1700 - Mbius
Mobius
Robert Feldhoff

On 16 September 1216 NGE, the STYX is under way for the planet Charon. Alaska Saedelaere lets Mora submit Mila and Nadja Vandemar to a radiation that will be used to study their psionic faculties. Mila learns painfully to exercise the mirror vision in the presence of Nadja. At the same time, psi powers are detected in her sister.

The following day, the STYX lands on the dark world Charon. The fourteen spindle (prism) natures penetrate into the sea of ice and have visions of their birth worlds. Only Five and Ten can identify theirs, Downunder and Nomen. They take Voltago with them because only he can bring them into their domains. Mora integrates herself as the coordinator into the cybernetic connection. The STYX finally leaves for the Monochrome World and Mora gives information on her past.

More than two million years ago, a vessel from the universe of the Ayindi,, the Arresum, arrives very close to the Great Void. The many races of this region mistrust the strangers and attack them but the Ayindi annihilate ten thousand vessels before retreating. When many more Ayindis follow to see the marvels that for a long time have been lost in the Arresum, other battles take place. The many races from the side of the Great Void form an alliance, the Tanxtuunra (the alliance of the one thousand galaxies, although it has at a maximum only one hundred galaxies). The battles accelerate the technological development of the civilizations of the Tanxtuunra. For examples, spacecraft the size of a planet are constructed but they are all victims of the dark fields of the Ayindis. During the millennial long war, the Tanxtuunra discovers that the Ayindis, whose homeland is supposed to be in the middle of the Great Void, emerge at precise points - the twenty-one passage worlds (also known as the Sampler Planets). The people of the Tanxtuunra attack the Ayindi vessels while leaving these worlds. The Ayindi undertake a campaign of extinction to hold the alliance at a distance from the passage worlds. Quidor, first knight of the Tanxtuunra, surrounds all the passage worlds and uses the weapons of the Porleyters. They seem to cause the defeat of the Ayindis after a delay of fifty days but the Ayindis drag back with them the real reasons for their defeat. They deposit twenty-one spindle natures on the passage worlds and twenty-one segments on Charon. Anyone who can decipher the enigma of the spindle (prism) creatures can find the trail to the Ayindis and call them. Quidor removes all trace of the bitter fight for the passage worlds but refuses to destroy them, for fear to recall the invaders.

Mora tells Perry Rhodan and his companions that Quidor annihilated all life on the second planet of the sun Zraan in order to punish its inhabitants. These offered him a second life and immortality. Saedelaere explains the numerous inconsistencies in Mora's narrations are due to a constant manipulation of her memories.

On September 27, Voltago says farewell to Rhodan and brings the spindle (prism) natures onto their worlds of birth by way of the door in the Valley of the Colors on Sampler World Eighteen (the Monochrome World). Spindle nature Fourteen is set down on the methane world, Seven on a planet where the elements are separated into distinct layers, Two on a gigantic planet which has been cut in two, Six on Shaft, Twelve on a world illuminated by a double sun, Nine on a disk world, Four on a planet with the pyramids of a race that has been extinct for a long time, Fifteen on Sloughar, Five on Downunder and Three, Thirteen, Eleven and Eight on other passage worlds. The bodily temperature of the cyberclone, Voltago, increases every time. The spindle (prism) natures discern the isotope H5 on their respective worlds and understand that they must free the energy stocked in the isotope and, as a result, die. Canaxu, Trantar and Knapsack prove to be the planets of origin of the lost spindle (prism) natures. Spindle Nature Ten, that Voltago brings in last on Noman, is disgusted by his domain, which has been ground by an immortal worm of several-kilometer long. When Voltago comes back to the Monochrome World, his bodily temperature has reached 1049C.

