1350 - TARKAN
Tarkan
Kurt Mahr

The explosion of the Paratau store in the Tarkanium creates a huge blast that shakes all the surroundings, including Dorifer itself. Perry Rhodan, who was inside the cosmonucleotide during the explosion, is hurled into Tarkan, the dying universe. When he wakes up on board of his spaceship, four days later, he quickly understands what happened and learns from the on-board computer, Leda, that there doesn't seem to be any psionic network in this universe. The space is basking in a reddish light and Rhodan detects a pentagram made of five stars in the proximity.

Rhodan soon receives mental impulses that invite him to land on Bentang, the third planet of a nearby sun, where he meets with a race called the Hauri. They are servants of the Hexameron, the deity of this universe, and they despise the name "Tarkan". Rhodan learns that the death of their universe is a process wanted by the gods and that the final contraction is called The Six Days and is related in the Book of the Hexameron.

The Hauri Varro Pak Duur tells Rhodan about Lord Heptamer, the master of the Eshraa Maghaasu, a cluster of twenty galaxies that is used as an intermediate between the Hexameron and the Gods. Rhodan suspects this might be the equivalent of a super-intelligence in this universe.

Rhodan suspects that fifty thousand years ago, Estartu received a call for help from the Kartanians in Tarkan and she left the normal universe to come here, but Varro Pak Durr doesn't seem to know the name Estartu. He does know the Kartanians, though, whom he considers as his enemies because they are trying to fight the death of the universe. Varro Pak Duur shows Rhodan a picture of a region of space where entire solar systems are missing, and Rhodan realizes that a part of the galaxy Hangay (called Maghaa in Tarkan) has been transfered to the normal universe, showing that the plan of the Kartanians partially worked

The Kartanians seem to draw their energy from something called the "Pearls of the Shamshu Chain", which Rhodans suspects might be the psionic beads of the local Moral Code.

Varro Paak Duur asks Rhodan if he will work with them but when the Terran understands the goal the Hauris pursue and that they have already manipulated his memories in the recent past, Rhodan decides to flee.

On February 6th, he leaves Bentang and heads for the pentagram of stars he spotted earlier, which, Leda suspects, might have something to do with their rematerialization in this particular region of space of Tarkan.

The Matter Source
H.G. Ewers

On January 25th, 447, the Kamashite Tovari Lokoshan discovers the cryogenized body of a very thin humanoid in a cave of the planet Mushak, in M 33. A few months prior, Lokoshan was saved by a shuttle of the PIG under the name Tashit Lovelin after a breakdown of the Kartanian cruiser Garadan.

As increasing hyperimpulses announce a forthcoming modification of the space-time structures, Lkoshan leaves the Eye of Nachor system and falls into a rift. To escape the structure shakes, he asks Lullog to bring him near Nikki Frickel and Poerl Accoun on the Narga Sant, but his spaceship, the Banshee, materializes inside the Narga Puur.

Lokoshan is captured by the Traavs and put into a cryogenized state as hyper-impulses with a Kartanian code are received in M 33 coming from the intergalactic void. A cruiser arrives on the Narga Sant, sent by the PIG. Nikki Frickel calls it Sorong and when they depart toward in direction of the origin of the signals, a robot Ctl with a biological component from the Gys-Voolberah Mullin-Okra makes his presence known on board.

On January 31st, Nikki locates a rift in the space continuum and suddenly, an entire galaxy with fifty billion suns materializes. She loses consciousness.

In the Milky Way, Sato Ambush claims that the rift is a Matter Source as alarming signs are showing that the Psionic Network is dissolving. Twenty-Four spaceships are sent toward Estartu to help the Vironauts as the new galaxy is officially named Ragnarok.

Three black spaceships completely destroy the GIP base on Finistere. Three people survived: Wido Helfrich, Narktor and the Springer Nerva-Than, who was on a mission to observe the natives of Finistere, the Kekkereks. Only the hypersensor has been spared and while the unknown attackers start taking it apart, the survivors send an SOS. After being accidentally spread with water, the Hauri becomes insane and commits suicide.

The Helfrich, Narktor and Nerva-Than break into a Hauri spaceship and Nerva-Than is killed by the Hauri, while her two companions barely escape before the spaceship blows up.

A GIP fleet appears on Finistere and is immediately attacked by the two remaining Hauri spaceships, who use an unknown weapon. The Galactics realize they need to have dozens of their spaceships concentrate on one enemy vessel to be able to destroy it. Also, Hauri communications mention the terms "Operation Time Rift Closure" and "Acceleration of the Last Six Days".

1356 - Die Botschaft der Letzten Tage
The Message from the Last Six Days
Kurt Mahr

On his way back to Sabhal, Atlan stops on the planet Tonku to study the effets of the collaps of the Psionic Network in this region of space. Chaos reigns on Tonku and when he is identified as a Network Rider, he is arrested by five fanatics who still believe in the cult of the Eternal Warrior. Atlan is rescued at the last minute by a mysterious humanoid shape.

