse field …

The drill head, which breaks through the surface of Trokan on September 15, 1222 NGE, keeps expanding in size by repeatedly unfolding itself. The multidimensional process, which produced the metal cone, gradually slows down. After it achieves its final size of eight hundred meters, an opening appears on its tip and an amputated and burned hand with two fingers and two thumbs is ejected onto the ground. The bacteria contained in it form the starting point of an evolution, from which after two hundred and forty-five million years the Kherrah evolve. Development around the drill head is pursued and affected by the machine, according to Kummerog’s programming.

On the escape before the large, four meter long, feared, black Gnostes the stone age pair of nomads Hlalada and Edegon run to the drill head, which has the color of bright sandstone. Since a voice requests the two Kherrah to wait, the drill head receives the designation "the speaking mountain".

When the Kherrah, who gradually take on the name Herrach, start establishing homes, they settle around the Speaking Mountain avoided by the Gnostes and form the village of Moond. Herrach are two meter tall beings with two arms and two legs, whose body form leads to a strange stalking gait. Their body surface is hairless and gives a nearly transparent impression. A thick bone plate on the upper half of the head protects the brain. A nasal organ, which can be blown up and expresses mood, dominates the face with its slanted, green eyes.

When Moond reaches one thousand inhabitants, the Speaking Mountain gives the Herrach the prophecy: "Kummerog is the God, which waits behind the gates of the temple. The gates will open, and the God Kummerog will walk through the gate." Later Ankelvieeg, the last Gnoste, kills the last Herrach king, Kirk, after a long confrontation.

The name Herrach changes to Herreach. After the one thousandth building is established in Moond, Collie, a descendant of Kirk’s, is the first Herreach to hear the complete prophecy: "Kummerog is the god, which waits behind the gates of the temple to be released by the Herreach. And when in the distant future the Herreach have advanced far enough, the door will open and the god Kummerog will come to them through the gate. Then the sky will open, and a shining bright half and a dark half will appear. "

Dedicating themselves to the study of their god Kummerog, the Herreach form a new caste, the Cleros. Their head is the highest Kuender. A Herreach named Dourmel succeeds in managing to steer large groups of Herreach praying before the temple so that their combined concentration forms the manifestation of a giant shape, which is called Schimbaa after a legendary giant. In vain the Herreach strive for many centuries to open the temple mountain with Schimbaa’s assistance.

The philosopher Szonkar discovers the fact that the Herreach live on a spherical body and develops the theory that all matter consists of tiny spherical particles. Szonkar cannot explain the pervasive cloudy streaks in the sky. His disputed concept that in the bright half, of which the prophecy speaks, countless inhabited worlds exist, become known as Szonkar doctrine.

The attempt generations later by Prudd Hon to penetrate the temple of Kummerog with the help of an enormous steam hammer fails. Meanwhile, on the Norrfa Plain, one thousand kilometers removed from Moond, a partial manifestation of Schimbaa opens the entrance to an underground labyrinth. Its visitors are confronted with the mental projection of a two and a half meters large black being and the term "A-JIN-DI".

During the investigation of the mysterious facilities there the Herreach, during the term of office of the Kuender Presto Go, release an enormous six-dimensional shock wave, which destroys the Norffa Plain and prematurely activates programming in the drill head. The temporal shield is brought down, and Trokan returns to the standard universe. After a life in constant dusk the Herreach experience the brightness of day and the darkness of night for the first time in their existence. In the temple mountain of Kummerog an opening develops, which is, however, locked with a deadly energy screen.

Then one day a gigantic spherical object descends from the sky and lands by the temple...

1802 - Stiefkinder der Sonne
Stepchildren of the Sun
Hubert Haensel

Perry Rhodan asks Cistolo Khan for permission to land on Trokan and mentions that distortions of five-dimensional space in the range of the Megaon wave had brought the new fourth planet of the Sol system to the attention of him and his companions. Although he values the immortals because of their service to mankind and his personal integrity, the LFT Commissioner rejects Rhodan’s request, particularly since the cell activator bearer refuses to give any information about the GILGAMESCH or Camelot.

Meanwhile, small spaceships from the numerous Terran broadcasting stations collect themselves around the GILGAMESCH. While the First Terrestrial Network (FTN) tries to discredit Perry Rhodan with references to the events with the spindle beings, the consequences for the Milky Way of the Hangay transfer , the rule of the Larens and misunderstandings around the OLD MAN, the Terrania News Report (TNR) presents the immortals in a particularly positive light.

On the hunt for a sensational story, TNR reporter Gloom Bechner and his coworkers Sibyll Norden and Mirco Adasta use their Space Jet PERSIA to try to fly into an air-lock of the GILGAMESCH. The three journalists have the impression that their jet penetrates the hull of the giant ship and then dissolves, but then they appear again after a period of unconsciousness with their boat outside of the mysterious penta-dodecahedron.

In their greed for sensational news some stations spread the rumor that Rhodan and Khan have allied themselves with the Ayindi, which smuggled Trokan as a Trojan horse into the Sol system and intend an invasion. This results in the LFT commissioner bolting the area around the GILGAMESCH. Myles Kantor, who Khan asks about the unfamiliar Megaon wave, pushes in vain to let a ship's boat from the GILGAMESCH land on Trokan.

The PERSIA secretly follows Khan’s PAPERMOON to Trokan and lands in the evening of October 12, 1288 NGE on the planet declared as a restricted area. Cistolo Khan and Bruno Drenderbaum take up contact with the Herreach and learn from Godar, whose shyness of the strangers is the smallest, that due to a prophecy the inhabitants of Trokan regard the drill head surrounded by a Paratron like screen as Kummerog’s temple .

Meanwhile Gloom Bechner, Sibyll Norden and Mirco Adasta investigate the Herreach city at night and find themselves witnesses to puzzling phenomena. After they have finally sent their report on the new inhabitants of the Sol system, the " Stepchildren of the Sun ", the reporters observe how a three meter form with unbelievingly long arms materializes.

1803 - Der Riese Schimbaa
The Giant Schimbaa
Hubert Haensel

While Bruno Drenderbaum looks for them, in order to prevent further unauthorized transmissions from Trokan, Gloom Bechner, Sibyll Norden and Mirco Adasta follow the trail of devastation, which the shape, which had emerged before their eyes leaves behind itself.

The reporters arrive in a cave system underneath the city Moond, in which the Free Breathers, Herreach who fight the Cleros rule, keep themselves hidden. In their prayers the Free Breathers are stronger than the priests, so that already small groups can bring about manifestations. However, they are not as well controlled in their shapes, the dwarf Palomin, multiform Brodik, many-bodied Gretra or the giant Schimbaa, for whose formation the shared trance of five thousand Heereach is normally necessary.

In order to divert Drenderbaum from his group, Bechner arranges for the Free Breather Tak Takkar to transport a small portable transmitter from Moond on the railway out of the city. Meanwhile the scientists of the PAPERMOON begin their investigation of the screen field, which surrounds the drill head, and Presto Go, the highest Kuender, ensures that a steady stream of pilgrims flow into Moond.

Gia de Moleon communicates to Cistolo Khan over radio that the unknown term Megaon wave might be able to be attributed to the young scientist Attaca Meganon, who disappeared in 1251 NGE in a Camelot recruiting office on Olympus.

Meanwhile, in Trokan’s crust the new temperature conditions lead to tectonic strains, which unload themselves on October 15, 1288 NGE in its first quake. At the same time atmospheric turbulence forms cyclones, in spite of the low atmospheric pressure on the new fourth planet. The almost one hundred fifty million Herreach that populate Trokan, are nearly helplessly delivered to the unusual forces of nature.

Although Bechner states in a new broadcast, that the activity of the PAPERMOON’s crew before Kummerogs temple is robbing the praying Herreach of their space t o pray in and is destroying their cultural inheritance, the First Terran Paola Daschmagan rejects Khan’s demand to forbid the broadcasts of the TNR.

Gen Triokod, an important leader of the Free Breathers, arrives at Moond’s rail station and is protected from assassins by Bechner and his two coworkers. Snowstorms sweep over Moond. Due to his reports on the Free Breathers, Drenderbaum agrees that the journalist Bechner can be there, when the men and women with Thooker, the chief scientists of the PAPERMOON gradually takes down the screen field around Kummerog’s temple on October twentieth.

At the same time two thousand Free Breathers create the twelve meter large, Heereach similar shape of the giant Schimbaa, which breaks through the remainders of the five-dimensional screen and, followed by Cistolo Khan and Myles Kantor, penetrates the nineteen meter high and seventeen meter broad opening in the drill head shaped object.

The enormous of shape Schimbaa causes devastating destruction inside the temple, whose delicate structures Kantor associates with neural cross-linkages, but disappears finally, after an earthquake kills many of the two thousand Free Breathers. The immortals in the GILGAMESH pursue the events on Trokan helplessly through the TNR transmissions…

1804 - Kampf ums Überleben
Battle For Survival
Arndt Ellmer

Myles Kantor visits Kallia Nedrun, who is still in a coma on Mimas. His mother Enza Mansoor, which had for many years cared for her son’s unconscious wife, had died in a laboratory accident in 1219 NGE.

Meanwhile, on Trokan new tears form in the planet’s crust. With three thousand spaceships the Terrans strive to work against the eruptions by producing release valves for the magma and helping bring the Herreach to safe zones. These people behave apathetically or heedlessly, because their conception of the world threatens to break due to devastations caused by the giant Schimbaa and their missing god Kummerog.

The astronaut Donder Pereira, who lost her son and husband with the fall of the POLYAMID, tries to save a Herreach by tightening her SERUN around it, and is killed by its mate. In Kummerog’s Temple the LFT scientists discover that all the aggregates inside have disintegrated into a dark dust.

Since the study of the drill head makes no progress, Cistolo Khan permits that a sloop from the GILGAMESCH to land on Trokan. The GILGAMESCH I, a one thousand meter large pentagonal dodecahedron, separates from the main ship and lands with Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull and Alaska Saedelaere beside the PAPERMOON. The Camelot scientists determine first that the distortions of the Megaon wave have faded away completely, and then discover that under Kummerog’s Temple is a six meter large, hollow object, that had hidden its existence from the LFT measuring equipment.

Its molecularly highly compressed covering can be opened only with special welding sets. Inside the chamber a flat, honeycombed object is recognizable, which begins to shine, when Rhodan approaches. The immortal comes completely under the spell of the honeycomb and hears the mental message: "the column is opened. Please keep a safe distance." At the last moment Khan manages to pull Rhodan the chamber. Kummerog’s Temple breaks apart and a silvery, mushroom-shaped object pushes itself from the soil, whose cap sits on a ninety-nine meter long handle, of which sixty-six meters remains hidden under Trokan’s surface. As the egg before it, the object is hidden from all LFT measuring instruments. As a result, they register energy like the explosion of a fusion bomb, but the mushroom shaped object remains visually unchanged.

In a trance, Rhodan begins to paint strange figures into the sand. When three LFT scientists try on the morning of October 28, 1288 NGE to open the wall of the mushroom shaped object with integrators of Camelot origin they are destroyed in a burst of fire. Immediately after it Rhodan, followed by Bull and Saedelaere, walk towards the mysterious object, as if compelled by something, and penetrates the wall without any trouble.

While the three cell activator bearers remain missing, a one and a half meter tall, curled up being with black, cracked skin falls out from the mushroom. It possesses a shoulder width of a meter, bowed legs and a round head with two completely white eyes. The flat nose exhibits three nostrils. The mouth is lipless and has only six individually standing, light yellow sharp teeth. One of the arms ends in a large hand with two fingers and two thumbs. The other hand seems to have been amputated with a burning hot object. Before the being loses consciousness, it spits out the word "Kummerog". At the same time, on Mimas, Kallia Nedrun shows signs of waking up form her coma, which has lasted for the last seventy-six years.

1805 - Arsenal der Macht
Arsenal of Power
Peter Terrid

After they entered the silver mushroom cathedral on Trokan, Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull and Alaska Saedelaere arrive through a fogbank at the "Bridge to Infinity", a ten meter wide bridge, which consists of solid black planks twenty centimeters thick. The fifty centimeter thick columns holding the Bridge up lose themselves in unrecognizable depths. The beginning and the end of the bridge are also not to be seen. While his companions feel uneasy and would clearly like to turn around immediately, Rhodan, on the contrary, feels comfortable where he is. As he proceeds along the bridge, he can observe planets, stars, black holes and the passing of whole galaxies.

The companions discover a blue and white striped backpack and after exactly one thousand two hundred seventy-nine steps arrive at the end of the bridge. Fog again coats the three Terrans. They appear before another mushroom cathedral, in which a nine kilometer long and seven kilometer wide space station is installed on an elliptical cross section. A closing bulkhead cuts Rhodan, Bull and Saedelaere off from a return to the mushroom cathedral. The inside of the abandoned station, which stands at an unknown location in intergalactic empty space, is nearly completely devastated by a fire. Water is not to be found anywhere. In the hope that their cell activators will neutralize any possible poisons, as once occurred with their kidnapping by the chairman of Plophos, the immortals finally quench their thirst with an unknown yellow liquid.

Many areas of the station contain miniatures of spaceships, weapons and other technical objects in countless niches under hardened extinguisher foam, which the Terrans initially regard as samples of a sales exhibit, particularly since the characteristics of the exhibits are mentally described, as soon as one approaches a niche. But defects are also announced in all the devices. In one hangar the companions discover a three hundred meter long, wedge-shaped, black spaceship, which is one hundred meters wide at the tail, forty meters high and has a thirty meters thick gold colored hemisphere in the nose.

In order to be able to investigate the space station better, the three cell activator bearers separate. Bull discovers a box in a niche, and in his mind the picture of a one hundred forty centimeter tall Myranian mercenary develops. When the Terran jokingly orders three hundred of them, the box grows into a barrack, from whose openings the dwarf sized humanoid Myraners rush out. While they attack Bull with battleaxes, it turns out that the warriors possess a second shadow, which can act independently of its original. Rhodan hurries to his friend to assist him and recognizes the fact that one can defeat the Myraner and its shadow by attacking the passive part of the duo in each case. Nevertheless the two Terrans threaten to be defeated by the tiny warriors, until the Myraners perish due to a painful malfunction in the barrack device.

Rhodan and Bull now realize that this is not a sample exhibition hall, but an arsenal of power. The two Terrans find its control center at one foci of the elliptical cross section of the space station. In a picture made up of numerous beads, the control brain shows a portrait of Rhodan.