Worried by the unforeseeable continuations of the events, Rhodan supposes that the immortal IT is interested with the ignition of the H5 of the passage worlds coordinated by Mora, having provided a cellular activator to Philip who informed the Galactics about the Great Cosmic Riddle (Enigma). During the flight of the STYX back to Charon, Saedelaere discovers that the radiation emitted by Mora allowed Mila Vandemar to use her psi gift better. Nadja accumulated a dangerous quantity of psionic energy. The STYX reaches the dark world Charon on the 9th October, followed by the ODIN on the 16th. They both land on the surface of Charon.

The BASE, that fled before an attack of the Theans, arrives in orbit over the planet Noman on October 12. The BASE's auxiliary vessels arrive ten days later but remain outside the Daffish System.

To open the access to the other side (the world of the Ayindi), Mora calls the spindle (prism) natures on 31 October and they trigger the simultaneous explosion of the Sampler worlds. The passage worlds are annihilated by a storm of fire. Mila Vandemar is floored by her mirror vision faculty. Nadja can suddenly discern the impressions of her sister's brain. She sees herself attacked by crystalline structures. The mutant's psionic facilities transform their cabin into crystalline dust. Prism spacecraft of twenty-kilometer long appear above the passage worlds. On Charon where the ODIN and STYX have landed, the black sky of the Great Void disappears. Innumerable constellations become visible and three thousand vessels similar to the STYX suddenly stand in orbit.

1701 - Die Ayindi
The Ayindi
Peter Griese

While comparing the universe to a Moebius strip, Mora explains to the Galactics that their present representation of the universe is incomplete. In addition to the space that the Galactics are familiar with, there also exists a second face to the universe (spacetime) that the people of Mora, the Ayindi, calls the Arresum. The other side where the Galactics come from is called the Parresum. Where there are celestial bodies in the Parresum, the space is empty in the Arresum. On the other hand, the domain of the Arresum that corresponds to the Great Void is an area filled with important clusters of galaxies. The explanation of Mora brings new light on the psi faculties of the Vandemar sisters. While making the H5 explode, Mora transformed the Sampler worlds into passage worlds and created twenty-one passageways into the Arresum from the Parresum. The central planet Charon has been projected into the Arresum. As all objects and living beings pass from the Arresum to the Parresum and vice versa, they receive a negative strangenss. The passage worlds of the Arresum are all in the system of the sun Aariam, the central system of the Ayindis. To the surprise of Mora, the Aariam System possesses a belt of asteroids. The warrior doesn't remember the destruction of the old eighth planet. She states that the planet Charon was brought into the Parresum in the distant past and at that time it lost its sun (thus, the reason why it is known as the Dark World).

The warrior is appalled by the reserve and the distrust of the other Ayindis. Only their completely bare skulls differentiate them from her.

The Ennox on board of the BASE discover that most Sampler Worlds turned into dead deserts. The persons responsible for the BASE observe the emergence of a gigantic prism spacecraft in the Daffish System over the planet Noman. It is endowed with negative strangeness. When they activate a hyperdim resonator, the hyperphysicien Emmanuel Beyssel and his assistant Vedat Osman arrive inside the prism vessel in a semi-material state. After the dissolution of the outside cover of the prism vessel, it frees a hundred vessels which look like the STYX. Praepono Than, the commander of the fleet of the Damurial, immediately attacks the Ayindi, who are their ancient hated enemy. The theans' spacecraft, which are ten times superior in number, seriously threaten the Ayindis.

The presence of the BASE in the Daffish System and the arrival of Beyssel and Osman in the Prism spacecraft are for Iaguul, the Coordinator in Chief of the Ayindis, an indication of the desertion of Mora. The ODIN and the STYX are forced to flee the Aariam System and separate in order to shake off their Ayindi pursuers.

