150 - Die Spezialisten der USO
The Specialists of the USO
K.H. Scheer

The fourth stage of the Perry Rhodan cycle begins in the year 2326. It has been 213 years since the victory over the Laurins on the World of 100 Suns. The Galactic Alliance between Akon, Arkon and Terra was originally established on September 10, 2113 to combat the threat of the Laurins. It has existed for over 200 years and now includes the Posbis as well. On January 1, 2115, the Solar Imperium and the Great Imperium of the Arkonides merged into a single "United Imperium". Perry Rhodan was elected the "First Administrator". The common language is the derivative Interkosmo of the Arkonides. Four hundred sixty-two planets have been colonized by Terrans. Terran colonies receive political independence after thirty years but they are rquired to remain in the United Imperium and the Galactic Alliance. The fleet of the United Imperium amounts to three hundred thousand combat vessels and three million trade vessels. In addition there are the ten thousand ships that explore the unknown regions of the galaxy. On the Moon the gigantic biopositronic brain, Nathan, has been constructed with the help of the Posbis.

Since July 1, 2115 Atlan has been the Lord-Admiral of the United Stars (Worlds) Organization (USO) that serves as the interstellar police force for the Galactic alliance. His agents are trained on the planet Fossil. The HQ of the USO is a hollow moon named Quinto-Center in memory of Nike Quinto, the chief of the legendary Section III.

To the surprise of all, the immortal (IT) announces to Rhodan in March 2326 that the cellular showers on Wanderer will no longer be given. It affirms that twenty-five people will be able to receive the eternal life. Nathan deducts from this statement that the immortal distributed twenty-five cell activators throughout the galaxy. The Galactic Defense learns that the message of the immortal has been heard everywhere in the Milky Way and that the hunt for the activators has already begun.

Five days later, Lemy Danger and Melbar Kasom, Specialists of the USO, are sent to Haknor, a planet populated by descendants of Springers. A civil war has exploded. A vessel of exploration has also crashed on the planet. Lemy Danger has green skin and measure only 22.11 cm. He comes from the colony Siga, the second planet of Glador. Because of a particular radiance of the sun, each generation has become progressively smaller, but now possess an extended lifespan. Melbar Kasom, accustomed to the 3.4 G's of the gigantic planet Etrus in the system of Kreit measures 2.51 meters and has a shoulder width of 2.13 meters.

Danger and Kasom discover that the civil war on Haknor has been triggered by the Akonides who have tried for a long time to control the planet. They want to seize the activator that they have discovered on Haknor. The activator sends the signal: short - short - long - short - short but it surrounds itself with a radiance causing madness. The Specialists of the USO recover the activator and bring it back to Atlan. He gives it to Reginald Bell who needed a cell shower soon.

151 - Signale der Ewigkeit
Signals From Eternity
Clark Darlton

Shortly after the discovery of the first cell activator, IT destroys Wanderer and entrusts the robot Homunk to Perry Rhodan. IT announces to the galaxy that it must escape in the face of a serious danger and that it has hidden twenty-five cell activators. The signal short - short - long - short - short enables someone to locate them. The immortal invites all intelligences to search for them.

The Springer vessel Kam V of the Patriarch Gol Kamer locates signals of an activator on the planet Honur in the Thatrel system. When he begins to search for it, the Terran cruiser Nubia arrives. It is also interested in the activator. The Springers shoot down the vessel. Only Eleven Terrans survive the attack. The captain succeeds in informing Perry Rhodan by radio. Different groups of Terrans and Galactic Merchants (Springers) try to seize the activator. The crew of the Gamos arrives and with the help of the survivors from the Nubia, capture the mutinous Terrans and Springers. When Perry Rhodan arrives on Honur with the Nostasa, he succeeds in recovering the cell activator.

152 - Größer als die Sonne...
Greater Than The Sun
Kurt Brand

The Explorer-2115 discovers in the center of the galaxy the system Ex-2115-485 of which the only planet, Hercules, is larger than its own sun. On Impos, the third of its seventeen moons, researchers discover the remains of an extinct civilization. When Earthmen receive signals of a cell activator, they are cast back thirty eight thousand years. They find themselves in the middle of a war that the natives fight with primitive weapons. They must find the activator only using the resources of that time period. This is the only way they can return to the present. The astronomer and physicist, Tyll Leyden, finally discovers the cell activator inside the cave of the "Singing Mountain". He brings it back without a problem to the commander of the EX-2115 who informs Perry Rhodan of it. Shortly afterwards scientists discover in the cave an exact reproduction of the Milky Way showing every sun and planet in detail, as well as the idealized image of an Ancient humanoid. The inst allation is dated at around 1.2 million years old.

The Terran cargo ship Olira, on the way to the Blue System, must interrupt its linear flight in the Velander system following sabotage. When impulses of a cell activator are detected on the second planet, the Olira goes there. At the time of the landing a mutiny forces the vessel to crash. The only survivor is Hendrik Vouner, a specialist in metallurgy. Because of his previous failures he had wanted to emigrate to Sphinx. He seizes the cell activator.