Meanwhile a gelatinous covering has engulfed Saedelaere, who is in the proximity of the black ship. When the two other cell activator carriers finally leave the center and find their companion, Rhodan and Bull are also coated by the same type of material and lose consciousness. When they awake again, the gelatin has to a large extent dropped from the bodies of Rhodan and Bull. Rhodan is convinced that the radiation from their cell activator chips killed the amoebas, like his old cell activator once did with his son Thomas Cardif.

Robots carry the two immortals back into the center. The control brain welcomes Rhodan as a master of the arsenal and conveys mentally: "you are the one, who is to come here, in order to take possession of the arsenal of the Baolin Nda. But you came before your time." Because it takes ten thousand years before an arsenal like this is ready for its use, and before this arsenal will be available again, Rhodan came too late and too early.

On the instruction of the immortal, the control brain opens the bulkhead to the mushroom cathedral, which stands in the other focus of the arsenal’s cross section. Before the two immortals leave the center, on the bead screen the brain shows them the honeycomb symbol followed by a flood of pictures of organisms, worlds, spaceships, galaxies and machines underneath the Kummerog temple on Trokan.

When Rhodan and Bull return to the hangar, Saedelaere and the black wedge spaceship have disappeared. The two friends turn to the mushroom cathedral, in order to go back to Trokan. Rhodan has firmly decided to use all the instruments of power of the GILGAMESCH to air the secrets of the arsenal.

1806 - Der Mutant der Cantrell
The Cantrell Mutant
Peter Griese

After Alaska Saedelaere has awoken aboard the black wedge shaped spaceship, the gelatin covering which surrounds him mentally announces itself as one of Kummerog’s skins. The skin reports that Kummerog comes from the people of the Cantrell whose members have to slough off their skin every five years. Because Kummerog, whose age nobody knows, is a mutant, his skins live on, remaining in contact with their master and can be used by Kummerog to enslave other beings.

In the mental picture which the skin shows him of Kummerog’s exterior, Saedelaere notes that the hands of the Cantrell with their two fingers and two thumbs resemble those of the Herreach. The skin describes Kummerog as brilliant, cruel and completely unscrupulous. Because of his crimes he was exiled by the Cantrell into the galaxy Bröhnder, where he soon rallied a group of feared pirates, the "Murderers of Bröhnder” around himself. Among other things, using his skins he brought Vaikhuur, the most capable scientist from the people of the Unan-Kjur, and the dwarfish Blibb Gonzerol, a technical specialist, under his control as slaves and made a base in the asteroid Brick.

Saedelaere recognizes that the skin, which is entirely fixated upon the goal to finding its master again, depends upon him for its nutrient and oxygen supply, and pretends a readiness to cooperate at first. Finally, he succeeds in subjugating the skin in a mental duel. However, he cannot bring himself to kill the strange being, particularly as he will need its protection after the arrival on Brick. During their mental discussions, the skin reports on what happened to Kummerog sixty-six years ago:

During a flight with his wedge shaped spaceship CANT, Kummerog follows an emergency call to the wreck of a spindle shaped, seventy meters long spaceship, whose nose sector consisted of a crosswise twenty-five meter long and four meter thick quadrangular beams. Aboard the ship the pirate discovers a lethally injured, 2.20 meters tall, emaciated looking humanoid with silver skin that called himself the “fourth envoy of Thoregon”. The stranger asked Kummerog to fly to the Arsenal of the Baolin-Nda in the empty space between Bröhnder and Troutt, to inform an ‘authorized person’ that Goedda has been awoken and sent on her journey. The dying envoy stressed that that cosmic disasters are threatening whole galaxies if the news was not passed on, and he handed over to Kummerog the coordinates of the Arsenal and a six centimeter wide, black bracelet which he called a "Passantum".

In the hope to be able to plunder the unknown Arsenal Kummerog flew with Yonkanrog, his most important slave, a yellow skinned, one-eyed, reptiloid Bodaden that survived the conquest of Brick by the Cantrell mutant, to the indicated place. In a blue and white plastic backpack he carried two older, conserved skins as well a newer skin that he had shed only shortly after the departure from Brick.

Arriving at the Arsenal of the Baolin-Nda, a skeptical Kummerog was offered subminiaturized artifacts, but from curiosity took a thirty centimeter long tube similar to a drill head, which was recommended as a freely programmable time machine. While he believed he was only lighting a fireworks display with another cube, he discovered too late that he had rashly released a nuclear fire with it in wide ranges of the Arsenal. Because he was now cut off from the CANT as well as the Main Control Room of the arsenal, the mutant finally fled with his now empty backpack into the mushroom cathedral to which the Passantum made access possible, and ended up on the "Bridge to Infinity”. However, the mental voice the Passantum declared that he had now entered into a forbidden area and that the passage to the other side would have to be activated by intelligent living beings from outside. It then showed him that at the other end of the bridge laid a lifeless planet with an underground mushroom cathedral, and besides, ordered him to take off the bracelet. When Kummerog refused, the bracelet glowed up and amputated the hand of the Cantrell. The Passantum itself then changed into an egg of five centimeters of length.

Meanwhile Kummerog’s slave Yonkanrog was recognized by the central computer of the Arsenal as an authorized person and received a system to extinguish the nuclear fire. Afterwards a piece of falling debris killed the Bodaden, however.

Because he saw no chance to leave the bridge under his own power, Kummerog ordered the time machine to extend to fifty centimeters of length and inserted his separated hand and the Passantum into a compartment inside it. Then he gave the time machine the order to extend to its maximum size when it reached its target and to put its time lapse mechanism into operation with its maximum rate of 3,7012 million. The hand would be used on the dead planet as base material for natural evolution. The time machine was also ordered to care for the fact that the intelligence which developed from this evolution was peaceful and looked at it as its purpose in life to open the cathedral and receive the divinity Kummerog. As soon as the time machine detected a 5-dimensional impulse, it was to switch off its time field and carry the mushroom cathedral to the planet’s surface.

After the time machine engine took on its regular size again, Kummerog threw it into the fog bank at the end of the bridge. Then he instructed his newest skin in the Arsenal of the Baolin-Nda with which he still stood in weak mental contact, to search out a body for itself and return with the preprogrammed CANT to Brick to look for their master with Vaikhuur and Gonzerol. Because he estimated that more than 300 million years would have to pass on the lifeless planet for a civilization with 5-dimensional technology to appear, he had to count on a one hundred year waiting period, so Kummerog shifted himself into a biological deep sleep.

Saedelaere was reminded of the report of the black small box, which Ernst Ellert had given to Perry Rhodan in Hirdobaan. After a twenty-one day journey, on November 22, 1288 NGE the CANT reaches Brick, the sixty kilometer thick asteroid...

1807 - Die Haut des Bösen
The Evil Skin
H.G. Francis

While the scientists of the GILGAMESCH I continue to examine the mushroom cathedral on Trokan under Myles Kantor’s leadership without success, the unconscious Kummerog, who is in a clinic on Mimas, begins to separate a new skin. At the same time his amputated left hand regenerates.

On November 4, 1288 NGE the two hundred meter long Taxit trade ship PRETTY PLAID, captained by the Plophoser Pavel Morquoise arrives on the border of the Sol system. The master businessman of the Taxit Organization hopes to be allowed to go, on account of his friendship with Bruno Drenderbaum, make a trade deal with the Herreach.

Four days after he wakes up, Kummerog explains that he was a castaway who had lost his hand in the galaxy Bröhnder during an accident, when as the single survivor of his spaceship he ended up in a foreign space station and came upon a peculiar plank bridge. On it he fell into a kind of paralysis and was pushed by some unknown force, until he ende dup dumped on the planet Trokan.

But because of the Kummerog myth of the Herreach, Cistolo Khan, Myles Kantor and Bruno Drenderbaum know that the report of the stranger cannot correspond to the truth. Because he fears it to be the only way to be able to find Perry Rhodan, Reginald Bull and Alaska Saedelaere again, Myles Kantor shows Kummerog celestial charts, so that he can identify the galaxy Bröhnder in them.

Meanwhile, the journalist Katie Johnson has been sent to Mimas by the editor of her news service to get to Kummerog and to get information about Project Camelot. She takes a drug to simulate a mysterious illness and flies to Mimas. While ‘recovering’ there, she tries to drug Cantor by spiking an edible mug of coffee on November 14th. However, Drenderbaum accidentally consumes the cup and it disorients him long enough to allow Kummerog’s newly sloughed off skin to attack and let the Cantrell mutant take control of him.

Bruno knocks out Cantor and flees from Mimas with Kummerog in a space jet. Due to a drug that Drenerbaum had injected her with during the takeover, Katie Johnson, the single witness to the skin’s attack, loses most of her memories.

Bruno steers his space jet to the PRETTY PLAID and arranges with Morquoise, who does not note that his friend stands under Kummerog’s control, to leave the Sol system. Later on the Taxit ship comes upon an object that its sensors can only register blurrily. It is five to six hundred meters thick object, whose surface is covered by prickly protuberances and sends out detection rays of an ultrahigh hyperfrequency, which cause strong nausea with all the living beings on board the PRETTY PLAID, as its hyperradio receiver also picks it up as a staccato hammering. Without further explanation Kummerog, who recognizes the object, states that the Milky Way is in acute danger. Moments later, the object vanishes.

Later, in an almost uninhabited region of the galactic center in which Morquoise has flown the PRETTY PLAID on Kummerog’s order, Kummerog and his slave leave the LADY PRETTY with their space jet. Afterwards the stranger from Bröhnder triggers explosives that he had earlier ordered Bruno to plant all over the trading vessel.

1808 - Landung auf Lafayette
Landing on Lafayette
Susan Schwartz

On the marsh world Lafayette, the fourth planet of the Collore system lays the research base Camp Mirage, which is led by the Xeno-biologist Anja Shriver. Among others the base is manned by three former Beausoleils, Joseph Broussard Jr., Michael Doucet and Dewey Balfa. These veterans of the second Coma expedition had remained aboard the BASIS after its return from Hirdobaan and conversion into a casino around Sifterman III as entertainments officers, until they returned to Lafayette, the homeland of the Beausoleils, after Broussard had an accident in 1270 NGE. This accident resulted in heavy brain damage for Broussard. The injury could be diminished somewhat by the implantation of a chip, but could not be entirely cured. The slightly simple Lafayette boy Pepe is his constant companion.

On December 1, 1288 NGE - even as a LFT delegation, which is to decide on the continued operation of Camp Mirage, is arriving, a screeching staccato sound begins coming over the hyperradio receiver, and the whole staff of the base breaks down under terrible pains. Only Broussard seems to be immune to the foreign influence, and he succeeds in switching off the receiver. This leads to an alleviation of the tortures, however, can not prevent the death of the radio operator in charge of it. All the other people feel a disorientation and strong tickling headache, which seem to be caused by constant detection rays of an unknown origin.

The following day a spaceship is located by base from four hundred kilometers distance, which is approximately four hundred fifty meters long and is covered with prickly outgrowths. But the sensors can return only phantom like representations of the approaching ship. At the same moment the painful detection radiation also increases, so that it is clear that Camp Mirage has been discovered. Before the base is destroyed by three approximately twenty meter long "quills", Anja Shriver’s team is able to flee. Radio contact with Swamp City, the capital of Lafayette, is prevented by an interference field, so that no help can be called from there. During their flight through the marshes they come upon the LFT delegation which was also impaired by the detection rays.

When they try to reach the big spaceship, they discover some seven meter high domes which are fifteen meters thick and are fitted out with a multiplicity of vibrating aerials similar to quills. Three meter tall egg-shaped objects fly back and forth between these domes. Joseph Broussard Jr. succeeds in shooting one of these objects. Tough, evidently living green masses flee from it and disintegrate. Shortly after the object explodes.

A short time later, the egg-shaped try to drive the Terrans to the spaceship. When they resist, the things attack. Shortly after the small quill ships also intervene in the battle and kill the refugees. Only Broussard and Pepe escape the massacre. They head out int eh direction of Swamp City on December 7, 1288 NGE in order to report on the attack of the quill ships.

1809 - Hetzjagd durch den Hyperraum
Chase Through Hyperspace
Horst Hoffmann

In the periphery of the spherical star cluster M13 lies the penal planet Trankun, a hydrogen methane world of the Arkonide Crystal Empire, which serves for the development and production of biological weapons. On December 7, 1288 NGE Atlan frees one hundred sixty prisoners from this planet with two VESTA cruisers from the IPRASA. The IPRASA is an organization similar to the USO, which also helps itself to numerous, still secret bases of the United Stars Organization.

Among the released prisoners is Hermon von Ariga, a twenty-seven year old distantly related cousin to Atlan’s former longtime companion Theta von Ariga, who is externally very similar to the Arkonide. He was on Trankun because his relatively insignificant resistance movement “Strikers for Arkon” was captured five months ago by the empire. The VESTA cruisers return to Atlan’s GILGAMESCH MODULE II with the proper name RICO. The RICO is equipped with five VESTA Cruisers, five Minor-Globes, ten space jets with thirty meters of diameter and twenty small jets. Its commander is the Arkonide Gerine, a former naval commander of the empire. She fell into disgrace and was sentenced to death on account of her refusal in 1279 NGE to attack an unarmed peace fleet of the Linguides which denounced the political developments and the threatening dissolution of the Galacticum in a protest flight. Atlan makes Hermon the fire control chief of the RICO, which returns to the GILGAMESCH in the Sol system.

Shortly after this, Atlan gets to know of the events on Lafayette. Other incidents with the hedgehog ships, now also called foreign ships, are also observed on Siga and Grampasz, a colonial world of the Blues. The cell activator bearers also associate the destruction of the PRETTY PLAID with the strangers and approach the space sector concerned with the GILGAMESCH. There Myles Kantor unsuccessfully investigates it with the new hyperspace-resonator. It is a device still presently in the testing stage, with which 5-dimensional resonances can be measured by which suns contrast in a characteristic way with the little background radiation of the universe. This resonator was what pointed out the unusual hyperstructures on Trokan to the activator bearers.

However, Myles Kantor does discover that there are two types of hedgehog ships. One type is four hundred fifty meters long and radiates the dangerous detection rays whose purpose seems to be it to deeply analyze foreign living beings. Kantor names this scanning a Tangle-Scan. The second type of hedgehog ships on the contrary is six hundred meters long and evidently serves as a battleship, which destroys all approaching ships.

On December 9, 1288 NGE the GILGAMESCH comes upon a four hundred fifty meter hedgehog ship which threatens the LFT planet Haparon in the Moron system. The RICO separates from the GILGAMESCH and attacks the hedgehog ship with transform cannons. The crew is exposed to the Tangle-Scan during the confrontation from whose effects the mousebeaver Gucky has to particularly suffer. The strangers remain undamaged by the attack, but nevertheless flee from the system. This begins a wild chase through hyperspace, until the RICO can finally catch the hedgehog ship and shoot it until it is no longer maneuverable. While the ship can able to send out a short emergency call in the direction of the Westside of the Milky Way, it is boarded by Atlan, Chief Engineer Kaha von Sceer, the sloop chief Sassaron and other seven companions.