1702 - Jagd auf die STYX
Hunt For The STYX
Horst Hoffmann

Having escaped after two days from their pursuers, Mora heads toward the rendezvous point agreed to with the ODIN. This rendezvous point is the planet Thyssan, which is two million light-years from Aariam. Having been educated in her youth on this school world, she hopes to recover her memories. However, two hundred thousand light-years from her goal, the warrior must admit that Thyssan has fallen into the deadly zone of the Abruse, a power which annihilates all life in the Arresum. The Abruse recreates life in a degenerate form and, at the same time, takes in more and more of the life zone of the Ayindis. This life zone has shrunk from five million light-years to three over the past two million years. The Barayen, a humanoid race allied with Mora's people, have disappeared. While the crew of the ODIN unwittingly flies toward disaster, Mora retreats onto the school world Baloo, the second planet of the sun Shiriaan. Perry Rhodan and his companions discover that the Ayindi children are already prepared for action in the near term and are gathered close to the front in ten thousand Ayindi vessels. Ten children recruits, women like all Ayindis, seize the STYX but they are defeated easily by Mora. The STYX leaves for Hoyloon, the unique planet of a white dwarf, which was at one time forbidden. A powerful fortress has been built there over the past two million years. Mora shows to the Galactics that every individual of the Ayindi civilization is educated entirely for the survival fight and the research of weapons against the crystalline death. Two million years ago, her people, fleeing before the Abruse, used the passage worlds in order to find in the Parresum a new life space. The surprise arrival of several Ayindi ships interrupts the explanations of Mora. The warrior opposes their demand to leave the planet Hoyloon which is also threatened by the hordes of the Abruse. The Ayindi insist that Mora submit. She agrees and finally gets an opportunity to justify herself. She declares to her fellow Ayindis (as well as Perry Rhodan and his companions) that she cannot remove her strange hair, because it is her hair that allowed her to survive two million years in the Parresum. The Ayindis accept her explanations and escort the STYX out of the Hoyloon system.

On November 15, the day when the ODIN must reach the zone of the Abruse, Mora announces to the Galactics that the assault of the Ayindis in the Parresum two million years ago ended because all Ayindis who stayed more than fifty days on the other side of the universe died. She assures Rhodan and Atlan that they will be able to return in time into the Parresum. Meanwhile, Iaguul declares to Rhodan that the ODIN doesn't exist anymore.

1703 - Todesbezirk der Abruse
Death Zone Of The Abruse
Peter Terrid

The ODIN is unable to get rid of the ten Ayindi vessels that are pursuing it. In a final attempt to escape from the Ayindis, the ODIN hides in the corona of the giant red sun Shufman in the Vee cluster. Thanks to the "virtual creator", the Terran vessel finally escapes the attacks of the Ayindis who, through the explosion of the virtual copy of the Terran spacecraft, believe they have destroyed the real ODIN. The ODIN continues its trip to the rendezvous point at the planet Thyssan and arrives in a sector where no radio or astronautic activity is detected though the processes developed by Tyll Leyden thousands of years before which would seem to indicate that there should be several inhabited worlds within the immediate vicinity. When the ODIN reaches Thyssan, a crystalline vessel of eight hundred meters of diameter appears. The mysterious spacecraft looks like a giant snowflake. Bell sees the itch of the old scar on his thumb as a bad omen. He is right. The syntronic computer, the power stations and the technical devices explode without visible attack from the snowflake. The ODIN is forced to crash-land on Thyssan. Only 346 of the five hundred crew members survive the wreck on the planet which is covered with crystalline structures. Pucky detects skeletal creatures which appear to be made from crystal.

Alaska Saedelaere, persuaded that Mora is responsible for the fate of the ODIN, wants the STYX to leave for Thyssan but due to the danger posed by the space occupied by the Abruse, the Ayindis refuse to pursue the flight. On 28 November 1216, Philip appears in the STYX after making the jump from the ODIN and informs them about the wreck of the ODIN. He is proof that the Abruse doesn't affect the Galactics contrary to the inhabitants of the Arresum. Perry Rhodan asks Philip to inform the BASE so that the ATLANTIS can bring the crew of the ODIN back into the Parresum before the expiration of the fifty days. In spite of his fear, the Ennox agrees to jump from the Aariam System to the BASE via the planet Noman.