He is pursued by the crew of the Ara vessel Kotark which is also attracted to the planet by impulses from the activator. Vouner succeeds in penetrating the vessel and forcing the Galactic Physicians, Hefner-Seton and Sorgun, to bring him to Earth. The two Aras succeed in deceiving the Terran. They reach the system of Kesnar and land on Aralon. When Vouner learns of it, he leaves the vessel and hides himself on the planet.

Hendrik Vouner can move around on the greatly populated planet Aralon, because his pursuers Hefner-Seton and Sorgun don't bother to inform anyone about the cell activator so that they themselves can seize it. Tabes, the chief of the Counsel of Aralon Physicians learns the truth after having interrogated Sorgun. Sometimes with great difficulties and doubtful means Vouner finally reaches the Terran base Doun and identifies himself to the respresentative of Earth as the bearer of an activator. Perry Rhodan arrives on Aralon. Vouner, whose activator made him a hunted loner, met only distrust and violence. Without debate, he gives the device to Rhodan and receives ten millions solars.

The Slaves From Nowhere
Kurt Mahr

Three former officers of the Solar Fleet, Bran Cathay, Marr Toss and Bakter Brown buy a ship, the New Brisbane, to launch a search for a cell activator in 2326. The characteristic signal brings them to the planet Nullepart which is supposed to be desolate but which, in fact, shelters a population of individuals in bad health. There, they are immediately stopped by a police woman, Garika, and are brought before the leader of the Supreme Courthouse named Lemmy Pert who condemns them to slavery. The New Brisbane is destroyed by security but Brown is killed while trying to run away. Cathay and Toss are taken in charge by Garika.

Brought to the house of Garika, the Terrans run away and take Garika and her companion, Hayda, as hostages. They learn as well that the Aras deport to Nullepart all sick that they could not heal, thereby protecting their reputation. Garika has been charged by the Aras to supervise all strangers. The two women come over to the side of the Terrans and all four undertake to flee in the direction of the mountains where the Ara base must be. They are hunted immediately but the pursuit is interrupted very quickly.

They face the dangers of the jungle and fall into a trap intended for fur snakes, a very dangerous indigenous species. An Ara in a glider soon appears to seize the animals but the four fugitives seize him instead. Thanks to the system of automatic piloting, they reach the base, hidden in the heart of the mountains. After wandering through the underground facilities, they are stopped. Their interlocutors are Lemmy Pert, one of his men, Kappak - in fact the contact of the Aras - and a Galactic Physician, Gerpo-Kha.

The plan of the Aras becomes obvious: they constructed around a hundred fake cell activators to sow confusion while they look for the real cell activators. They use a secretion of the fur snake to create an effect believed to be energy renewal. Marr Toss runs away and succeeds in sending an SOS from a hypercom. In part, thanks to the help of an Ara, he manages to hold off, with the threat of his weapon, Lemmy Pert, Kappak and later Gerpo-Kha. Pert is killed just as the first cruisers of the USO fleet make their appearance. The base is dismantled and the two Terrans and their companions are brought back to Earth aboard Admiral Atlan’s ship.

K.H. Scheer

In June 2326, nineteen of the twenty-five cell activators of the immortal (IT) have been found and are now in Terran hands. They have been assigned to important persons of the Solar Imperium, especially the mutants.

The telekin and activator bearer Anne Sloane is drawn to Eysal, the second planet of the sun Eyciteo, populated by degenerate Arkonide descendants. An Explorer vessel has detected the energizing radiations of nuclear machines. Anne Sloane is sent along with the Specialist Ebrolo, an Anti. Ebrolo kills the mutant and seizes the cellular activator. Atlan, disguised as a blind beggar, and Melbar Kasom, camouflaged as a gladiator, launch themselves on the track of the traitor, helped by Lemy Danger. They are confronted by priests of Bàalol who control Eysal by means of the cult of Kulan. They follow the Chief Priest Mahana-Kul, who has, in the meantime, taken the activator from Ebrolo. They soon discover under the temple of Kulan a labyrinth with alien machines. On August 4, 2326, at the time of the fight with the Anti, Lemy Danger destroys the cellular activator. This activates the machines of the labyrinth that send out hyperenergetic waves of great strength.

Explorer In Trouble
Clark Darlton

On August 1, 2326, the Explorer-3218 lands on Zannmalon, in the Ex-Zanma system, a star on the galactic periphery. At the time of the exploration of the planet scientists discover in an underground installation remainders of a gigantic creature with short limbs and a head around five meters in diameter, as well as innumerable purple pods of ten centimeters in length and of great toughness. The hyperenergetic shock wave triggered by Lemy Danger on Eysal puts machines in action. The pods end up hatching creatures that are shaped like caterpillars, move themselves by springing and replicate themselves very quickly by fission. They emit a thick colorless fluid. The creatures, named Hornterrors, can, while secreting an acid, dissolve all materials. They reproduce and spread out over the entire planet. Only the simultaneous shooting of several weapons can kill them.