The foreigners had withdrawn into the control room and secured it by an energy screen. When Atlan tries to make contact with the strangers, they blow up central section of the ship and themselves with it. In the nearly completely destroyed area, the combat patrol can now only find greenish scraps of flesh. While thirty six hundred meter hedgehog ships approach the wreck, it is caught with tractor rays by Atlan’s ship and taken away.

1810 - Der Weg nach Camelot
The Path To Camelot
Arndt Ellmer

Kummerog and Bruno Drenderbaum proceed with their space jet to the Bedden system. There they meet the Springer Engereg who still owes Drenderbaum a favor. With his help the two refugees want to use the Camelot recruitment office aboard the BASIS to reach the secret world of the cell activator bearers. Engereg is one of four department heads of the BASIS and responsible for the adventure experience worlds aboard. The other department heads are the Ertruser Rukkus Albasta (security) and two Terrans, Eleonore Bricksen (casino) and William Crimson (Merchandising and guest care). These four people are subordinate to only the mysterious Manager.

On December 1, 1288 NGE the space jet, which now carries the camouflage designation GORDIGAL, arrives on the BASIS about Siftermann III. Drenderbaum, who portrays himself as a Jerôme Bhloppar explains the skin wrapping up him and the unusual appearance of Kummerog with the fact that they are suffering from a disease with which Camelot agents had supposedly infected him and the Cantrell. Therefore, they must get to the world of the immortals, in order to get the necessary treatment.

During their stay aboard the BASIS there are several attacks in the adventure experience worlds of the ship by an unknown assassin against carious groups of guests. This assassin pretends to be late Beausoleil Jean-Michel de Vert Le Petit who had already died in 1277 NGE. He justifies his acts with the fact that the authorities had transformed the BASIS into a sinful sewer. When the Ertruser Albasta is finally able to trap the assassin in a Paratron bubble, it turns out that it is a form energy imitation of the dead man who shortly after dissolves. It is generally supposed that this "BASIS ghost" was a syntronic long-term program of the Beausoleil.

On December 20, 1288 NGE – while Drenderbaum in the meantime learns the history of the Cantrell from Kummerog’s skin - the Terrans Andor Felsch and Simon Dury get passage chips to Camelot from the leader of the recruitment office, Olaf Grindgen, after they pass the admission tests. Engereg ensures that the chips are stolen and reprogrammed to the individual data of Kummerog and Drenderbaum. Thereupon the Cantrell kills all the people in the know with the help of a bomb, before he and Drenderbaum leave the BASIS with their space jet. Because it is made to seem that the ghost Jean-Michel de Vert Le Petit is also behind this "accident", nobody investigates it too deeply.

Some days previously Gucky is in the Treezan system with the VESTA Cruiser TVK-1 of his GILGAMESCH Module TRAMP. He observes a four hundred fifty meter hedgehog ship, as he searches the fifth planet Zahan, a colonial world of the Apaso-Blues hit with the Tangle radiation. When five ring disk ships of the Raglund Forum try to repulse the intruder, several combat units of the hedgehog ships appear and two of the defenders are destroyed. The remaining three ships flee. The TVK-1 also withdraws and flies to the red giant sun Zustra, where the GILGAMESCH waits.

On December 15, 1288 NGE the RICO reaches the GILGAMESCH with the wreck of the hedgehog ship. From his module ENZA, Myles Kantor begins the examination of the ship. The wreck is filled with a network of compact metal ropes and conglomerates of the most different generators. However, Kantor finds out that all these devices for the production of the Tangle radiation have clearly been destroyed by the crew. In the rear of the ship the scientists can make out an unusual radiation, which emanates from a module. After one unsuccessful attempt they succeed in opening the module. It contains a ten by five by three meter rectangle. When they discover this object, the rectangle sends out a hyperradio impulse. Shortly afterward, one hundred six hundred meter hedgehog ships appear and the GILGAMESCH withdraws.

Some days later the available information is evaluated. It is confirmed that the four hundred fifty meter hedgehog ships are investigation and surveying ships. Their task is to collect information about not only the conditions in the Milky Way, but also about solar systems, the planets as well as their masses and raw material deposits. However, the Galactics themselves and their psyches appear to be of special interest to them. Obviously the strangers were able to find a certain characteristic which seems to be of great importance for them with their previous scans of all intelligent living beings in the Milky Way. It is theorized that it could have something to do with a kind of UBSEF constant.

On December 22, 1288 NGE the GILGAMESCH, begins its journey back to Camelot, while Atlan takes a VESTA Cruiser to fly to the Humanidrom. He intends on mobilizing the Galactics against the invaders.

1811 - Konferenz der Galaktiker
Conference of the Galactics
H.G. Francis

In spite of all the precautionary measures taken, the Terran colonial world Lavorre is occupied by hedgehog ships. Because this shows the danger of the foreign intruders, the First Terran Paola Daschmagan calls up a crisis meeting in Terrania to obtain a state of martial law in the LFT.

Meanwhile on December 23, 1288 NGE Ferrol is attacked by hedgehog ships. This is the first attack on one of the central worlds of the Galacticum. The attack is a politically critical incident in the form of an exploding research center. They were carrying out research in this center with dangerous poisons, which were considered necessary by the Ferones because the First Terran had rejected the delivery of certain scientific data. The Ferrone Kendix, who is the delegate sent to the galactic conference on the hedgehog ship crisis in the Humanidrom, therefore holds Paola Daschmagan personally responsible for the incident.

The Arkonide Voge von Tissaque has an abysmal hate for the cell activator bearers, because they are almost completely protected by their cell activator chips against diseases, while his beloved sister Alyschja must suffer from a deadly infection. When he stops aboard a disk spaceship from the Raglund Forum, which is on its way together with thirty-nine other ships to the Unither colonial world Corono in the Araaquammpe system, he uses the opportunity to spread rumors that the immortals were behind the attacks with the Tangle radiation. Corono is threatened by a fleet of hedgehog ships which can easily destroy the group of ships. Only Voge von Tissaque and Alyschja can escape the destruction in a sloop.

With the sloop the brother and sister reach the planet Vona, which belongs to the Crystal Empire. There they meet the leader of the Arkonide delegation for the galactic conference, Rossom von Atalaya, who agrees to have Alyschja healed of her illness. However, in return Rossom requires Voge to commit an assassination attempt on Atlan’s life. He accepts this and received a surgically augmented right hand.

Finally, on December 27, 1288 NGE the conference in the Humanidrom begins. It appears that the tears within the Galacticum are very deep and manifests itself in mutual accusations and constant distrust. The Arkonide delegation feels it as an affront that Hermon von Ariga, a condemned terrorist, is in the retinue of the Atlan. Atlan just manages to finish reporting on the knowledge gained from the examination of the hedgehog ship wreck and call the Galacticum to cooperate, in view of the crisis, before the conference is disturbed by an incident. The Ferrone Kendix tries to humble Paola Daschmagan by publicly spraying her with a dye, but unintentionally hits Rossom von Atalaya. This leads chaos in the conference. During the excitement Voge von Tissaque tries to execute his assassination attempt, but is shot down. Because the Arkonide delegation - followed by other participants – then leave the conference, it is completely broken off, a failure.

Meanwhile, on the border to the Milky Way halo, five thousand four hundred light years away from the Humanidrom, the arrival of then thousand hedgehog ships are observed by of a LFT patrol. The ENDEAVOR is the only one of three patrol ships that can escape into hyperspace from the hedgehog ships.

1812 - Camelot
Camelot
Ernst Vlcek

With the help of their passage chips Kummerog and Bruno Drenderbaum reach the supposedly wrecked space fort ORION-738. In 1144 NGE, the station had been the scene of the meeting between Galbraith Deighton and Romulus, AKA Homer G. Adams, the leader of the resistance movement ARIES. They are expected there by the android Kerom, who is to bring them after Camelot. However, when the android discovers their subterfuge, Kummerog shoots down the android and prevents the release of the self-destruct mechanism. He then hacks into what is left of Kerom to learn the coordinates of Camelot. Arriving there, the Cantrell makes the space jet crash, with which the ship is practically atomized. The two expected recruits Andor Felsch and Simon Dury, whose places Kummerog and Drenderbaum had taken, as well as the android, are considered to have died in the crash.

Camelot turns out to be the former Free Trader world Phoenix, which is the second planet of the sun Ceres in the spherical star cluster M-30 in the halo of the Milky Way. The planet is surrounded by eight orbital stations, which can proceed in the case of a threatening discovery, into the detection protection of Ceres or on one of the other planets of the system. The capital is Port Arthur on the south continent Ophir. It has over five hundred thousand inhabitants and is separated by a green belt from the adjacent space harbor, shipyard facilities and four space suitable service stations with the designations Dock I to IV. The center of the city is the HQ-Camelot, constructed in the shape of a seventeen story pyramid and an edge length of over one thousand meters.

When the GILGAMESCH reaches Camelot with the captured hedgehog ship, Gregor Mineo, the commander of Perry’s GILGAMESCH Module with the designation MOORGA, asks to be allowed to proceed on the search for the three cell activator bearers who had disappeared on Trokan. Myles Kantor rejects this and orders the examination of the hedgehog ship to begin in Dock II.

The Siganese David Golgar who had emigrated, together with the remaining population of Siga in 1255 NGE to Camelot, manages to penetrate into the sealed off square machine block in the rear of the wreck. Together with a previously fed in bit of energy, Golgar unintentionally triggers a nuclear fire, which shortly covers all of Dock II. Homer G. Adams’ GILGAMESCH Module ROSTOCK, which has just returned to Camelot, transports the dock together with its nearby surrounding countryside into hyperspace, before the nuclear fire can reach farther around itself. Four people end up having died in the nuclear fire, including Cyrus Morgan, the former Chief Scientist of the BASIS.

With the help of cellular tissue previously retrieved on the hedgehog ship the Xeno-Medic Arfe Loidan reconstructs the genome of the foreign invaders, which appear like giant snakes and are christened Viperides. They possess an approximately two meter long body ending in a thickened stub and have six limbs in the form of tentacles: a pair of legs, a pair of action arms and a secondary arm pair. While the one and a half meter long action arms dispose of particularly mobile and sensitive suckers, the short secondary arms serve only for the absorption of nutrients and body care. The whole body is covered by small scales, which give off an iridescent gleam with movement. In addition, the scales serve as a flexible exoskeleton for the being without bones. Only the wedge-shaped head possesses cartilaginous structures. The Viperides have toothless jaws, which are fitted out with a half wreath of three centimeter long bristles. The eyes are yellow and have no irises. Loidan also discovers that the strangers dispose of no characteristic gender features and are not capable of reproduction. Nevertheless they were not grown in test tubes or cloned, but appeared in some natural manner.

Shortly after his arrival on Camelot, Atlan learned about the fall of the space jet and the supposed death of the recruits Felsch and Dury as well as the android Kerom. Due to the fact that their recruitment office on the BASIS was destroyed just after their takeoff from it, the Arkonide becomes suspicious and orders the crash site examined more carefully. Meanwhile Kummerog, who feels an insatiable hunger in spite of constant feeding and his subjugated captive Drenderbaum hide in the wilderness with the senile father of the security technical expert Dorothea Ringent, who imagines himself still in the time of the Free Traders and the Drakiste. With her father as a hostage the two refugees are able to extort Dorothea Ringent to fake the evidence of the two recruits’ death and also get Kummerog documents about the security arrangements of Camelot. In the end Kummerog decides that his best course of action and his desire is to steal the whole GLIGAMESH!…

1813 - Die Mörder von Bröhnder
The Murderers of Broehnder
Peter Griese

Alaska Saedelaere reaches the asteroid Brick in the galaxy Broehnder with the wedge shape spaceship CANT of the Cantrell Kummerog. In the headquarters of the Murderers of Broehnder he finds only four bearers of Kummerog’s skins. They are Unan-Kjur Vaikhuur, Settheran, Blibb Gonzerol and Kaydessel which have survived the sixty-six years of Kumemrog’s absence, in contrast to the other skin bearers. The four slaves have created a cult in the absence of the pirate leader, idolizing Kummerog as a god master. With this cult it was possible for them to control the members of the gang not provided with skins. The skin which the cell activator bearer Saedelaere carries, and in the view of the other skin bearers is controlled by, is the youngest of all. Therefore, the Terran becomes the new leader of the Murderers of Broehnder.

Kummerog’s four remaining slaves try to extend their life with the help of Liquorac. They retrieve this hormone from a being by the name of Varquasch. He excretes the substance in stressful situations, which the skin bearers generate by torture and constant starving. Varquasch is almost as large as an elephant and possesses gray skin, as well as two massive hind legs and two short front arms. They end in delicate gripping arms. The head of the being is a meter large, conically formed and covered by cream-colored fur. The eyes are set behind a four slit nose and are of a yellow color. At the top of the head sits a small mouth. Saedelaere finds out that it is not an animal, like the pirates believe, but an intelligent being. He feeds Varquasch in secret and supplies him with medicine.

To get back to the Arsenal of the Baolin-Nda, where he hopes to find Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull again, he orders the pirates to start a search for Kummerog, which should begin at the place of the Cantrell’s disappearance - the Arsenal. Forced to comply by the skins, Vaikhuur, Settheran, Gonzerol and Kaydessel have no other choice than to obey. Together with the four skin bearers, ten other pirates and Varquasch proceed with Saedelaere onto the CANT for the 21-day journey.

On the way mysterious murders take place aboard the CANT, to which Kaydessel, Gonzerol and nine of the other pirates fall victim. Each time the corpses are bestially mutilated, and the murderer leaves no traces. Saedelaere tries with the help of the on-board computer, which had received the offensive designation Fasoldog from Kummerog, which means something like tin box, to catch the unknown offender. It turns out that Dorota – that is the true name of the computer - had blocked a large portion of its potential when it had fallen into hands of the Cantrell 144 years ago together with the spaceship. Dorota had originally been built by the Normads of Broehnder. Along with Positronic and Syntronic, it also contains Vegaonic elements. The computer has recognized that Saedelaere is not controlled by Kummerog’s skin, and, therefore, places its whole potential at his disposal, however, still plays the pliant Fasoldog towards the pirates.