On February 17th, 447, Atlan reaches Sabhal and catches up with his friends. Abel Waringer has been working on a Vectoral Grigoroff Projector, which should make it possible to travel to Tarkan, the dying universe, in search of Perry Rhodan. Atlan decides to fly into Dorifer despite all the warnings in order to start the search himself.

Initially rejected by the Cosmonucleotide, Atlan finds a way to force his entry and his spaceship is then sucked into a psionic maelstrom. He lands on a desertic planet, near six pyramids. When he comes out of his spaceship, the pyramids turn into menacing giants identifying themselves as the Last Six Days. They tell Atlan that he will soon become their servants.

The mysterious shape appears again and the entire scene disappears. Atlan returns to Sabhal where three weeks have gone by since he left. He learns that Gesil left and that the Queions have summoned a special meeting of all the Network Riders. When the day of the meeting comes, the Arkonide notices that only eighty Network Riders out of four hundred and eighty are present.

The Querion Wybort starts to talk to the Network Riders and explains that a long time ago, Dorifer felt a threat coming and decided to increase th Psi Constant in this region of the universe. This change created the Psionic Network and the Querions decided to dedicate themselves to the protection of the Cosmonucleotide. When they realize that other races than themselves could use the Network, they enrolled additional people to help them: the Network Riders currently assembled.

When the Hangay galaxy materialized inside the universe, Dorifer mysteriously decided to return the Psi Constant to its original value even though the threat is apparently not gone. As a consequence of this decisoin, the Psionic Network is now collapsing and the organization of the Network Riders must therefore be dissolved as well.

Wybort says that the Querions are now withdrawing and that the Network Riders are free to do what they please. Atlan requires everyone to offer their help in tring to fix the chaos and misery that the collapse of the Psionic Network is causing throughout the Twelve Galaxies. They all agree, but Atlan's only goal is to return to the Milky Way despite the ban from the Cosmocrats and participate in the efforts to find Rhodan.

Later, Atlan, Demeter and Jennifer Thyron try to puzzle out the meaning of the "Last Six Days" and they remember of a song that was recorded on Zataras that contained this concept, along with that of the Hexameron. Atlan becomes convinced that the Day Zero is the paterialization of Hangay in their universe.

When Atlan enters Gesil's house, he finds a message destined for him only. The young woman tells him she was convinced by an unknown visitor to leave. The unknown visitor turns out to be the mysterious shape who saved Atlan earlier and he identifies himself as a messenger from the Cosmocrats.

He tells Atlan that the danger of the Last Six Days should not be underestimated and that the Hordes of the Six Days are already on their way to attack them. They come from Hangay and if Atlan accepts to organize the resistance against them, the Cosmocrats will lift their ban and he will be able to return to the Milky Way. Furious, Atlan renews his vow to never serve the Cosmocrats again and declines the offer.

A few days later, Atlan receives a call from Pucky, Fellmer Lloyd, Eirene and Ras Tschubai on Hubei. Pucky tells him that Bao at Tarkan, the commander of the Narga Puur, needs help. Atlan decides to head to Hubei, hoping to obtain additioal information on the Six Days from Bao at Tarkan.

On May 20th, 447, Ren-No's fleet is back on Tuyon and the appearance of ten thousand spaceships, half Juatafu and half Benguel, appears in the system and claims to be looking for something called Imago. Emissaries of each race are sent on Mnele-Dor's spaceship but as soon as they are in each other's presence, something happens and they both become suddenly brainwashed, while two flashes appear and merge, before vanishing.

Rhodan realizes that he is Imago and tries to dissuage the Kartanians and the Vennoks from attacking the peaceful people, who don't belong to the Kansaharriya, the association of twenty-two people working on transfering Hangay to Meekorah. Whenever Juatafus and Benguels are in each other's presence, the same phenomenon happens and Rhodan decides to flee in order to avoid a massive brainwash of both people.

Rhodan decides to head for Vinau, the Kartanian homeworld, and during the trip, Beodu tells him about another dream in which Granjcar, the Eternal Warrior from the Milky Way, completely annihilated a planet called Vailach-Gom.

Leda discovers four clusters called Dugu Sisawa, that came from Absantha-Gom in the Milky Way, and Rhodan decides to head there instead, realizing that while Tarkan pieces are being transfered to the Milky Way, an inverse transfer seems to be happening as well.

In Dugu Sisawa, Rhodan discovers Vailach-Gom and his Net Rider aura triggers a recording and leads him to discover the sign of Estartu in a destroyed base. At the same moment, Hauris start building a base in the vicinity and Rhodan discovers a Lost Gift of the Hesperides in a Hauri shuttle that he hijacked, having no idea how it got there.

Rhodan is eventually intercepted by the Kartanians who take him to their homeworld system, Charif. Rhodan is taken to the third planet, Jalip, and discovers that the moon of the first planet of Charif, Nansar, is the nomeworld of the Nakks, and that it's orbiting a black hole.