The commander of the EX-3218 (which is destroyed by the Hornterrors), Jak Schonepal, and his men must retreat until Perry Rhodan and the Assor, attracted by their calls of distress, appear and take aboard the survivors.

Numerous planets are invaded by the Hornterrors freed by the hyperenergetic shock wave.

Hornterrors brought secretly aboard the Assor by Professor Nordmann, one of the scientists of the Explorer-3218, free themselves and invade the vessel. Since one is not able to control them once they multiply, the vessel is abandoned and cast into a sun named Schonepal’s Star. The crew takes refuge on the second planet named Hirosha since there are traces of a nuclear war. They discover a large version of the Hornterrors, eventually named the Shreckworms, brought there by an unknown race - a living copy identical to the cadaver in the caves of Zannmalon. The long worm of twenty meters displaces itself by long jumps. It can absorb all ray beams and can project some energizing rays in return. It threatens the shipwrecked victims but then is destroyed by a catalytic fusion bomb from the Cantor which has come to help. The Shreckworm made contact with the Hornterrors of the Assor by means of hyperwaves. The Terrans discover on Hirosha a system of caves with eggs of the Hornterrors and machines similar to those on Zannmalon. When the Hornterrors hatch and begin to spread themselves, the Cantor leaves Hirosha.

Nytet is one of the two hundred seventy-six inhabited worlds overrun by the Hornterrors. Close to the planet the Posbi vessel Box-394 discovers a large unknown vessel about three hundred meters long. Devoid of a protective shield, it somehow resists transformer cannon shots. It leaves without suffering any damage. The crew of the Tudor, the Terran ship that landed on Nytet, doesn’t spot any Hornterrors or any of the extract they produce at the time of their reproduction. They find instead three young Shreckworms. Pucky, Ras Tschubai, Tako Kakuta, Tama Yokida and the crew of the Tudor try to capture one of them with heavy nets of terkonite steel. During the capture attempt, they detect the monster emitting hyperimpulses from the solar system.

Thirty-eight unknown vessels emerge and attack the Terrans and the Posbis. When the Tudor tries to take its people aboard, one of the Shreckworms destroys itself as well as half of the vessel.

Two women and eight men of the Galactic Defense land on the planet Zannmalon to procure samples of molkex, the secretion produced at the time of the separation of the Hornterrors. They find Zannmalon covered with a molkex layer and discover some exhausted Hornterrors changing into molkex. The molkex resists all attempts to either cut it up or to split it with acid. The Terrans see a Shreckworm born from a great amount of molkex.

Suddenly, vessels emerge of the same type as those observed at Nytet. They take the molkex and fifteen young Shreckworms aboard. When the vessels leave Zannmalon, a sonic storm falls upon the men and women. It is caused by an underground facilities machine already discovered by the crew of the Ex-3218. The Terrans must destroy the mysterious machine to save themselves.

161 - Vier von der USO
Four From the USO
William Voltz

Nathan affirms that the vessels of the unknown race (Huldvollen) are made invulnerable by a coating of molkex and that the Shreckworms have a certain intelligence.

On December 17, 2326, Specialists of the USO - Brent Firgolt, Elmer Warren, Aldo Kopenziack and Claude Collignot - land on Euhja, the third planet of the star Euthet, to study a young Shreckworm. Hornterrors had been brought here by the imprudent Aras. The Shreckworm developed fourteen days earlier than on worlds where there were already eggs of the Hornterrors.

Men notice that the monster comports itself with reason. On its side, the Shreckworm, which in fact is highly intelligent, studies the four aliens for whom it feels respect. When Firgolt is threatened by a marine monster the Shreckworm saves his life and thus reveals the intelligence of its race, which constitutes a big secret.

The Shreckworm, which possesses the collective knowledge of its race, feels hate towards the Huldvollen. Shreckworms depend on the Huldvollen for their reproduction. A vessel of the Huldvollen covered with molkex, that the Shreckworm called with hyperimpulses, arrives in the Euthet system and destroys the Carbula, the vessel of the USO. When it lands on Euhja to take the Shreckworm, it kills the crew.

The four specialists of the USO climb aboard. While the vessel leaves automatically for an unknown goal they discover the Shreckworm in the control center.

The Eric Manoli doesn't find the Carbula or the four Specialists in the Euthet System. Instead they discover on Euhja a message from Brent Firgolt that causes Perry Rhodan to trigger the alarm for the Fleet on December 26, 2326. He expects a confrontation with the unknown aliens.

While turmoil develops in the United Imperium, the Shreckworm aboard the vessel of the Huldvollen makes contact with Brent Firgolt with the help of a symbol transformer belonging to the Specialists. It tells the Terrans that it must kill them to protect the secret of the intelligence of its race. However, it grants them a time limit if they help it to take control of the vessel, which it is not physically capable of doing itself. The Specialists sabotage the linear drive and call Terran vessels to help repulse the Huldvollen. The Shreckworm wants to kill the four Terrans before they reveal their knowledge but it gives up when it learns that Firgolt has already released the information regarding its intelligence back on Euhja. The Eric Manoli finally appears to take aboard the Specialists and the Shreckworm now named Peterle (Little Peter). Vessels of the Huldvollen emerge at this moment.