Finally, the CANT reaches the approximate location of the Arsenal. However, without Kummerog’s Passantum it takes a while, before the station is found, because it is to be located only by a 5-dimensional signal in the vicinity of one light year. Arriving at the Arsenal, the group finds out that there is no way for them to get into the station. While they look in vain for a solution, Saedelaere accidentally addresses the on-board computer as Dorota. Therefore, Vaikhuur recognizes the game the former mask bearer is playing and attacks him together with Settheran. However, before they can touch him, they are attacked and killed by five small beings that possess a striking resemblance Varquasch. It turns out that these beings are the offspring of Varquasch - a hermaphroditic being - which it has kept hidden in a pouch in his body. These youngsters were also responsible for the murders during the flight to the Arsenal. Only the dwarfish pirate Tumed is spared. Because they cannot get into the Arsenal with the means available to them, Saedelaere and Dorota decide to approach the place where Kummerog met the Fourth Envoy of Thoregon sixty-six years ago.

Meanwhile, four days after Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull had lost Alaska Saedelaere, who had actually flown off in Kummerogg’s wedge shaped spaceship, they decide to return over the Bridge to Infinity and the mushroom cathedral to Trokan. Before they leave the Arsenal, they leave Alaska a message. Shortly before the mushroom cathedral Rhodan finds a black, egg-shaped object which immediately changes shape and wraps around his wrist in a black band. He receives a mental message which addresses him as a new passenger of the Bridge. Shortly after this, the Bridge seems to swing and writhe. When this apparition comes to an end, Rhodan looks with the help of his new bracelet through the fog and the mushroom cathedral and recognizes that the Bridge has moved, because instead of Trokan a sun covered plain is to be recognized. Nevertheless, Rhodan and Bull cross into the mushroom cathedral to investigate.

1814 - Unter dem Galornenstern
Under Galorn's Star
Robert Feldhoff

After they cross the Bridge to Infinity, Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull leave the mushroom cathedral there and appear in a dead and cold rocky desert. In the distance a plateau is recognizable from which a stubby shaped spaceship launches. With an investigation of the nearby surroundings the two Terrans bump into a being that looks like a crystallized skeleton.

The being carries the name Foremon and is the guard of the mushroom cathedral. His task consists of that and escorting incoming passengers from the mushroom cathedral to the “elevator” to the city Gaalo on the plateau. Foremon is approximately 1.60 meters tall and an albino. The eyes of the noseless head, reminding one of a skull, are protected by wide bone bulges. The guard possesses remarkably large ears with which he can absorb solar energy from the sun Galorn’s Star, which is in the galaxy Plantagoo. Foremon has been guard of the mushroom cathedral of Galorn, as the planet is named, for centuries and possesses the ability of Morphing. With this it is possible for him to transform the basalt of the rocky desert as he wishes. With the help of this talent he has created himself the so-called stone child, an approximately thirty centimeters tall pseudo-entity, which resembles a hare. Foremon is convinced that the passengers who use the mushroom cathedral and with it the Bridge to Infinity are responsible for the peace existing in the galaxies. In his view the progress of history rests on the shoulders of these admirable creatures. He is particularly reverential towards To Gethen, the Second Envoy of Thoregon, and Ce Rhioton, his successor.

Communication between the two cell activators and Foremon does not come about, because when the guard sees the Passantum of the Fourth Envoy of Thoregon on Rhodan’s arm, he assumes that the two Terrans have murdered him in order to gain possession of the bracelet. Foremon thereupon covers the mushroom cathedral with a layer of basalt to hinder Rhodan and Bull from escaping. The two friends try to clear away the basalt layer with laborious labor. However, they fail, because Foremon closes the occurred openings again immediately.

Subsequently the guard decides to execute the two supposed murderers. However, they manage to escape Foremon’s attacks, destroying stone child in the process and escape in the direction of the mountain where they observed the launching spaceship. Foremon stays behind at first, strongly drained by the attacks.

At the foot of the mountain Rhodan and Bull bump into narrow strips of jungle. There they are able to find food and water and produce primitive climbing equipment for themselves from various materials. The ascent turns out to be extremely difficult. In particular, the increasing cold makes it hard for the two Terrans to work. However, finally, they reach the ice-cold plateau at two thousand meters of height.

Meanwhile Foremon regains his force over the day. From a distance he observes the ascent of the two strangers and makes his way to the elevator, which brings him from the foot of the mountain directly to Gaalo.

1815 - Rätselwelt Galorn
Puzzle World Galorn
Peter Terrid

When Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull have reached the plateau, their chronometers indicate November 3, 1288 NGE. On the high plateau lies the city Gaalo, which consists of five parts. In the middle, on an approximately forty meter high platform is the core city HEART FIVE. This is separated from the surrounded suburbs NORTH ONE, EAST TWO, SOUTH THREE AND WEST by an also forty meter high wall. When the two cell activator bearers reach WEST FOUR through the beginning sour tasting snowfall, they must recognize that the suburbs are slums which consist of half-decayed buildings and inhabited by a multiplicity of different races. Dish shaped robots care for a low level of basic care with food and miniature stoves.

Rhodan and Bull first come upon humanoid Mocksgergers. These possess a yellowish skin, wide noses, mouths without lips and greenish chewing gums. Part of their body language is an intense body odor which varies according to their state of mind. The Krooghs on the contrary are small furry beings with a larger number of small limbs in the bottom of their body. With their pointed snout and two black eyes they resemble Earth rats. The Kroogh are able to join several individuals together into a Grand Kroogh, which then disposes of a raised potential in power and intelligence. The bodies of the Tasch Ter, who come from the planet Tasch-Term on the Westside of the galaxy Plantagoo, remind one of a rotten tree trunk. This blunt body contains a hollow channel which hides four mobile arms and sensing and articulation organs. The whole body is carried by a network of crossing muscle fibers which end in four feet similar to suckers. The Zentrifaal are humanoid living beings which have multiple spinal columns, a wide torso and rubbery skin. Instead of eyes, the face has a ten centimeter long and two centimeter wide viewing band. Its mouth is a crack in the chin area. While the right hand possesses seven fingers with sharp nails, the left has the form of a box. On account of their dark clothes and their bright skin, the Zentrifaals remind of angels of death.

After they learn the first words of the lingua franca of Plantagoo, Goo standard, from some Mocksgergers, they save a clan leader of the Zentrifaal, named A-Ostamul from the attack by the Grand Kroogh Lyskun. A-Ostamul sees himself indebted to Rhodan and Bull and promises them the procurement of a passage off Galorn. In addition, he supplies the two Terrans with information about this world. The Galorns had emigrated there long ago and left behind an Andro-guardian. With the feared Shifting, he ensures that disturbances do not last for long in the suburbs. Most of the inhabitants, nevertheless, stay there to experience the so-called happiness reduction that occurs with the landing of the stub shaped spaceships.

Rhodan and Bull are most interested in reaching the core city, and are therefore brought by A-Ostamul and his adherents to a bunker on the border between NORTH ONE and HEART FIVE. At this moment a stub shaped ship starts its landing and the luck reduction starts. All living beings – including the two cell activator bearers - are frozen in place in the sphere of influence of the happiness reduction, by a feeling of perfect happiness where they have no desire for anything more.

Meanwhile Foremon arrives with the elevator in the core city HEART FIVE. He descends to the nearest suburb and meets two Tasch Ter Man there. These submit to him immediately and address him as "noble" or » fragile divinity «.

1816 - Hüter der Glückseligkeit
The Bliss Guardian
Peter Terrid

The Zentrifaal A Ostamul leads Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull to a faulty dish robot. This had been hit by a flash of some kind some time ago and afterwards had been retrieved by the Zentrifaal. The two cell activator bearers are able to repair the Syntronic of the machine and fly into the bunker with it. It turns out that the bunkers are storerooms and the workshop of the dish robots. They are found by the manlike Andro-guardian Szuker which is 1.85 meters tall and disposes of blue skin and a face without a nose. His features seem to be sad in a strange way.

Rhodan and Bull flee before Szuker and end up in the core city HEART FIVE. This seems to be completely abandoned, but is obviously well maintained. The Terrans penetrate into some buildings of the city and end up in different simulations that seem to show an echo of the respective earlier inhabitants. They are captivated by the illusions but finally tracked down by Szuker and the Andro-guardian discovers the Passantum around Rhodan’s wrist. He supplies the two companions with small translators and bids them welcome in the core city as friends of Ce Rhioton. Szuker explains the conditions on Galorn: the inhabitants of the under-cities are actually unwanted there because they could disturb the consecration of this place. But the ethics of the Galorns forbids the Andro-guardian from applying force against the inhabitants.

Rhodan is able to convince the Andro-guardian as to the fact that he and Bull are on their way on and important mission, and Szuker gives them a data crystal that should facilitate their orientation in the galaxy Plantagoo. It also has the coordinates of the location from which the last known radio message was sent by Ce Rhioton. When the Terrans want to enter the " Field of the Writings “ in the center of the core city, an approximately eight hundred meter field with hundreds of inscribed twelve to twenty meter high pillars, made from a silvery material and with a seventy meter thick shaft in the middle of them, they are hindered by Szuker in it because this would break a taboo.

Meanwhile Foremon proceeds again to HEART FIVE, after he tried in the under-cities in vain to capture or kill Rhodan and Bull. A stub ship lands, just as he is almost able to stop the two refugees with the basalt dust in the core city. With the help of a tractor ray a Galorne is transferred into the pillar field, who clearly wants to commit suicide. The being is two meters tall and possesses blue skin. The Galorne dies in some kind of light show, and it sets of a bliss beneficiation with it. Under the influence of the beneficiation Foremon loses the trail of the two Terrans who are able to thereupon flee into the under-city and leave Galorn with the help of A Ostamuls in the CHIIZ.

When Foremon comes upon Szuker, he is able to convince him that Rhodan and Bull are murderers. The Andro-guardian thereupon releases the "dragon" to support Foremon. It is an almost forty meter high and twenty meter thick, egg-shaped body which rises from the center shaft of the Field of the Writings.

1817 - Krieger der Gazkar
Warriors of the Gazkar
Susan Schwartz

On January 1, 1289 NGE a fleet of the Gazkars appears in the Collore System over Lafayette. The Gazkars are 1.5-meter tall, beetle-like creatures of a steel-blue color. They walk upright and possesses a characteristic back-pattern as well as red compound eyes. The two pairs of arms, of which the upper is smaller than the lower, have three gripping-tools at their disposal in each case. A crown on the forward inclined head symbolizes the rank of the respective individual. The less spikes of at most 17 on the crown means the higher the position. The Gazkars are part of an ethnic community; their more distant members are the Neezers, the Alazars, and the Eloundars. This community explores and surveys new worlds (Neezers) that is defended by the Gazkars, if they are populated with suitable resonance-givers. Afterwards, a fine tuning of the resonance-ground takes place (Alazars) and finally the "sacred" Eloundars appear, which bring the vivoc material.

The ZYKK-A, a vessel of the fleet, is shot down during the approach to Lafayette by LFT ships. Some Gazkars succeed in the escape during this in rescue-capsules that sink quickly down to the planet's surface that is mostly swamp. As the Beausoleil Joseph Broussard jr. with his companion Pepe and the robot Bunny, who are still on their way to Swamp City, arrive at one of the sites of the crash, they find the badly injured commander of the ZYKK-A, who commits ritual suicide with the staff-like Fekett before their eyes.

The next day the three refugees come upon the second survivor of the crash, a Gazka with the name of Gemba. This stands for Gem-Ba-Am-Kor-Vech-Tol, which is a code-name rather than a name. So one can determine from the name, for example, that Gemba was born on the planet Amkrir, a world of the resonance-giving Vecharer in the Tolkander galaxy. Gemba is on his first mission and thus has all 17 spikes as well. He doesn't see the Beausoleil and his companions as a threat but as an "association" – a different word for resonance-material – that he has to supply the Neezers. He is captured at that time, however, when he tries to overpower the group.

Broussard and his companions continue the on their way to Swamp City with their prisoner, that feels his captivity as a humiliation and increasingly suffers under the separation from his kindred. The robot Bunny succeeds at this time in interpreting the Gazkar language for the most part, so that they learn some things about the Gazkar and about Gemba's ethnic community. After a few days the Gazkar puts itself into an apparently dead stiffness. He does not awaken from this until the group approaches Swamp City. The city is surrounding by an odor network of the Neezers that Gemba perceives. It turns out that these odor-networks alone allow the Gazkars to orient themselves in unknown areas. The subsequent escape-attempt of the Gazkar can be prevented, and the refugees finally reach Swamp City on January 9, 1289 NGE.

1818 - Testfall Lafayette
Test Case Lafayette
H.G. Francis

Atlan and Gucky fly with the RICO into the Haluta system to inform Icho Tolot about the latest developments. Tolot has been for twenty years now on Halut. In this time he has designed and built his new spaceship, the HALUTA II. The ship is two hundred ninety meters long, ninety meters wide and eighty-five meters high and represents the most current state of Halutian technology. But due to his age the Haluter shows all the signs of an approaching pressure urge that he tries to suppress with all his means. Only the philosopher Taro Phontes makes it clear to him that the pressure urge is a part of the Halutian way of life, which also applies to a cell activator bearer.

Tolot learns about the large hedgehog ship fleet in the Halo of the Milky Way from his two guests. In addition, the Viperides have in the meantime supposedly already occupied twenty-three planets which cannot be landed on anymore due to the Tangle fields. The RICO and the HALUTA II with Tolot and Gucky aboard fly to Lafayette in the Collore system. Due to the breaking out pressure urge the Haluter attacks two hedgehog ships and ends up in the sphere of influence of the Tangle-Scans. Gucky instinctively thereupon teleports together with Tolot to Lafayette. While the mousebeaver stands entirely under the spell of the Tangle radiation, the Haluter is protected by his planning brain against its effects. He is able to take out his pressure urge in battle against monstrous animals which are driven from the marshes by the Tangle-Scan. Meanwhile the HALUTA II is retrieved by Atlan with the RICO.

Meanwhile, Joseph Broussard Jr., Pepe and the robot Bunny reach the edge of the capital Swamp City with the captured Gazkar Gemba. Bunny is discovered during a short investigation in the city by Gazkars and is destroyed. When Gemba shortly falls again into his seemingly state of rigor mortis, the Beausoleil goes alone into the city to procure foodstuffs for himself and Pepe. He observes how the population of the city is rounded up in its big buildings. They behave completely apathetically, only showing a certain anxiety near the Alazar tree like beings. When Broussard returns to Pepe, he comes upon Tolot and Gucky. The mousebeaver speaks about having to follow the "call". Without the Haluter being able to prevent it, Gucky teleports shortly afterwards to Swamp City. Icho Tolot follows him and finds Gucky in one of the buildings there. He is able to paralyze the mousebeaver and bring him back to the Beausoleil and his companions. From now on he constantly keeps the mousebeaver unconscious.