They finally reach their goal and find Barkonis there, where 158 asleep bodies are scattered throughout twelve stations. Ellert tries to enter one of the sleepers but he is repelled. They learn the history of the Barkonides.

When the Seven Mighty Ones realized that the Suprahet, the antimatter cloud come from the universe of the Accalauries, was approaching the Milky Way, which was also the goal of the Swarm, they asked the Querions, the creators of the Swarm, to stop it. One million Querions received humanoid bodies, settled on a planet of the Milky Way and took the name Barkonides.

1.3 million years ago, the Suprahet reached the Milky Way and despite all their efforts, the Barkonides were unable to stop it. They decided to set up a trap where the Suprahet's energy became congealed. This structure became a planet later baptized Hercules by the Terrans. The rest of the energy created the planet Sepulcher and on Majestas, one of the planets of the system that Hercules belonged to, they created an observatory with a warning message.

Their task done, most of the Barkonides returned to being Querions while a small number of them decided to stay Barkonides, losing their immortality and their memory quickly after that. Only the Guardians of the Stations kept in touch with the Querions through the Time Fountains.

One million of years ago, when the Swarm reached the Milky Way, its structure was shaken so hard by the Bardioc's manipulations, who was responsible for the Karduuhls rejecting the Cynos, that Barkonis was pushed back into the voide between the Milky Way and Andromeda. The Guardians of the Stations installed twelve hibernation stations on the lonely planet of a yellow sun then limited themselves to secret visits to Barkonis and stopped intervening in its destiny.

Back on the surface of the planet, the sleepers receive a message from It asking them to look for the Time Tables of Amringhar. Only once the find them will they recover their abilities. Ellert and Testare then leave the planet, which they have baptized Kembayan.

Passive-B is destroyed with Arkonide bombs and Rhodan and Atlan return to the Tarkan fleet on February 27th, shortly before the transfer of the last quarter of Hangay.

1399 - ESTARTU
Estartu
Kurt Mahr

On February 28th, 448, the Kansaharriya projects the fourth quarter of Hangay into the Milky Way. Perry Rhodan sends the Auriga to the X-Door sector to meet with the Base and leaves for Narna, where Estartu's resurrection is imminent. When they get there, Hirdal appears and gives further information on Estartu's history.

More than fifty thousand years ago, Estartu decided to answer the call from the Kansaharriya because what happens in Tarkan might affect the normal universe as well. Without knowing the motivations of the Lord Heptamer, Estartu is convinced that the Chaotarks are behind the attempts to destroy Tarkan.

In order to call Estartu, the Kansaharriya built a giant emitter, which consumed most of their resources. After the call, they sank into apathy and scientific stagnation. Under the form of a Kartanian female called Tar-Tu, Estartu infiltrates the scientific team of the project Hen-Kwa and suggests the creation of the Narga Sant in order to scout the Milky Way. Over the next forty years, the project to send Hangay into the Milky Way shapes up under her direction.

Estartu managaes to convince the Lord Heptamer that if he destroys her, the Meekorah Project will stop. The confrontation ends on Zerenghaa where Estartu fakes her own destruction while spreading her consciousness across 40,000 Toto Duga, which in turn split their psyches on the Benguels and the Juatafus. When two representatives of this race meet, the quantum of consciousness is freed instantly.

The Lord Heptamer assigns the direction of Hangay to Afu-Metem, who starts concentrating on the Hauris, thereby leaving the Kansaharriya free to continue the development of the Meekorah Project. A few centuries later, the Narga Sant leaves Hangay.

Since the Toto Duga and the Benguels will need a spiritual guide when comes the Time of Maturity, during which Estartu will be reborn, the super-intelligence calls on her brother, It, who tells her about two cell activators that he intends to give away. It assumes that the future bearers of these cell activators will follow Estartu's trace and will therefore reach Tarkan in the future. Thus are created the myths of the Imagos.

After Hirdal's report, Atlan now understands why It insisted so much to get him to go to Tarkan, since Perry Rhodan's projection into Tarkan was an accident. When Bull questions Hirdal about Dorifer and the Moral Code, the manifestation reacts violently and pretends knowing nothing about these topics, even though the Kansaharriya had to tap energy from there for each transfer. Benneker Vling then materializes and together with Hirdal, they say goodbye to the Terrans and disappear.

The Benguel and Juatafu fleets appear on Narna and the sudden fusion of all these consciousnesses create a psionic storm. Estartu appears as a giant woman and asks for forgiveness to It for having abandoned her galaxy. Before departing toward her Sphere of Influence, the twelve galaxies, Estartu accepts to absorb Oogh at Tarkan in her consciousness.

The Terran fleet heads back toward X-Door. During the flight, Sato Ambush warns Perry Rhodan that the transfer of the fourth quarter caused a critical mass to be reached in the Milky Way and suggests to investigate its effects. Skeptical, Rhodan accepts nevertheless as the fleet crosses the Strangeness Field separating the two universes.

As they are about to emerge, a shockwave of unknown origin catches up with them but as it hits them, the fleet of fourteen ships is left unharmed.