While the Shreckworm Peterle is brought aboard the Eric Manoli, the fleet of the United Imperium is confronted by the Huldvollen who represent a second great Imperium located in the east sector of the Milky Way. A barge tries to bring the captured hostile vessel to safety but the armor of molkex dissolves during the flight. At the same moment, Ras Tschubai and Pucky shrink to the atomic level while trying to teleport themselves onto a vessel of the Huldvollen. A Terran cruiser attacks the vessel and the two mutants are projected by the shot to a planet whose sun becomes a nova. The eruption that they try to avoid by teleportation returns them to their normal size and projects them into space. The teleporters discover an identical vessel to the one that the Theodoric met in 2104. They explore it and find some humanoid robots. They then call the Solar Fleet that comes to their aid. The robot vessel escapes.

On Impos scientists of Ex-2115 study the observatory of the Ancient Ones. Since the gravitational shock wave triggered on Eysal on August 4, 2326, a strange modification of gravity and mass has taken place on the gigantic planet Hercules. The Singing Mountain containing the facilities of the Ancient Ones is the only place which escapes the tremors threatening the moon. Tyll Leyden and his colleagues discover a great emptiness in the Milky Way observatory.

At the end of December 2326, the modifications of the gigantic planet amplify themselves. The scientists receive an automatic message from the Ancient Ones. It warns them of a creature called the Suprahet that destroyed a few whole systems in the Milky Way 1.2 millions years ago. It was neutralized by the Ancient Ones but it now begins to awaken again. Leyden understands that Hercules is in fact composed of molkex and that it is about to consolidate and take the shape of the Suprahet. Leyden confirms that the wakening of the Suprahet must take place on January 5, 2327. Perry Rhodan evacuates Impos on January 4 and explodes eighty five thousand gravity bombs and three hundred thousand arkon bombs on the gigantic planet. Hercules is projected into hyperspace with its sun.

After Hercules' destruction the Shreckworm Peterle declares himself ready to bring the Terrans to his world of origin. The cruiser Terrania reaches the planet Tombstone in the system of Leyden's Star in the east sector of the galaxy. Determining that it is the planet that was missing in the observatory of the Ancient Ones, Leyden understands that Tombstone is also a part of the Suprahet but that it has followed a different evolutionary path. Because of the hunger of the Hornterrors the planet has lost eighty percent of its mass during that time. This forced the Shreckworms to accept the proposition of the Huldvollen to bring their eggs to other worlds provided that, in turn, the Shreckworms let them take a large part of the molkex. Leyden succeeds in winning the confidence of the ten thousand Shreckworms on Tombstone who initially considered Peterle a traitor. Leyden demands that the Terrans transport them instead of the Huldvollen. The Terrans will do this for nothing in return. The only price - the Shreckworms must remain neutral in the conflict between the two Imperiums. Ooff, the spokesman of the Shreckworms, accepts. A vessel of the Huldvollen attracted by the presence of the Terrania on Tombstone is projected into the sun by the Shreckworms.

Scientists who are studying the underground facilities of Eysal run into the Huldvollen. The aliens have short bodies, but they are of a slender shape. Their long arms have four fingers and three thumbs. Their head is in the shape of a saucer which is endowed with four eyes and rests on a very thin neck. The mouth is found in the neck. Since their body is covered with a blue fur, they are named the Blues by the Terrans. After a fight the scientists capture a Blue and call a vessel of the Fleet for help. The Terrans learn that the Blues who constructed the facilities on Eysal belong to the people of Apas. The labyrinth is part of an ancient attempt by the Apasians to break the molkex monopoly held by the Gatasians who are the Blues presently in power. They secured some Shreckworms that they dropped off on several planets. The facilities on Eysal only have the mission to trigger the hatching of eggs on faraway planets by means of hypergravity waves. Because the Apasians have since made peace with the Gatasians the installation was forgotten. When Lemy Danger activated it accidentally, someone on Apas remembered the ancient project and an expedition was sent to Eysal.

Kody, the captured Blue, can not be saved in spite of an operation. The Solar Defense decides to send a vessel to establish a base in the zone of Blues influence. Torav Drohner, commander of the Copenhagen, is chosen for this mission. His team is endowed with hypno-mechanical projectors giving them the appearance of the Blues. The Copenhagen penetrates into the Pahl system where the planet Apas, one of the main worlds of the Blues, is located. After having diverted the attention of a Blue’s ship by exploding a nuclear bomb from afar, the Copenhagen lands on Kohnla, the sixth planet of the system. It is hidden in a cavity. Above the ship an illusion is created simulating the soil of the desert.