A short time later Tolot manages to awaken Gemba from his stiffness with a gas recovered from a wrecked enemy ship and the Gazkar reports that the other Gazkars, Neezers and Alazars are waiting now for the Eloundars, who will bring the valuable material Vivoc. Then it will be determined whether the “Lafayette test case” is successful.

1819 - Eine Ladung Vivoc
A Load of Vivoc
Arndt Ellmer

So they can help Icho Tolot and Pucky, Atlan flies with ten companions in a Minor Globe to Lafayette. On that occasion it turns out that the Arkonide is largely immune to the Tangle-Scan because of his logic sector. His companions, however, are completely under the influence of the radiation and must be paralyzed. On the approach to the swamp world, the Minor Globe is destroyed by the hedgehog ships; however, the Arkonide can save the unconscious personnel in the nick of time with the help of robots and is able to get to Tolot, Pucky, Joseph Broussard jr, and Pepe. Since also a small transmitter is part of the equipment that was brought, Tolot and Atlan can send the unconscious personnel, Pucky, the Gazkar Gemba, and a seized receptacle with odor-gas of the Neezers safely to the RICO.

Shortly afterwards the Arkonide, the Haluter, the Beausoleil, and Pepe go under the protection of deflector shields into Swamp City. While there they must determine in what way the city is changed by the invaders. They are able to eavesdrop on some Alazars and find out that everyone waits for the Eloundars that should be bringing the valuable vivoc material, and that the Ebokazza will be a success. The Alazars are 2.5-meter tall, arboreal creatures. The horse-like head with deep-set, white button-eyes has a multiplicity of wormlike projections on its rear side. They have two dark-green arms that in each case have six worm-like fingers, which appear to sprout from a deformed upper body that has several cartilage-bulges. The lower part of the body is slim, laced many times, and is supported by a green-colored exoskeleton. The entire body rests on 18 wreath-like pseudopods that appear like twisted roots. The Alazars have at their disposal rod-like Karzzen, and with its help sends out their modified Tangle-Signals.

Atlan and Tolot notice they are being pursued, despite their deflectors, by flying objects of the Neezers that are patrolling everywhere. It turns out that the impact of the Tangle-Radiation causes a resonance in the brains of the association, making them suitable living beings which the Neezers can locate. This gives the Haluter the idea to possibly make the Galactic people useless to the invaders as an association through the manipulation of their resonance bodies.

Meanwhile on board the RICO Pucky interrogates Gemba. He can prevent the Gazkar from taking refuge through his deathlike stiffness with the odor-gas of the Neezers, but finds out no new information. When a goldish-red cylindrical ship of the Eloundars – 800 meters long, 200 meters in diameter, and escorted by 20 hedgehog ships – flies into the system, Gemba gets greatly excited. He commits suicide when an immediate passage to Lafayette is refused.

After the cylindrical ship's landing in Swamp City, innumerable form energy, honeycomb containers ten meters across are unloaded which contain the vivoc. It is a gelatinous mass that flows from worm-like cocoons and moves toward the inhabitants of the city. Atlan suspects that the people – always in that form – will be used for the brood of the invaders. Since the beginning of the discharge, Atlan, Tolot, Broussard, and Pepe are increasingly chased by the Gazkars, because they could harm the vivoc as "disruptive-goods." During the hunt, they receive a message that means the inhabitants of Lafayette would serve the vivoc as "psychic food." Before they can escape with the small transmitter to the RICO, the Beausoleil is shot.

1820 - Intrige auf Trokan
Intrigue on Trokan
Peter Terrid

The Raglund Forum gets permission from the LFT to send a delegation to Trokan. At the same time it is the goal of the Forum to stir up mistrust between the Herreach and the Terrans, to use Trokan as a base in the Sol System for the Raglund Forum, and simultaneously to gain control of the mushroom cathedral. Under Gataser Tayloz Üpkek's leadership, the AZTAKT flies into the Sol System with the Akon Centoar Vilgor and the Ara Hasdyn Flech on board, where they meet with Jeromy Argent, the leader of the rescue operations on Trokan, which is still being shaken by tectonic activity. The delegation meets the Cleros and the Free Breathers. These groups of the Herreach prove to be unsuitable as well for reaching the desired goal, like the new group of the "New Realists." These have admittedly accepted the new realities and have shown a certain technical orientation; however, they collaborate very closely with the LFT. Vilgor, therefore, comes back by transmitter to the Humanidrom to obtain materials that enable the cultivation of a plant that resembles the grain brought by the Terrans to Trokan, but is extremely toxic.

Meanwhile the RICO meets with the GILGAMESH and 50 ships of the LFT under the leadership of Cistolo Kahn with his PAPERMOON in the Tucani Sector. There they observe that an extensive hedgehog ship fleet of 100,000 units protects the 500 cylindrical ships of the Eloundars. Still more of the invader's ships arrive there, referred to as the Tolkanders. On the basis of the course-vectors of the newcomers, the supposition emerges that the fleet comes from the direction of the constellation Reticulum. On the edge of the sector, Atlan, Cistolo Kahn, and Myles Kantor meet at the planet Sandage for a briefing. The Arkonide informs them about the events on the swamp-world Lafayette. By means of the radiation named in the meantime as the resonance-body-constant or abbreviated Resoko, the Neezers and Gazkars could scan living beings for their usefulness as an "association." Seemingly, Terrans and their descendants have an especially suitable Resoko with them, so it could be assumed that these 700 living beings will be living on worlds that are the primary goal of the hedgehog ships. The inhabitants presumably would then serve the vivoc as physical- and mentally-psychic food.

Myles Kantor and his team have found out why the Tolkander ships are hit only with difficulty by the weaponry of the Galactics. The ships use the so-called 5-D-Shredder that makes sure the engines execute unpredictable stutter movements in all three directions and yet scrambles and chops off hyperspace in the vicinity of two hundred fifty kilometers around the respective ship. This makes exact tracking no longer possible. Thus, as a counter-measure they developed the 5-D-Indifference-Compensator that calculates, with the help of a high-performance syntronic, the algorithm of the 5-D-Shredder's coincidence-generator in order to determine the trajectory of the opposing ship.

A field-test shows, however, that the compensator requires a long time at the moment to counteract the shredder. Simultaneously, the Galactics get to know a new weapon of the Gazkars: With a russet energy-bundle, which is called a rusting process, the targeted object is enveloped and burned by a type of chain reaction. Even paratron-shields cannot withstand the fire from this weapon, if several hedgehog ships concentrate on it. While on Camelot further productions of the compensator take place, the modules of the GILGAMESH and 20 ships of the LFT will be equipped with the device. Simultaneously, a group of six fleets, each with about 2,000 hedgehog ships, fly in the direction of the Westside of the Milky Way.

One of these fleets has set a course for the Scarfaaru System where the Humanidrom is. A great panic breaks out, especially since no large galactic powers conduct intensive efforts for the protection of the system. Only a formation of 200 units from the LFT under the leadership of the 800-meter cruiser JADE-STAR sets out to defend the system; however, it will arrive at the Humanidrom later than the invaders. The Akon Vilgor is able to leave for the AZTAKT through a secret transmitter, after he has received certain materials in the meantime. When the JADE-STAR reaches the Scarfaaru System, the crew can observe four cylindrical ships of the Eloundars fastened to the Humanidrom and unloading vivoc. Simultaneously, the planet Lokvorth is placed under a Tangle-Feld. The JADE-STAR is able to take 2,000 refugees on board before it is driven away from the system by the Tolkander ships.

1821 - Invasion der Igelschiffe
Invasion of the Hedgehog Ships
Peter Terrid

Throughout the Milky Way the Tolkanders attack the worlds of the galactic races. So, falls to the invaders the Arkonide world Azgola, the planet Euhja in the system of Euthets star, the mine world Kataora, and the Unither world Matjuula. For propaganda purposes, the Raglund Forum sends 100 ships of the Blues to Matjuula. However, these can expel the hedgehog ships just as little as the extensive LFT fleet of 1,000 units.

Meanwhile, on the mine world of Kataora Daniela M'Puno, Kim Chun Kee, and the other miners struggle below the surface mining coal. There is a cave-in and they have to work their way to the surface. While doing this they find out about the new happenings in the galaxy. They finally reach the surface when Kataora is attacked by the Tolkanders, but they are able to escape through the mine's material transmitter.

The only success for the Galactics can be achieved in the Vega System: As a fleet of 4,000 Tolkander ships attacks, the LFT, with 5,000 ships under the command of Cistolo Kahn together with the RICO, is able to repel the invaders with the help of the 5-D-Indifference-Compensators.

Meanwhile, with the materials obtained from Centoar Vilgor, the Ara Hasdyn Flech creates a highly toxic variation of the grain introduced by the Terrans on Trokan. During the bloom – that is shortly imminent because of growth-accelerators – the plants will secret a nerve-gas that would cause the Herreach to have mental bewilderment, schizophrenia, and after an inhaled dose would lead to death.

The Ara informs Jeromy Argent, Myles Kantor, and Atlan in time, however, so that the catastrophe does not happen. The Herreach expel the Raglund Forum delegation from Trokan.

1822 - Die neue Haut
The New Skin
Ernst Vlcek

Kummerog develops a new skin at Rudy Ringent’s house located out in the wilderness on the planet Camelot. Wanting to determine the position of his galaxy, the Cantrell gives his daughter, Thea Ringent, the order to help him in this endeavor. As a result, Thea Ringent gets access to the hyperspatial resonator. Her attempt doesn't have any success, but the young woman can leave a message on her situation with the Siganesian, David Golgar. As foreseen by Thea Ringent, Golgar succeeds in secretly approaching the house of the Ringents thanks to his small size. The Siganesian recognizes Kummerog and Bruno Drenderbaum and immediately informs Atlan, who is back from the Solar System with Myles Kantor. Kummerog, having learned from the media that the Tolkander have arrived in the Milky Way from the Reticule constellation, assigns Thea Ringent the task of looking for his galaxy in this sector. With the help of Golgar, the technician discovers the galaxy NGC 1313 at a distance of 11.5 millions light-years corresponding to the specifications provided by the Cantrell. On the order of Kummerog, Thea Ringent rents a shuttle and travels to visit her father thereby attracting Atlan to his house. When the Arkonide approaches the house alone and without a SERUN, in spite of the advice of his second brain (logic center), he is enveloped by Kummerog’s new skin. Although temporarily under the control of the new skin, Atlan is able to ask the Cantrell mutant about the Tolkanders and the mutant declares that they are the worse of all scourges and that the Milky Way is lost. Under the waning influence of the new skin, Atlan leaves with Thea and Ruby Ringent, Drenderbaum and Kummerog in a shuttle for the GILGAMESH. When Drenderbaum discovers Golgar, who hid in the shuttle, a short battle takes place in the hangar of the central module. Drenderbaum dies while trying to protect Kummerog. Atlan tries to win the mutant's confidence but the Cantrell understands that his new skin dies, probably because of Atlan’s cellular activator. He draws his weapon on the Arkonide but is killed by a group of pursuers. The dying skin refuses to give Atlan any information on the fate of Rhodan and his two companions.

1823 - Regenten der Träume
Regents Of The Dreams
Robert Feldhoff

Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bell leave the planet Galorn on the CHIZ which belongs to an otter-like race (whose lower body looks like a blue snake) called the Paradeans. Like all others spaceships of Plantagoo, it moves by means of a transition drive. The term “Seller of Souls” that A-Ostamul applied to the CHIZ comes from the fact that in payment for the transportation, the Paradeans participate in the violent dreams of their passengers. Contrary to the inhabitants of Plantagoo, Rhodan and Bell escape this influence of the Paradeans. With the Zentrifaals, the Krooghs and the Mocksgergers, who are named the Vagabonds of Plantagoo because they don't possess a planet, all important races from the north side of the Plantagoo Galaxy are represented. The two activator bearers decide to remain on board until the planet Zentrifaal-Center in the Zentriff System. Because of their innate aggressiveness, the Zentrifaals endure with great difficulty the permanent peace imposed by the Galornen on the Plantagoo Galaxy. Any race which breaks this imposed peace are threatened by the Galornen with a somewhat vague pacification process, the “Shifting”, which apparently can be quite unpleasant.

A strong tension reigns from the very start of the voyage between the Zentrifal clan of A-Gidecaj and the fifteen Zentrifaals who have boarded the CHIZ with A-Kestah. The female companion of A-Gidecaj is murdered by a Zentrifaal. Shortly after a member of the clan of A-Kestah is the victim of an attack. The Mocksgerger Pitcher, who is an involuntary witness, is also killed. The Paradeans are helpless in the face of such incomprehensible acts by inhabitants of Plantagoo. Thus, the Paradean crew member named Denim brings Rhodan and Bell to Loom, the commander of the CHIZ, who is in close physical contact with innumerable other Paradeans in the egg-domicile headquarters of the ship. Loom informs Rhodan and Bell that the Paradeans have a strong communal sense. They live on the planet Pittor in the galactic southside in big families which can grow to include one thousand individuals. They intoxicate themselves mutually from their dreams. Their number yet decreases, because of genetic manipulations carried out by their forebears over many millennia in order to limit their aggressive tendencies. Passenger spacecraft like the CHIZ serve to divert other creatures so that the Paradeans can participate in their dreams.

The attempt of the two Terrans to establish negotiations between A-Gidecaj and A-Kestah fails. When they learn that a commando team of A-Gidecaj’s clan is on the way to kill the whole clan of A-Kestah, Rhodan and Bell immediately intervene. Rhodan can prevent the last survivor of the group of A-Gidecaj from destroying the CHIZ. Dying, the Zentrifaal affirms that the return of the Zentrifal opposition leader, Caliform, who has been in stasis on the ship, will cause a war on Zentrifaal-Center. The attempts by A-Gidecaj’s clan to kill Caliform over the past several weeks clearly demonstrates that the return of Caliform to Zentrifaal-Center is already known. A-Kestah wakes up the exiled politician from his hibernation chamber. Caliform proposes a deal with the two Terrans in which he will provide a spaceship to Rhodan and Bell if they continue to help him and his cause. On 29 December 1288 NGE, the CHIZ reaches the Zentriff System.

At the same moment, Foremon, who is in pursuit of Rhodan and Bell, has only three hours to live because he cannot accumulate energy anymore in his space capsule which he has named the PEGOOM.