On March 4, 2327, a small scoutship, with Torav Drohner, Fellmer Lloyd, Tako Kakuta and Hauka Leroy, the second officer of the Copenhagen, aboard, travels to Apas. After having destroyed a monitoring station on an island, it lands far from all dwellings.

Ipotheey, “Commissioner of the Eighteen Securities” on Apas, is informed of the destruction of the island when he receives a visit from Iül-Theer-Hij, a Gatasian Blue responsible for the secret police. The destruction is assumed to be sabotage. Hij gives Ipotheey the job of solving the problem as soon as possible. As soon as Iul-Theer-Hij leaves, Ipotheey sees a man close to the window, although he didn't see him enter. Tako Kakuta, under the protection of the hypno-mechanical projector, passes himself off as a member of the resistance in order to get the position of the astronomical guidance station but he betrays himself while turning the head, an unknown gesture to the Blues.

The Terrans get settled in a small apartment where they receive a visit from the police. They are all arrested and incarcerated.

The Blue Hürüt Iirp has witnessed the landing of the Copenhagen on Kohnla and he warns his superiors. But they send a squadron to destroy the Terran vessel, thus showing their contempt for Hurut Iirp’s life. The Blue warns the Terrans, and the Copenhagen takes off before it can be destroyed by the Blues, carrying away Hürüt Iirp with them.

Iül-Theer-Hij makes contact with the Terran prisoners and he tells them that he understands the principle of the hypno-mechanical projector. The prisoners discover that they are in fact inside a guidance station. They succeed in escaping, taking Iül-Theer-Hij as hostage. They are successful in seizing some elaborate data but then a Gatasian vessel lands close by. Columns of police also approach.

Tako Kakuta arrives to recover the scoutship with which they came to Apas and the Terrans make it back to the Copenhagen.

The operation is a complete success. They bring back six prisoners and the galactic position of Gatas, the main world of the Blues.

170 - Im Dschungel der Sterne
In the Star Jungle
Kurt Brand

For once, Perry Rhodan passes a calm evening at home with his friends. However, it is soon interrupted when he is informed that the Shreckworms on Tombstone want a transport to bring three of their own who are ready to lay eggs to a new planet. Because of the agreement signed with the Shreckworms, Rhodan immediately goes into action and gives his orders.

The cruiser Kostana heads toward Tombstone while several Explorers throw themselves into the search for adequate worlds. Having arrived on Tombstone, the Kostana takes aboard the three Shreckworms. So that the new, soon to be born, Shreckworms don't give out a hyper-impulse and warn the Blues, it is decided to couple hypno-tapes recorded by the Shreckworms themselves to symbol-transformers (translators).

The Explorer-5207 discovers several planets in a star cluster which is named Hiesse's Cluster and transmits the coordinates to the Kostana. During the journey, Sergeant Erskine makes several tests with the hypno-tapes that do not seem to work. Some parallel studies take place on Earth. The tapes end up being revealed as good but it still remains to be seen if they function with the symbol-transformers again.

The Kostana sets down two Shreckworms without problems in two systems named Brulab-1 and Brulab-2. In spite of navigation which is made difficult by the gravitational conditions and reigning hyper-energies in Hiesse's Star Cluster, the vessel reached the third planet in the Brulab-3 System.

The Kostana, as on the Earth, experiences some unexpected effects from the hypno-tapes, that, in turn, has dramatic results. Some hypnotic impulses are given out. On Earth, the personnel of a research laboratory feel the impulse to leave their location but they are easily and quickly taken care of. Unfortunately, the crew of the Kostana is not as lucky on the fourth planet of the system, where the last Shreckworm has just been set down.

The captain, Clark Yak, is the first man to recover his senses but, horrified, he sees the Kostana take off suddenly and explode in full flight. The survivors are then attacked relentlessly by an unknown enemy who has primitive weapons and who does not hesitate to use a few atomic grenades. All of the crew of the Kostana is killed, but Captain Yak has time to send out an SOS with minicoms which are plugged together in a series.

171 - Kampf der vier Mächte
Fight of the Four Powers
Clark Darlton

Following the distress call from the Kostana, the Explorer-5207 heads toward the Brulab-3 System. As a precaution, it warns Explorer-318 and its commander, Colonel Griffin Tuchmann. It first passes by the third planet and discovers that it is inhabited. This alien race has even mastered spaceflight. The commander of the Explorer-5207, Colonel Beto Hiesse, feels deep guilt for having missed so vital a piece of information. The ship then lands on the fourth planet, named Trio.

The inhabitants of the third planet, who are given the name Trios, have established bases on the fourth planet. It is they who attacked and destroyed the crew of the Kostana. A group of Trios commanded by the commander Barel-Kut attacks Explorer-5207 but it is wiped out. Only Barel-Kut succeeds in surviving but he is captured. Another group of Trios attacks the monster - the Shreckworm - set down by the unknown ship. This Shreckworm takes no quarter and only two Trios escape. Like Barel-Kut, they all are captured by the Terrans.

Help arrives from the third planet but they are destroyed without a lot of effort by the Terrans. During the fight between the Terrans and the Trios, the Shreckworm is strongly antagonized. It cannot distinguish between Trios and Terrans and considers itself betrayed. To take vengeance, it allows itself to be brought back aboard the Explorer-5207, which it then entirely devastates. Whereas the few surviving Terrans take flight and escape, it crushes Colonel Beto Hiesse under its mass. The Terran survivors make contact with the Trios and conclude a truce. A distress message is sent to the Explorer-318.

A ship of the Blues is enroute in the same space sector, in order to search for suitable planets to put down Shreckworms. But contrary to Terrans, they do not worry about whether these planets are inhabited or not. Gogol, the commander of the ship, shows an unexpected weakness towards the inhabitants of the planet Pergal, who display a calm philosophy when facing death. He decides to save the planet in spite of the hostility of the scientist on board - an agent of the government. They then receive a call emanating from the Shreckworm on Trio.

They arrive at the planet Trio, embark the Shreckworm, which they then put down on another planet and drop a reaction bomb that will kill all life on a quarter of the planet. All Trios and Terrans are killed. The Blues ship leaves in order to immediately warn its government that the Terrans have concluded a pact with the Shreckworms.

When the Explorer-318 arrives, it finds no survivors.

After having searched in vain for traces of the survivors, Tuchmann decides to leave the system. Enroute, the ship is attacked by a Blues fleet. It is hit very seriously and nearly all the crew is killed. Only the commander, Colonel Tuchmann, his friend Ter Philips and Frankie Pell survive. They manage to control the wreckage sufficiently in order to land themselves on the surface of the third planet of the system, Trap, from which came the original Trio astronauts who caused the destruction of the Kostana and the Explorer-5207.

The three survivors are stopped by a police force of the planet, which is divided into two blocks: the Boreal Federation centered on Felghan, and the Southern Empire centered in Artrot. It is close to this last city that the three Terrans, mistaken for spies from the north, are incarcerated. From the language of their captors, led by the policeman, Rima Kim, the Terrans realize that they are descendants of the Akonides. Therefore, a transmitter station should exist somewhere on the planet which, with some luck, they can use to get back home.

During their captivity they are witness to something which looks like an earthquake. A young woman, Gianal Tea, helps them to escape by way of a tunnel. She works for the Boreal Federation. She takes the Terrans with her and informs them that the conflict between Felghan and Artrot is due to a rivalry over the control of the island of Jorgh, situated between the two continents - an island protected by an invisible barrier. The Terrans are convinced that this is where the transmitter station is located. To their great surprise, Rima Kim and his men make a sudden appearance.

A big earthquake hits Artrot, and the Terrans take advantage of it to escape. Gianal Tea serves as their guide and, as a precaution, they carry away Rima Kim as hostage. They gain the northern coast where they seize a boat to reach the island of Jorgh. During the journey, Tuchmann expresses his opinion that the earthquakes are due to the Blues who are using a vibratory field to depopulate the planet.

They are attacked by planes, but Ter Philips succeeds in finding the mechanism deactivating the protective field of the island. They pass through it whereas the Trio squadrons are destroyed mercilessly by the Blues ships. The three Terrans and their two companions penetrate into the station but, to their great disappointment, the transmitter is no longer linked to any other transmitters on other planets. However, they decide to send nuclear bombs at random into space to attract the attention of Terran warships. These arrive and make the Blues fleet flee in disorder. The survivors of the Explorer-318 are picked up.

Enterprise Nautilus
K.H. Scheer

In October 2327 an Arkonide Robot-Cruiser is shot down above Gatas. It falls into the sea and releases the submarine Nautilus which is very difficult to track because of its chemical propellant. The crew's mission is to recover the men of the Luvinno and to find out how the Blues treat the molkex. With this knowledge they will be able to develop a weapon against the indestructible armor.

Lemy Danger and Melbar Kasom discover that in order to shape the molkex it is necessary to utilize a solution of concentrated hydrogen peroxide consolidated with the B hormone (Hormone Baby), a substance produced by the Blues' children. Their dependence on the molkex forced the Blues to encourage a strong fertility that then led to their thirst for expansion.

The theft of the B hormone attracts the attention of the Blues. The men of the Luvinno and the Nautilus are able to escape to the station ESS-1 by transmitter.

On 25 November 2327, a group of Terrans and Shreckworms are sent to the planet Tauta, ravaged by Hornterrors, in the Vagrat system to try the new anti-molkex rockets. The Shreckworms call the Blues by hyperimpulses. Believing they have forgotten a Shreckworm on Tauta a Blues vessel lands on the planet. The Terrans fire at it with rockets containing a solution of hydrogen peroxide stabilized with the B hormone. The vessel's armor of molkex dissolves and gathers itself together. This newly transformed material, named neo-molkex, takes off from the planet's surface and accelerates in the direction of the galactic center. This phenomenon is named the "drive effect". After heavy fighting, the Terrans succeed in defeating the crew of the Blues vessel.