1824 - Zentrum der Zentrifaal
Center Of The Zentrifaal
Hubert Haensel

On 30 December 1388 NGE on Zentrifaal-Center, the fifth planet of the giant blue star Zentriff, Caliform is welcomed with enthusiasm by twenty one thousand of his devout followers. A-Betschaga, the government's chief, failed to destroy Caliform’s organization, the Gedeonta, during the many years of the famous rebel’s absence. Caliform’s rebel group is named after the famous war chief A-Gedeonta who led the Zentrifaals in battle for the last time one thousand years ago - a battle that provoked the pacification of the entire galaxy by the Galornen. Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bell feel that the peace is not maintained by conviction but by fear of the Galornen. The battle fleet of the Zentrifaal Empire, which is composed of twenty planets, stands at around 2200 spacecraft. These are the most powerful vessels in the Plantagoo Galaxy after those of the Galornen. Whereas they avoid real violence, the Zentrifaals live in virtual realities which are carefully composed to reproduce cruel and bloody situations.

The glider with which the two Terrans fly from the space harbor to the capital city of Cursor is attacked by a guided missile fired by an unknown assailant but Rhodan’s exceptional flying abilities result in the assassination attempt failing. Caliform is convinced that after one thousand years the Galornen do not exist anymore as a threat. However, he hesitates to start a revolt, since he is again without his own clan. The Zentrifaal clans that form themselves voluntarily are always composed of ten men and six women. The tax collector T-Legiaw, a man who works as a spy in the government for Caliform, learns that a traitor will attempt to kill Caliform. Seriously wounded, he arrives too late to warn Caliform but Rhodan and Bell prevent the assassination attempt at the last moment. Caliform takes them to his new hiding place, the Logos Simulation Center, and gives them some precious Zentrifaal battle suits (similar to the Arkonide battle suits). Eruptions of violence occur everywhere. When A-Caliform forms his new clan on January 19, the two Terrans decide to speak to A-Betschaga and warn him of the imminent revolt in order to prevent a bloodbath. On the road to the government's seat they are attacked and are stunned by men in uniform.

1827 - Flucht durch Bröhnder
Flight Through Broehnder
Peter Griese and Robert Feldhoff

Dorota Bochniarz, which is the full name of the Vegaonian component of the on board computer of the CANT, now remembers her whole past: The Ysperay, who were also called the Nomads of Broehnder, lived thousands of years ago exclusively in its spaceships, which had no weapons. They were considered to be the best technical designers of computers of all kinds. One day they were attacked by a mysterious enemy. They are still unknown to Dorota, but describes them as ”beings with seven hands“, dipped in blood. In order to prevent the final fall of the Ysperay, Zujandron made it possible for a thousand Nomads to survive as Vegaonian components in different computer systems. On a distant day these components were to unite again. This day had now come. But since the CANT with Dorota is stuck on Maotock and the former defense minister represents one of the sixteen indispensable components bearing the mental power for the combination, the final fall of the Ysperay is threatening. On a suggestion from Alaska Saedelaere the world of the scrap heaps of Broehnder becomes the meeting place for the combination of the components, which is called the Sahmhorst. During her reports Dorota creates a projection of her original body, which reminds the cell activator carrier of Kytoma.

When the ultimatum of the Maoten runs out, the CANT is immediately taken under fire. Briefly before the protection screen of the wedge-shaped ship breaks down, the Vegaonian components appear with nine hundred ninety-seven spaceships of the most diverse constructions. One of these ships, a hundred meter wide and ten meter thick disk of black color, the Terran identifies as the object, which was observed by a cruiser of the BASIS in the Endreddes district more than seventy years ago over MINE-3 and regarded at that time as a hallucination. Thus Saedelaere’s secret fears to not be in his native universe disappear. The arriving ships entangle the Maotes in battles, so that the CANT is no longer directly threatened. The component Mellenbrock separates from its computer in an explosion and appears again as a green radiating object. Shortly thereafter the remaining former Nomads also let their ships crash on Maotock, in order to thereby be freed from their computing systems. The Ysperay produce a great mental pressure, which causes high-grade confusion with all the organisms on the planet.

Dorota also leaves on-board computer of the CANT. With this fact Saedelaere learns that the computer Fasoldog had activated a protection circuit with the penetration of the Vegaonian component, which will lead to the self-destruction of the ship. This circuit was blocked by Dorota all these the years, but now runs. Despite the mental pressure and the fact that the long range jumper is no longer ready for use, the Terran and six Raubyners succeed in leaving the CANT in time before the ship is destroyed. They arrive at the THOREGON FOUR, which had repaired itself sufficiently by the robot Buck that it can leave the planet under its own power. Varquasch, however, must be fastened to the outer hull of the ship because there is no entrance large enough for him to get through. The computer Unit Four launches the THOREGON FOUR, and the group is able to flee from Maotock and jump to hyperspace. It is pursued however by the Maotes, who do not wish to give up their ”property“.

Buck, which considers Varquasch as a foreign body on the surface of the ship, tries to remove the Raubyner, which causes Saedelaere to interrupt the hyperlight flight in order to try to save him. The Terran sends Varquasch’s five children, in order to divert the robot, which stands outside the control of Unit Four, from its activity. At the same time the pursuing units from the scrap planet attack, whereby Kjaiup, Filibin and Orgelloc die. Since Buck is not to be stopped and in order to protect Saedelaere, who he owes his freedom to, Varquasch releases his bonds and dies in the ship’s energy screen. After the two Raubyner survivors, Lanagh and Scheep, reenter the THOREGON FOUR, the ship flees again into hyperspace. After a week the scrap collecting ships finally give up the pursuit of the ship.

Meanwhile, on Maotock, the mandatory components under the guidance of Zujandron meet in the black disk and receive their original bodies back. Only Molladaga has not appeared yet on Maotock. Since no connection to her exists, they assume that this component was lost, which prevents the stabilization necessary for the formation of the collective. Dorota gets in mental touch with Kummerog’s skin, which as a being capable of subordination is very suitable as a replacement for Molladaga. However the skin refuses, since it regards Saedelaere potentially immortal his cell activator. As a final way out of the predicament, Zujandro, whose element of command forms the counterpart to Molladaga, sacrifices himself in order to re-establish the symmetry of the circle. With the expiring of Zujandro the guidance falls upon Dorota. Since more and more of the weaker components are dissolving, Dorota provokes the Vegaonian leap by the release of the energy of the Sahmhorst. From the explosion of the disk arising from it, a swarm of nine hundred fifty-six shining objects appear, which leave Maotock and disappear after reaching the speed of light.

On February 5, 1289 NGE Kummerog’s skin communicates to Saedelaere that it felt, how Kummerog just died somewhere far away. He is now stuck with the skin and the two vicious

H.G. Francis

The AVALON, under the command of the Unither Kelassan, is flying with thirty other ships, to the star cluster 47 Tucani where the fleet of Tolkanders which now has grown to two hundred thousand units is stationed. The AVALON is a three autonomous part MERZ cruiser in spherical form, built by the LFT on behalf of the Raglund Forum. Originally intended as the flagship of the Forum, the ship has served as so-called “ Mission ship of the planetary administration of Raglund” following an appeal from the LFT. A commando raid led by Kelassan succeeds in capturing a Hedgehog ship with an Alazar on board.

Since the invasion by the Tolkanders a few weeks ago, there are one hundred and one worlds, all oxygen worlds, mainly in an eight thousand light year radius around the Sol system, in the strangers’ hands. When one hundred fifty thousand ships of the invasion fleet split into one hundred fifty associations in the Milky Way, Atlan renews his call for the cooperation of the Galactic power blocs. While the Crystal Empire shows no interest in cooperating, the LFT and the Raglund Forum agree to meet. The conference is called for on Raglund on February 16, 1289 NGE, to begin two days later on the eighteenth.

At the beginning of the conference the Topsider Xconic demands that the LFT financially bear the brunt of the measures to be adopted at this meeting, as it was most threatened by the invasion with eighty percent of the currently conquered worlds. This is agreed to without any conditions by the First Terran Paola Daschmagan, which contributes to a very constructive atmosphere at the conference. As the Cheborparner Parneberochacz Denayrech, also known as Chief Denay, the chief of the security service ORRA, takes the lectern, he frees the arrested Terran agent of the Terran League Service, Selma Miller, captured the day before, as a sign of good will. In addition, he gives the LFT the Alazar captured by the AVALON so that they can interrogate him.

As the Alazar is examined aboard the GILGAMESH, it turns out that he is close to death, which tells the lie of the gesture at the conference. The Tolkander is consciously inhibiting the function of his excretory organs, which leads to a slow self-poisoning of his body. This can be slowed by the physician but not completely prevented, because not enough is known about the metabolism of the stranger. As Atlan interrogates Vasuur, as they nickname the prisoner, he is able to learn after a while that the Eloundars who act as guardians of the Vivoc do not represent the actual rulers of the Tolkanders. Before his death, he reveals, that the Humanidrom was conquered, because it distinguished by its radiation, making it the ideal place for storing Vivoc.

Using this information, the conference decides to send several commands to the Humanidrom, in order to retrieve Vivoc larvae, capture Tolkanders and then destroy the station. Atlan takes command of “Mission Humanidrom”. He oversees a fleet of three thousand ships of the LFT, two thousand ships of the Raglund Forum and fifty Camelot units. On the issue of the Tangle scans, the Arkonide declares that Camelot has developed a drug on Camelot to counteract the effect by diminishing the intelligence of the person being treated to the point that they will no longer be affected by the radiation and still sufficiently capable of action. In particular, the experience on Lafayette has shown that humans with a mental disability are little affected by the Tangle radiation. What Atlan conceals is that Arfe Loidan is working on such an IQ dimmer, but has not yet completed work on it.

On February 20, 1289 NGE Tolkanders have already captured three hundred worlds. The same day, five hundred units of the Galactic fleet meet at Point Survive under the leadership of the RICO, five hundred light years from the Humanidrom. Probes and sensors show that in the Scarfaaru system are around five hundred Hedgehogs vessels and twelve ellipse ships of the Eloundars.

As the Galactics start Mission Humanidrom on February twenty-first, although they manage to shoot up a large number of Tolkander ships, each time the invaders destruct their wrecks or are put under Tangle-rays so that the capture of Tolkanders fails. Likewise the Humanidrom is unattainable due to the radiation, as the drug promised by Atlan is not yet available.

After the ships of the combined fleet withdraw to Point Survive, the RICO receives a radio message that Ronald Tekener has returned from Hangay and is bringing Atlan good news from Camelot.

1851 - In die Traumsphäre
Into the Dream Sphere
Susan Schwartz

It is June 26 1289 NGE and the first shimmer is due in July that was foretold by the Philosopher. From the dream of death they know that there are only six shimmers. If a sixth shimmer occurs there will be no life afterwards within a sphere of several thousand light-years – including the Sol System. The immortals and the Herreach know that the Philosopher in the Sol System is on two planes of existence, which means they have to open a ‘window’ into the other plane.

The Vandemar twins go to Trokan to find a way to destroy the Philosophers. Myles Kantor and Dao-Lin-H’ay are already there. All are amazed at how much reconstruction Presto Go and her fellow kindred have achieved.

Many thousands of Herreach are at a prayer round trying to increase the size of the structure-rip by using Schimbaa, but they are not able to increase it before it collapses. The Herreach can sense the threat from the other dimension but do not know what it represents. They finally discover that the other plane of existence occupies the same space as Trokan, but in another dimension. The prayers have continued for days and they are finally able to get Schimba to its full strength. They are again able to open the boundary to the next plane.

The Herreach are able to open the boundary wider. Suddenly a whirling appears out of the blackness which turns into squirming worms and snakes. These wind around some of the Herreach and vaporize them when they make contact. The worms retreat into the blackness and the window closes because the Herreach are exhausted. While the window was open they sensed that a gigantic hollow sphere was there.

Caljono Yai goes to Presto Go and says that they should get help and she agrees. The Terran camp is empty because all of them were suffering from the scribbling mania and were taken away. Caljono Yai goes to the empty Terran camp anyway and makes contact with Atlan who agrees to come right away.

The five activator wearers are now on Trokan and agree that they must get to the other plane, but the window has to be made steady. The twins say they will help the Herreach keep the window steady while Atlan, Myles, and Dao-Lin go into the other dimension. Atlan contacts Homer G. Adams and tells him that they are going into the dream sphere (other dimension). Homer thinks they are mad, but Atlan convinces him and Homer wishes them luck. Homer must keep the GILGAMESH in its position outside the influence of the Philosopher.

Presto Go and Caljono Yai agree to let the twins help them to make the window larger and keep it steady. Mila and Nadja say they will stay here, but will try to explore the other side with their senses. After a while the prayers start and a small rift is formed which becomes a circular opening about fifteen meters across. The three activator wearers are ready to enter, but the twins want to look around a little first. Atlan disagrees because he knows that they have been overtaxing themselves lately and are not at their full strength. Atlan finally gives in, but still thinks that the twins should concentrate on the opening so that it does not close on them.

The mutants go through and find a tangle of tubes and hollows going in all directions. It is something only a madman could make. They try to ‘pick up’ impulses of organisms, but cannot find any. Everything is good they say.

The three activator wearers enter the opening. With the help of their structure seeing the twins are able to help the three immortals navigate the winding tubes. Myles doesn’t want the twins to go farther, but they don’t listen. Soon the sisters become tired but continue on. They enter a tunnel that suddenly widens and see some installations. They try to make contact with Atlan, however, contact is broken. Something awakens and overcomes them.

Myles is worried because he cannot contact the twins. Dao-Lin senses that something is there. The sisters are finally able to escape the mental strength holding them and flee toward the outside. The mental strength could not be outwitted, however, and catch them before they reach the gate. The mental power reveals that it is Goedda the mistress of all plagues and tells them what it did to the Tolkander galaxy. Goedda becomes careless, however, and loosens her grip enabling the sisters to escape to the other side. Once on the other side they discover they are dying and embrace each other.

Caljono Yai senses what has happened and informs Presto Go. The window collapses because the twins are no longer alive. Caljono Yai finds the sisters on the ground embracing each other, and then they crystalize into glittering crystals. Soon after, two lights separate and form what look like spiral galaxies that quickly fly away toward space.

On The MERLIN Homer wonders why he hasn’t had any messages from the group of immortals when suddenly he is informed that two gigantic rotating spirals are going by. He finally gets a message from Caljono Yai who says that Naja and Mila are dead. This happens on 30 June 1289 NGE. The three immortals are now stuck in the dream sphere.