The chemical components of the B hormone can be synthesized on Aralon but the artificial B hormone misses the paraphysical properties of the original. A workgroup which is led by Tyll Leyden and the Arra, Pa-Done, try to treat the artificial B hormone with the radiation of a hypertron to get the release of the four-dimensional impulses needed to modify the molkex. The lack of molkex threatens to stop the research.

In January 2328 the Terran ship, Babota, must get the molkex on a planet populated by Hornterrors in the Labio system but it is shot down by the Blues.

A group of Antis betrays the coordinates of many of the worlds of the United Imperium to the Gatasians. The Akonides also play with the idea of becoming allies of the Blues. An invasion of invulnerable molkex vessels threatens the empire.

The Terran flagship, Eric Manoli, saves the survivors of the Babota but can not take the molkex aboard because of the presence of the Gatasians. At the time of the rescue action, Perry Rhodan allows eight Hornterrors to be brought aboard in order to place them on a particular planet. He has the vessel destroyed while hoping to save the crew with the lifeboats.

The fleet of the Gatasians begins its attack on star cluster M-13. The Great Counsel of Akon promises a hundred planets to the Blues if they treat Akon as a neutral power that is separate from the United Imperium.

The flagship Eric Manoli must land on Giungla, a world covered with jungles. The crew escapes in the lifeboats but, at the time of the shipwreck, the Hornterrors that were brought on board in the Labio system escape as well. Rhodan's plan works as the Hornterrors begin to transform the planet and produce molkex.

The group of researchers led by Tyll Leyden are successful with the hoped for transformation of the B hormone. When the Donar brings the survivors of the Eric Manoli and five million tons of molkex back to the Earth, the efficiency of the new weapon can be demonstrated.

The invasion of the Blues in M-13 is stopped thanks to the anti-molkex bombs. However, the synthetic B hormone is then revealed as unstable after a certain period of time. The construction of ten thousand micro-hypertrons by the micro-technicians of Siga allows the B hormone of the anti-molkex bombs to be constantly radiated and thereby stabilized. Without the defense of its molkex armor, the fleet of the Blues is defeated and forced to flee.

The mutants go aboard a captured Blue's discoid shaped cruiser. On 28 April 2328, the captured Blue’s vessel, baptized the "Disk", simulates a wreck after a false attack by the Khrest, the new flagship of the Solar Fleet. The Disk lands on the central world of the Gatasians. The mutants penetrate underground to where the reserves of molkex are located, place anti-molkex bombs, and escape on the Disk. After the simultaneous explosion of all the bombs, the surface of the planet is raised by the "drive effect" of the neo-molkex. The neo-molkex disappears into space.

While not having been directly involved in the war against the Blues, the Akonides still feel an irrational fear towards the molkex. They put into play a risky plan to rid themselves of the molkex forever by destroying Tombstone, the planet of the Shreckworms. The Akonide Admiral, Themul Paiin, is charged with the execution of the plan. He recruits three Akonides condemned to death: the scientist Ak-Ther Chaans and the traffickers Kerim Chmals and Adans. These convicts are sent aboard a small spacecraft to the planet Tombstone while an Akonide fleet commanded by Paiin carries out transition after transition to divert the attention of the Terran Fleet.

The three condemned men try to escape the control of Themul Paiin, an arrogant man, but they are unsuccessful and are forced to carry out their deadly mission to completion. Several Arkon bombs are placed on the surface of Tombstone but once they begin to explode, the Akonides are forced to destroy their antigrav to escape the wrath of Themul.

A Terran vessel, the Akolus, is destroyed by one of the bombs while transporting a Schreckworm to the surface of Tombstone. The only three survivors from the Akolus flee before the nuclear fire that ravages the planet. They end up meeting the Akonides and, together, repair the small Akonide spacecraft making it spaceworthy once again. Taking advantage of the energy liberated by the atomic inferno, they undertake a launch from Tombstone and join the fleet of Themul Paiin. The Akonide fleet is attacked by a Terran fleet but the small Akonide spacecraft joins with the Akonide flagship. The Terrans secure the Akonide vessel. Its crew is disembarked while the three Akonidese and the three Terrans wait for the situation to calm down so they can go home and bring Themul Paiin to Akonide justice.

And, during this time, the planet Tombstone fully disintegrates and disappears for good.

Perry Rhodan and Atlan, accompanied by Melbar Kasom, meet on 12 August 2328 aboard a small spacecraft at a secret location near the center of the Milky Way in order to discuss the destruction of the Galactic Alliance after the end of the Blues War.

The Khrest, that waits in the neighboring Beauly system, sends an SOS. Perry Rhodan, Atlan and Kasom land on the second planet of the Beauly system. Rhodan and Kasom quickly fall victim to a strange radiation, that, by acting on the brain, gradually causes its victims to loose all memory and intelligence. In short, they revert back into a more primitive state. Atlan remains unaffected. Atlan and his companions manage to get closer the Khrest, helped by the indigenous victims of the radiation. After seven weeks they reach the vessel that has by then been abandoned by the crew. All the members of the crew have lost their intelligence and have become savages. With a space jet of the Khrest, Atlan goes to the moon of the planet and destroys the emitter of the radiation.