1854 - Ein Bote Thoregons
An Envoy of Thoregon
Hubert Haensel

Rhodan is questioned by Kaif Chiriatha because he, Bull, and some Zentrifaal penetrated into the Pentris cloud and landed on Tribath. When the robot removes Rhodan's Galorn spacesuit Chiriatha is surprised that he wears a Passantum. He is transported in a glider by Kaif Chiriatha to a holding area in another building to be questioned further in Baaken Bauu the azure city, which is on the Galorn world Helter Baaken.

He asks where his companions are and finds out that they were brought here as well. Rhodan says that he is looking for Ce Rhioton the second Envoy of Thoregon. After entering the building, he his brought to a stark looking hall that is subsequently sealed off by a deflector field. He then finds himself in a hologram that brings him to various parts of Helter Baaken. Thoughts enter his mind saying, “We Galorns live and die for peace in Plantagoo.“ Bull breaks Perry out of his hologram spell and says he is suspicious of the Galorns.

Meanwhile KEMPEST awakens on Tribath and knows that something has happened today that will fundamentally change its existence.

Foremon is also on Helter Baaken standing in a nutritional solution and thinking about returning to Tasch-Term to continue chasing the two criminals Rhodan and Bull. He is also being detained for stealing the PEGOOM. While standing there, he thinks about the strangers that came through the mushroom cathedral. He concludes without a doubt that they must be murders because one is wearing a Passantum, and no Envoy of Thoregon would voluntarily hand over his Passantum.

After a period of time two Galorns visit the Adlat (Foremon) and ask him to finally tell the truth. He stays silent at first, but after some time he says he will only talk to Ce Rhioton. They leave him alone for a while. Some while later Foremon shouts that he will also talk to Kaif Chiriatha.

Kaif Chiriatha comes by and asks Foremon why he is so silent. She says that there should be no secrets since she is Ce Rhioton's designated successor. Foremon finally gives in and starts to talk. He gives her every detail and wants the murderers brought to justice before they go and kill Ce Rhioton. When she has finally had enough of Foremon, she ends the interrogation and leaves.

Meanwhile on Tribath KEMPEST is thinking of fighting and killing. It remembers Perry Rhodan’s visit to the ship and that he had the same aura that former great commanders had. It wants to call back Rhodan to the ship, but must act quickly before it is too late.

Perry is happy to see Bully and the Zentrifaal again. Perry believes that the Galorns are really peaceful, but mentions that they were not always that way. Bell wants to break out of the holding area, but Perry does not want to leave the Zentrifaal behind. Perry is upset at the Galorns because of the way they treat the Zentrifaal with the Shifting. Perry reveals to Bully that the Zentrifaal are actually genetically engineered offspring of a Galorn by the name of Zentri who lived thousands of years ago. He also reveals that an extremely aggressive race of Galorns built the KEMPEST. He found this out when he happened to discover the quarters of the commander in which there was a museum of Galorn history.

Bully and some Zentrifaal are able to expose some circuits in the wall in order to get out of their enclosure. Kaif Chiriatha enters the room and does not seem to notice the revealed circuits. She starts interrogating Rhodan about the Passantum and finds out that Foremon is also on Helter Baaken. From what Kaif Chiriatha says, they now realize why Foremon was chasing them.

Meanwhile on Tribath the ship activates a large, fearsome robot and sends it through the transmitter to fetch Perry Rhodan. P Foremon is literally becoming rigid in the mineral bath from self-pity. Kaif Chiriatha comes by and takes him out of the bath. She brings him to Ce Rhioton’s house where he encounters holographic hallucinations that torture him. Kaif Chiriatha says that the house tortured him because he thought of killing people. She says that Ce Rhioton has been absent for a long time and no one knows where he is. Foremon is brought to a room where he morphs a basalt rock and finds a Passantum in it. A hologram appears with Ce Rhioton in it telling Foremon to put it on and go to the Bridge to Infinity on Galorn. He is to convey the news of his designated successor.

The robot colossus appears and practices for its upcoming skirmish.

Bully and the Zentrifaal are able to get through the barriers and escape their cell, not realizing that they were allowed to escape. The robot creates havoc in the city center and while still at Ce Rhioton’s house Kaif Chiriatha finds out it is a robot from Tribath. While fleeing toward the spaceport Perry and Bull encounter a force field that captures them. The robot has captured them and Rhodan agrees to go with it. Bully and the Zentrifaal escape to some distance away. Rhodan convinces the robot to obey his commands. Needing to break through the shields, Rhodan makes the robot to give him a weapon. After breaking through the shields Rhodan turns against the robot and destroys it.

Kaif Chiriatha arrives with an army of robots with Foremon. Perry is confronted by Foremon, but the two Passantums contact each other and show Foremon that Rhodan is telling the truth and is not a murderer. Kaif Chiriatha and Perry Rhodan say goodbye and the head In the PEGOOM for Galorn. While on the ship Foremon suddenly attacks Rhodan but he avoids him, and then Foremon collapses to the floor unconscious.

1855 - Vorstoß in die Traumblase
Expedition into the Dream Bubble
Arndt Ellmer

Within the dream sphere, Atlan, Myles Kantor, and Dao-Lin-H'ay arrive at a large tube system approximately ten kilometers in diameter. The center of this complex structure - 800 meters across - maintains a heart that is basically similar to a human's like Kantor's and is named Kardia. Innumerable hoses lead to the Kardia that are similar to blood-vessels. These contain manna, a concentration of nutrients with a high share of vitamins, minerals, and roughage. The Arkonide, the Terran, and the Kartan separate so they can examine the structure. ,P. With an antigrav platform and three Modula robots Atlan goes to the tube system's edge that is surrounded by a silvery, spherical fog layer four kilometers thick. At the edge of the fog, he discovers a glider ship that is dismantled by innumerable robots of the Physanders except for the drive section. The individual parts are transported afterwards through the fog to the tube system, where they are inserted into the structure to complete the construction. The manna in its mushy state is transported by a transmitter-like effect into the object. Atlan tries to hinder the construction works by means of sabotage, but determines that the robots remove the resulted damage without considerable loss of time again.

Meanwhile, Myles Kantor discovers ellipsoid bodies 20 to 50 meters in size that represent the junctions of the tube system. The Terran is able to determine that they are switch stations that are not active, however. His presence in the station, however, leads to Physander Ockonea discovering that invaders are in "Goedda's construction." The Chaeroder Ympalor consequently gives the command to intercept the trio and bring them to him. With the help of the Modula robots, Kantor can elude his pursuers for some time, until these destroy his machines and can surround the cell-activator bearer.

Meanwhile Dao-Lin-H'ay arrives at the Kardia. Before the Kartan can penetrate into it, however, a mental voice tries to prevent her from it. As she tries to approach the Kardia anyway, her mind becomes completely confused. Despite that, she instinctively follows a cry for help from Kantor, yet gets themselves in danger because of her condition. Atlan, who comes back immediately from his reconnaissance, can finally free the two cell-activator bearers from their predicament and leads them into the patch of fog where they can certainly elude their pursuers for the time being.

1857 - Die Maske fällt
The Mask Falls
H.G. Francis

Atlan, Myles Kantor, and Dao-Lin-H'ay hide in the fog bank around Goedda's construction, that has now reached a diameter of 17 kilometers. At the same time the Kartan is suddenly influenced by the mental power of the Kardia again and tries to open her SERUN. This can certainly be prevented by Atlan and Kantor, although the suit still loses the largest part of its oxygen reserve. The Terrans succeed in obtaining oxygen from the manna, with which it replenishes the SERUN again. In addition, problems initially occur with the Pikosyn that indicates always further symptoms of deficiency in the future.

On July 8, 1289 NGE the companions approach Goedda's construction again and are able to intercept a message of the Physanders. They find out that the Azzamus is directly imminent. It is an evolutionary leap that represents the first expansion step of the construction. Simultaneously, all the Physanders in the tube system would die in a sacrificial death. When they are discovered by robots and attacked, the cell-activator bearers flee into the dense fog once again. During their escape, Myles Kantor comes across one of the originally brought antigrav platforms, at a switch station of the construction, that they had lost during their activities within the dream sphere. Since this platform is provided with a powerful gun, they decide to recover the platform. When they reach the platform, the entire station is enveloped in a screen-field erected by the Physanders in order to detain the intruders.

Kantor discovers that the switch-station can control organic processes of the Kardia, which leads to an impairment of the Azzamus. The Physanders realize that it jeopardizes their forthcoming and longed-for fusion with Goedda. Thanks to these circumstances, Camock in particular sees himself able to break through the actual collective hierarchy and assume command in the fight against the intruders. To begin with he has all connections to the Kardia separated from the station, which can be compensated for by Kantor with the direct transfer of the jamming impulse with the help of his SERUN. The Physander then has the impulses shielded by a metal wall. Simultaneously, the annihilation of the station is prepared. The cell-activator bearers are able to break through the barricades with the gun of the antigrav platform, however, and destroy a large part of the opposing robots.

On July 10, 1289 NGE the companions reach the Kardia, during which Dao-Lin-H'ay is again briefly subject to the influence of the mental power. It turns out that it is Goedda herself that is now physically within the Kardia. After the Kartan is uninfluenced again, they penetrate into the Kardia through a manna tube. When the Azzamus happens suddenly, Goedda's white biomass, which is seen flowing through red veins, rises through the tubes of the construction. At the same time she dissolves the walls of the tubes and changes the substance into more biomass. This way she pushes forth into the entire construction until she has finally reached the same size.

The Arkonide, the Terran, and the Kartan can achieve nothing against the biomass with the gun. A strong mental impulse causes the companions to briefly lose consciousness. When Atlan re-awakens, he finds out that he is separated from the other cell-activator bearers and that all the menory in his Pikosyn was completely erased.

1858 - Posbis weinen nicht
Posbis Don't Cry
Horst Hoffmann

On July 1, 1289 NGE a reconnaissance of Tolk-17 takes place – one of the industrial planets of the Tolkanders in the 47-Tucani sector that circles around the sun EX-2778. This is executed by the Posbis Relebo, Tellner, Modana, Swallop, Gabezo, Illner, and Dorinel who protect themselves with the Haluter Tangle-Shield against the Tangle-Field, while ships of the Terrans and Haluters involve the invaders in a mock battle to distract them from the operation. On Tolk-17, the Posbis are able to determine that the Tolkanders extensively mine parts of the planetary surface. Afterwards, most of the inorganic substances are disintegrated and the remaining materials are pressed into nutrient bars. Shortly before their retreat, Swallop is killed by a Gazkar.

One day later Flame Gorbend, the commander of the LFT fleet at 47-Tucani and one of the four simultaneous successors of the deceased Bruno Drenderbaum, develops the plan to free some important administrators of the LFT like Paola Daschmagan, Cistolo Kahn, Gia de Moleon, and 17 other persons in the Sol System from the circle effect of the Philosopher. She asks the Posbis for help with it, because these are the only beings that are able to get through using the Tangle-Shield for the execution of the mission. After the Posbis have agreed with the plan, despite their mourning over the loss of their kindred on Tolk-17, the BOX-7443 flies into the Sol System where they meet with the GILGAMESH on July 4, 1289 NGE.

The next day, the busy Posbis on Tolk-17 already leave for Terra with Genswer as a substitute for the killed Swallop despite the protests of their Matten-Willys. NATHAN, that has protected the plasma-components through a form of shock-freezing from the influence of the Philosopher, supports the Posbis with their intent, so that most of the targeted individuals are soon found. Only Paola Daschmagan and Gia de Moleon can first escape. Despite the Tangle-Shield the Posbis are impaired by their plasma-components because of the increasing length of the mission. Shortly after another glider ship vanishes over the Kilimanjaro area; it arrives with the first shimmer-phenomenon on July 6, 1289 NGE. While the syntronic components of the Posbis are unable to participate for approximately eleven minutes because of the shimmer, the other living beings on the Earth are suddenly no longer assailed by the scribbling syndrome. Now they are possessed by a longing to die, and they want to offer their lives for Goedda.

The plasma-components of the Posbis are also affected by this new influence, which can only be repulsed conditionally by the Tangle-Shield. Tellner and Genswer can no longer resist this pressure in the end and have to destroy themselves. One day later Relebo and Dorinel are finally able to find the two fleeting targeted persons. The First Terran and the TLD-Chief had been kept hidden by Cerle Obischan, de Moleon's secretary, with two Ellokianers, grey-skinned beings with four eyes. The women are overpowered by Relebo, after also Dorinel has imploded under the pressure of his biological component. Afterwards, the Posbis take off with the rescued Terrans for the GILGAMESH.

Meanwhile, a different group of Posbis has flown under the leadership of Vladda to Trokan to secure the corpses of Mila and Nadja Vandemar. After the shimmer-phenomenon, that leads to even a Posbi destroying himself, Vladda can determine that the Herreach were not affected by the shimmer. On board the GILGAMESH, they had also sensed the phenomenon, but no effects could be determined outside the radius of the Philosopher. An examination of the Vandemar twins determines that the cell-activator chips have vanished from their shoulders.

A short time later the BOX-7443 flies back to 47-Tucani, while Flame Gorbend communicates that 1,000 glider ships have arrived there in the meantime.

1859 - Duell in der Traumblase
Duel in the Dream Bubble
Robert Feldhoff

The Philosopher of Terra takes the names Dreur and materializes in the vicinity of Peking. Within 40 days his influence extends across the entire Peking region. In the following period, his destiny becomes clear to him as a Philosopher. Together with the remaining 51 Philosophers, he creates a hyperspace bubble with a diameter of 9,000 kilometers, which should serve as a cradle for the Great Mother Goedda. This succeeds through the utilization of the mental strengths that his supporters produce through their focussing on their circle drawings. For the stabilization of the dream sphere, the Philosophers create an other-side twin in each case. With this other-side-Dreur, that is connected with him by a dimensional channel, Dreur forms a unit. In Goedda's space, other-side-Dreur is blind; however, he perceives his surroundings in a mental way.

Within the dream sphere, other-side-Dreur mirrors through a rather intuitive action Dreur's surroundings, which contributes to a stabilization of the bubble. This makes it so that the inside of the sphere consists of 52 puzzle-pieces that represent the part of the planet on which the respective Philosopher is, in each case. Because it is only possible for the other-side twin to receive an image of his surroundings every three seconds, moving objects and living creatures can only be represented as shadowy objects. In the mirrored area of Terra that shows the Kilimanjaro region, Alaska Saedelaere meets with other-side-Dreur, who resembles other-side-Jack externally.

By means of Kummerog's skin, which usually protects him from the mental perception of other-side-Dreur, Saedelaere can place a trap for the creature in Rhaga, a small village at the edge of Kilimanjaro. With a doll, he is able to lure the twin into a barn and ignite a homemade bomb. Other-side-Dreur is ripped apart by the explosion. With a bicycle, the Terran gets on his way to reach the boundary 1,000 meters up on the hillsides of the massif, so that he can use his spacesuit again.