When the Khrest lands on the Moon (after the return of all memory and intelligence to the crew), three unknown men of obvious Terran origin are captured in the station. The Khrest informs the Earth and remains in orbit.

Several of these worlds want separation. For his part, Homer G. Adams attempts to bring them back into the fold of the empire through economic pressure. The Galactic Defense is on a war footing. The mysterious terrorist organization, Dark Star, goes into action. This organization includes spies within the Galactic Defense. The fifty thousand gigantic transmitters serving as protection for the Solar System have been sabotaged. Several agents of the Galactic Defense, including Henner Dutchman, are to search for clues that will help to dismantle Dark Star.

Dutchman investigates the plophosian delegation whose leader is Froser Metscho. Unmasked as a member (and possibly leader) of Dark Star, Metscho is freed quickly by his colleagues. Pol Underson, administrator of the Ala System who is in favor of separating from the United Imperium, attempts to convert several Terran colonies to his general cause but, in the end, he receives no takers. Dutchman soon learns that a bomb is set to explode under Julian Tifflor's cruiser when it lands at the spaceport in Terrania.

Administrators and Chiefs of State meet in session to determine whether Julian Tifflor should be confirmed as the successor of Perry Rhodan. The bomb having been successfully deactivated, Julian Tifflor’s flagship lands and Perry Rhodan makes his appearance before the amazed Parliament. The session is immediately adjourned and Rhodan will address the parliament as early as the next day.

The number of sabotage attempts in the Solar System increases. Metscho is actively searched for, and the trail brings investigators to the Moon of Mars. Henner Dutchman is killed on Mars while preventing a disaster threatening to completely destroy the city of Hélioport. But, finally, thanks to the spreading influence of the Galactic Defense, the general neighborhood of the Dark Star headquarters can be surrounded. Froser Metscho is killed by Mory Abro by mistake when she fires a weapon she believes is a paralyzer.

The Terrans find the néo-molkex on Pulsa. It comes from the Blues vessels lost at the time of the war with the United Imperium. The neo-molkex is responsible for the energy impulses. The fall of the néo-molkex on Pulsa has been caused by threadlike creatures with many extremities, named Dancers because of the way they move. They form the remnants of the Suprahet. The Dancers extricate the energy of the néo-molkex which they then use to feed themselves and to catapult themselves into hyperespace. The Dancers grow so large that they begin to endanger the Lion which is trapped by them on the surface of Pulsa.

When the Lion is attacked by rockets of unknown origin, the Dancers retreat from the Lion in order to absorb the energy of these same rockets as they explode. The Lion uses this diversion to take off and escape. It takes up a waiting position near the Whilor System since its Kulap Drive is out of commission and it can only travel in normal space using its impulse propulsion system.

198 - Die letzte Bastion
The Last Bastion
H.G. Ewers

On Opposite, the third planet of the Whilor System, where Iratio Hondro has fled as a fugitive, tests are being carried out to develop a highly destructive gravitation bomb made out of molkex.

When the Lion landed on Pulsa, the Plophosians on Opposite were the ones who tried in vain to destroy it with rockets. After the failure of this tentative attack, Hondro uses a Blues vessel as a decoy to divert the attention of the Terrans from Opposite but Nome Tschato remains suspicious.

Shortly afterwards Perry Rhodan and Atlan arrive in the Whilor System. A member of the Blue Guard who is forced to commit suicide by shooting himself, reveals the position of the secret Plophosian base to Atlan's flagship, the Peyra. Opposite is taken by a fleet of the USO after heavy fighting (to include a massive battle between robots on the surface of the planet).

Rhodan eventually finds the dying dictator in his underground base. Hondro gives his cell activator to Rhodan so that he can, in turn, give it to Mory Abro. Iratio Hondro wishes Rhodan, as well as all humanity, luck in the future and then dies.

199 - Arkons Ende
Arkon's End
Kurt Brand

In September 2329 the Solar Defense is informed of the business dealings between the Akonides and Springers concerning some Halmen contacts.

While Perry Rhodan and Mory Abro get married with great pomp on Plophos on 28 September 2329, eighty to one hundred thousand Blues vessels, that have been equipped by the Akonides, attack the Arkon System. They are backed up by eight hundred Akonide units. The Arkonide detection systems are rendered inoperative by Akonide frequency emitters equipped with Halmen contacts.

Eighty five thousand Terran combat vessels, as well as Plophosian and USO vessels, run to the aid of Arkon but the attackers succeed in completely destroying Arkon III. This planet, the arsenal of the Arkonide Imperium for millennia, breaks apart in a catastrophic explosion. However, Arkon I and Arkon II are saved from a similar fate. The Blues and Akonide Fleets are ultimately annihilated.