Meanwhile Dreur notices that his zone becomes unstable in the dream-sphere because of the absence of his twin. He uses all the energies of his supporters surrounding him to sustain at least the consciousness of other-side-Dreur. The twin succeeds also a short time later in taking over Kummerog's skin, while it has departed from Saedelaere for some minutes because of the daily training. As the skin joins with the Terran again, a mental duel takes place that also has physical consequences in the form of a broken right arm. Finally the cell-activator bearer is defeated and his consciousness is forced into a small corner.

To humiliate the Terran, the twin shows him the vision of the Philosopher during the near future. Saedelaere perceives that his own death represents the only possibility to stop other-side-Dreur and thus destabilize Goedda herself. In deep concentration he lowers his heart beat to one, until the first shimmer-phenomenon occurs that also destroys the last resistance in him. Saedelaere now sees himself as other-side-Dreur.

Meanwhile, Atlan still hovers in the dense fog. His logic sector was steamrollered during the shimmer by a flood of information from Goedda that this tries now to arrange. It seems to be the memoirs of the great Mother.

Saedelaere awakened again after the shimmer pnenomenon was past. His heart beats vigorously and regularly. He could do nothing against it because he was now the Philosopher of Kilimanjaro.

1860 - Goedda
Goedda
Ernst Vlcek

In the Suuvar galaxy, a dispute prevails between the humanoid races of mammals, the Viniden and the non-humanoid insect races, the Inseddern. At issue is Umam-Urra the central black hole with its significant hyper-radiation and the fantastic natural spectacle of the cascading fires. While the Insedders want to see the area around the all-intertwining black hole declared as a prohibited area, the Vinidens want to use it as a pilgrimage – and leisure-time place.

To clarify the situation, the Suuvarashis summon to a conference the eldest and most respected people of Suuvar's two power groups. There, the escalation of events occurs, as the representatives of the Viniden kill the representatives of the Insedder. Consequently, the Insedder fleets destroy the entire home-system of the Suuvarashi. This is the beginning of the millennial war in Suuvar.

Innumerable worlds are destroyed or are devastated during the course of the centuries and entire races are wiped out. In order to finish the war, both sides agree to a decisive battle. But during this ongoing space battle that lasts for weeks, entire standing fleets are mutually wiped out; there is not a winner.

Because of the unbelievable use of lives and material, the Insedders begin researching the development of brood-machines under the management of the scientist Irra'Anvete. They should bear larvae to make warriors from them for the Insedder empire. The researchers of the Insedder mix the gene material of the six leading races and create fifty brood-machines, the small mothers. The research goes quite slowly at first and there are also severe relapses. So ends an attempt of the union of the small mothers with the loss of three brood-machines. Goedda – as Anvete names one of the small mothers – and the others produce only inferior, not viable organisms.

Another attempt with Goedda finally has success: All 47 small mothers, who were then created according to Goedda's model, are united. Goedda becomes the greatest of the mothers. As individuals, they produced organisms that were bigger and stronger than the Insedder that were bred from their original gene material. The Vivocs, as the children of Goedda are named, decide the war. Goedda turns into an intelligent being as a result of the radiation of Umam-Urra. She is now nestled in her brood-cosmos, an area in hyperspace, and bears millions of warriors.

Her children call themselves Physanders, Gazkars, Eloundars, Chaeroders, Neezers, and Alazars. Goedda, who worries about her children and would not like that they be sacrificed unnecassarily in wars, stops the birth process out of protest. Admittedly she bears more Vivocs, but she no longer releases them. Because of these vivoc jams a growth process begins that takes place in six stages – and with each stage, Goedda yells out her pains paramentally.

As a result the Insedder and Anvetes grant Goedda the possibility to nurse her children in the brood-cosmos, but this doesn't suffice Goedda. She would like to have intelligent children, therefore the Philosophers are created. At least 47, like the number of the small mothers, but never more than 55. The Philosophers erected in addition a new habitat for Goedda in hyperspace, because the resources would run low someday in hyperspace if Goedda had first produced billions of vivoc.

So, Goedda changes into a new brood-cosmos. She bears Vivocs there again, but holds them back again until the sixth stage. With the sixth stage, or shimmer, Goedda's plaintive cry is released and wipes out all life within 1,000 light-years. This cycle recurs again and again, because those are vivoc that only have a short lifespan. But soon all humanoids are destroyed. Subsequently, Goedda turns also to the worlds of the Insedder in order to use the energies of the living beings for her birth process.

Finally the entire Galaxy is depopulated and outside surveillance recommends that Goedda be classified as a cosmic danger. The Nonggos succeed there in neutralizing Goedda – they had gotten task to remove eight cosmic nuisances so that they could be accepted into the Thoregon Coalition. The Nonggos cannot destroy Goedda; however, they imprisoned her in her brood-cosmos with arms from the Baolin-Nda.

Shabazza frees Goedda after many years. He promises her that she can live her cycle again. Furthermore, he makes available for her hedgehog-ships for her Vivocs. To restore her power, and simultaneously as a test run, she is brought to the Tolkander galaxy. Shabazza even frees two other cosmic perils besides Goedda that weren't destroyed by the Nonggos, but were only shut down: Goujirrez, the chaos-maker of Norrowwon and the Guan a Var, the monster of Louipaz. After Tolkander is depopulated, Shabazza points Goedda toward her actual goal: the Milky Way. He provides the great mother with all the information about the people and conditions in this galaxy and warns her especially about the Terrans: that they should be the first to be eliminated. While Goedda sets off for the Milky Way, Shabazza makes ready the liberation of a fourth cosmic danger – Jii'Nevever, the dreamer of Puydor.

1861 - Bomben für den Brutkosmos
Bombs for the Brood Cosmos
Peter Terrid

On board the GILGAMESH Dr. Julio Mangana, the leader of the medical department, tries to liberate the persons fetched by the Posbis from the sphere of influence of the Philosopher of Terra from their still existing longing to die. In addition, he holds long individual conversations with the patients, in which he first tests his strategies on the archiver Nerghana Bilox, before he applies it to Cistolo Kahn or Paola Daschmagan. He succeeds after some time at least to awaken doubts on whether death for Goedda as the ultimate event really represents the true meaning of life. Before the LFT psychologist Bré Tsinga, who should carry out the actual treatment, arrives on the GILGAMESH, Mangana must see to it that the First Terran, the LFT-Commissioner and the TLD-Chief free NATHAN of its new supplemental-programming, which necessitates a combined order through these three persons with instructions by means of priority-step one.

Meanwhile, Atlan still stands in the dense fog of the dream-sphere under the effects of the history of Goedda. Nevertheless, he is able to find Myles Kantor and Dao-Lin-H'ay a short time later and report to them about his discoveries. More than ever they have now decided to destroy the dream-sphere and Goedda along with it. They penetrate on July 11, 1289 NGE into the drive-section of the glider ship commanded by the Chaeroder Kynhan, and Kantor programs the hyperspace-tap of the ship so that it activates itself on July 18, 1289 NGE at about twelve o'clock. This, according to the opinion of the Terran, ensures that the dream-sphere bursts open and the entire contents of the bubble will be scattered in hyperspace.

In order to be safe from further pursuit, and so escape from the dream-sphere unnoticed in one of the drive-sections that returns to 47 Tucani after the dismantling of the remaining glider ship, the cell-activator bearers try to fake their own death. They started up an auxiliary craft and it made an attack on Goedda's construction of. As expected, the ship is destroyed. But on the assumption that it is a ploy, the great mother has the return flight of the glider ships from the dream-sphere stopped until the fate of the penetrated association is clarified unequivocally. Subsequently, innumerable masses of Physander robots leave the ships and look for Atlan, Myles Kantor, and Dao-Lin-H'ay.

1862 - Aufbruch der Herreach
Departure of the Herreach
Susan Schwartz

On Trokan, after the deaths of Mila and Nadja Vandemar, the Herreach succeed many times in opening the gate to the dream-sphere for a short time. However, it is not possible to stabilize the gate. They can sense the presence of Goedda through the portal, which they perceive as malignant. Meanwhile, nightmares impair the Herreach to an increasing degree. For example: Tarad Sul, an old farmer who is part of the large prayer-round at the mushroom cathedral, fights during his nightmare against the also dreaming Ragin Da, although he believes he is merely fighting a shadow in his dreams. Ragin Da dies as a result of the fight without having suffered truly serious injuries. The Herreach are torn out of their typical equanimity by this event; however, Tarad Sul is now able to actively fight the shadows of his dreams and can end his nightmares. Afterward, he helps many more Herreach in the same way.

During one of the portal openings to the dream-sphere, the admonisher Caljono Yai can observe Goedda increasing suddenly during the first shimmer-phenomenon to the size of the created structure. Simultaneously she can make out Atlan briefly, as he hovers in the surrounding dense fog in Goedda's space. When the Herreach observe that one of the Posbis, who has to secure the corpses of the Vandemar twins, and the Terrans stationed on Trokan are seized by a profound longing to die and commit suicide under the influence of the shimmer, while they themselves are not even influenced, they change. The Herreach perceive that they are bound by their apparently particular abilities in helping the Terrans as well as all concerned Galactic races against the threat from Goedda.

So, the Supreme Herald Presto Go calls together the representatives of the various factions. She explains that the Herreach have to come to terms with the fact that Kummerog is dead, and the people must orient themselves again. A latent influence resulting from the way of life of the Terrans has originated through their own equanimity. Tarad Sul's example has shown, however, that the Herreach are also able to act on their own initiative. Shortly after, Homer G. Adams asks Caljono Yai for 5,000 Herreach to transport to the Earth, because he suspects that the Supreme Herald with a large prayer-round will be able to create a stable opening into the dream-sphere and have better possibilities in the action against Goedda near the Philosopher.

The cell-activator bearer immediately sends the BOX-6624 to Trokan. On July 16, 1289 NGE the fragment-ship starts for Terra. For the Herreach, the flight through space and setting foot on another planet is an unimaginable experience that is received by them with curiosity, however. A first attempt at Kilimanjaro the next day shows that the creation of a stable gate is surprisingly trouble-free near the Philosopher. On July 18, 1289 NGE the Herreach again create a portal, and Adams has in a brief period of time assembled approximately 10,000 combat robots to forge ahead into the dream-sphere.

Atlan, Myles Kantor, and Dao-Lin-H'ay are on a continuous flight from their pursuers in the meantime. Despite their cell activators and their experience, the days-long escape begins to wear them down, when suddenly they able to observe the attack of Terran combat robots on the Tolkanders. In the subsequent chaos, the companions succeed in reaching Terra through the opening created by the Herreach, shortly before the activation of the hyperspace-tap occurs on a glider ship programmed by Kantor. Because of her prayer-trance, Caljono Yai cannot be induced by Atlan to close the gate again in time, so that the annihilation of the dream-sphere kills also a few hundred Herreach. Simultaneously, they are able to observe the construction of Goedda being destroyed and the organic mass of the great mother being shredded. Before the gate closes itself, the admonisher sees Alaska Saedelaere and the 52 Philosophers, as they float on the debris of the dream-sphere through hyperspace.

1864 - Vorabend der Apokalypse
Eve of the Apocalypse
Horst Hoffmann

A sudden surging of extremely aggressive behavior among the children, during which deaths also happen, occurs in the city of the children in Baaken Bauu. Also in the rest of the city and to an increasing degree on entire Helter Baaken aggression is noticed rising. Seda Galoer, Kaif Chiriatha's former teacher, suspects that the dragon is the starting point for this behavior.

Kaif Chiriatha makes contact with the guild of the dragon-builders, which always consists of 50 members. Despite the refusal by the leader Duum Trelber, an over 1,000 year old Galorn, she can obtain a meeting of the guild with the help of Pega Mrion, and during this is able to get a majority of the members to vote for examining the dragon. As the dragon-builders approach the shaft of the dragons, they are prevented by a barrier of pure aggression from setting foot in it. In the subsequent confusion, the master builders are rescued by robots from the immediate sphere of influence of the radiation. Duum Trelber, however, falls into the shaft.

Kaif Chiriatha has evacuated the children from the city as a result. Because she feels attracted by Pega Mrion and needs a familiar person as a partner in the present situation, the two Galorns spend a night together, during which a child is begotten involuntarily. The following day an orange column of fire leaves the shaft of the dragons. This leads to an explosion-like spread of the aggression-increasing influence. In the entire Pentris cloud, outbreaks of extreme violence occur among the Galorn. At the same time the half-done third Heliotic Bulwark is also affected: Fighting arises in the structure causing chain reactions that finally destroy it.

Also Kaif Chiriatha is changed by the aggression radiation. She dissociates herself from Ce Rhioton and the Coalition of Thoregon and calls for the conquest of Plantagoo, and that the power of the Galorns should spread to more distant galaxies. With this goal, she provides a channeling of the aggression in the population, and the chaotic conditions in the Pentris cloud decrease. She has a deliberation to secure her power brought into action as a government that consists of Galorns selected by her. She presides with them over the council. While she prepares the mobilization of the black warships on Tribath and spends a night shaped by force with Traph Gandalon, one of her replacements of the former building site of the Heliotic Bulwark, twelve of the ships of Pega Mrion and eleven companions are abducted in order to independently give full expression to their aggression-pressure. When Kaif Chiriatha finds out about it, she strikes Traph Gandalon in a fit of rage and almost kills him.

Meanwhile Perry Rhodan and Reginald Bull touched down with their landing capsule at North-ONE on Galorn, after they were prevented by the android guardian Szuker from landing in the center. There, they find themselves facing a mob of various slum-inhabitants that are all driven by the aggression-radiation. They erect a defensive screen around the landing capsule, activate the force-fields of their spacesuits, and get on their way to Heart-FIVE, the center of the city of Gaalo. In addition the cell-activator bearers must always control the increasingly stronger aggression that makes it very difficult for them. Because the intensity of the radiation repeatedly fluctuates, there are times when 'pestering' occurs and times when clear thoughts are possible.

When they finally reach Heart-FIVE, they can see a meter-high column of orange fire that sticks out of the dragon's shaft. The size of the flame changes continuously, which is presumably the cause for the intensity-fluctuations of the aggression-radiation. With the help of remote controllable probes, Rhodan and Bull succeed in destroying Szuker when it fires on the probes which simultaneously erect a defensive screen. As the Terrans reach the edge of the dragon-shaft, they are pushed off bodily by the intensity of the aggression-radiation. As a result, Reginald Bull pushes Perry Rhodan in an instinctive action into the shaft.
